  • Recently farming succession has become an important topic in agriculture in order to secure agricultural manpower in response to the aging of farming households and declining population. This study investigates farmers and agricultural college students' perception of farming succession in Korea, especially of farming succession to a third party. Farmers and agricultural college students are potential farming transferors and successors, respectively. We surveyed 146 farmers and 95 students who graduated or were studying at the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries. The questions of the survey are largely divided into four categories: 1) the will and scope of farming transfer and succession, 2) the requirements for the successors of farming, 3) the perception on the succession to third-parties, and 4) the farming succession policy. According to the survey results 41.4% of farmers and 46.3% of potential farming successors have willingness to accept a farming succession to a third party. When farming succession was carried out through the Farming Succession Exchange, 46.8% of farmers and 54.7% of successors said they are willing to carry out third-party farming succession. This means that a third-party farming succession could be activated if the reliability issue that may arise during the farming succession is resolved through the Farming Succession Exchange. Other implications for farming succession are suggested at the end of this study.

Self-administer questionnaires were completed by 386 students, and data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and regression analysis. The students in food-related majors had positive perceptions of Korean food. They had perceptions of Korean foods as 'fermented foods', 'seasonal foods', and 'medical foods' and have 'various spices'. Most students agreed that Korean foods need to be 'creatively transformed' and 'localized' in order to globalize successfully. Localization, fusion and creative transformation of Korean food are more important than simple adherence to traditional Korean food. There were statistically significant differences in perception between students in different majors. Students majoring in traditional Korean cuisine showed a more positive perception and attitude toward globalization of Korean food.

A study subjects were 814 students in 5th and 6th grades at 4 elementary schools in a city and a county. The items in questionnaire was consisted of general characteristics, circumstances and habits related to utilization of computer and internet game playing, and degree of addiction, health perception and health promoting behavior. We analyzed data using chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. In multiple regression analysis, addictiveness on internet game was significantly related to type of computer utilization, frequency and duration of internet game playing, gender, after-school activities, grade points, economical status, and location of computer in a house. Health perception was significantly related to addiction points, gender, residential area, and grade points. And health promoting behavior was significantly related to addiction points, grade level, grade points, and health perception points. Since health promoting behaviors of children in elementary school are in the way of making, their degree of addiction to computer games can greatly influence their attitude towards health and their future life pattern as adults. Therefore an educational prevention program including counselling on game addiction should be devised. And researches will be needed for developing the Korean standard for measuring degree of addiction and a prevention program for peer group's game addiction.

Preventive behaviors were more strongly and positively correlated with attitudes than with perception. The factor most significantly affecting preventive behaviors were attitudes to preventive health. Conclusions: To allow the students to change their awareness and behaviors related to sickness and accidents, first it is necessary to give education on a continuous basis so that they can obtain perception to cope with sickness and accidents; second, it is necessary to develop behavioral guidelines related to accidents in each area so that they can practice and make it a habit through attitudinal changes.
