The im of the present study is to introduce and develop the concept and theory of conspectus for the first time in Korea, and to propose a new evaluation model for book collection by actually applying the developed methodology to the collection of a special library dedicated to Biblical Studies. Conspectus is a standardized and objective evaluation method that classifies the main collection according to the division, category, subject, and then gives each collection ots appropriate collection level code by analyzing the classified collection in terms of three different dimensions, which are Current Collection Level(CL), Acquisition Commitment Level(AC), and Collection Goal Level(GL). To evaluate the collection of the sample library, shelflist analysis, list checking, acquisition data in ordering process by their main subject, and survey of its users have been carried out, and all of their results ahve been indicated in terms of eleven collection level codes developed by WLN Conspectus. T e collection of sample library was evaluated as '3cW' for CL, '4W' for AC, and '4W' for GL when the Conspectus methodology was applied for evaluation. This study could be utilized as an collection evaluation model for theological libraries, and become a basis to bring about more active cooperative collection development among related libraries.

The legal deposit for the national library in all countries is the most important mean for acquiring the country's off-line and on-line publications. Because of many limitations of legal deposit system, however, the National Library of Korea does not properly collect the useful materials produced or manufactured in Korea. In order to solve this problem, the author analyzed the status of collection development by legal deposit and estimated the total amount of domestic publications. Based on the these results, author suggested five plans for strengthening the national collections in terms of the provisional 'deposit law', the further development and complementary of current legal deposit regulations (guidelines and standards), desirable amendments of the legal deposit provisions in library act, reasonable division of the deposit targets, and optimization strategies of acquisition scope by material types.

As the more web contents are available through the internet, relative importance of electronic resources in the library collection has gradually increased. While several measurement criteria are used for the effective collection development, the usage statistics is generally accepted as the key factor to assess the retention and cancellation of electronic resources. In this paper it was examined the roles and problems inherent in the electronic journals usage statistics, and then the quality of electronic journal usage reporting services provided by several publishers were evaluated, following the ICOLC and COUNTER guidelines. To apply the usage statistics of electronic journal on the library collection development, it is necessary that libraries, related association and publishers accomplish more consistent and practical usage statistics components. And it is recommended that publisher and aggregator accommodate the guideline for electronic journal usage report.

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to redefine imperial cultural properties and pass on and provide the elegant value of imperial cultural properties with the Allen Collection's promotion to retrieve imperial cultural properties. Design/methodology/approach - This study was approached to deal with the essential interpretation of cultural improvement through discussion in the cultural science approach Findings - As a result of examining ways to revitalize tourism resources using Allen Collection, it is necessary to cultivate international manners and knowledge levels in strengthening imperial awareness through the establishment of imperial museums, enacting laws on standards for designation of imperial cultural assets, and promoting them. In addition, policy needs such as the development plan of the imperial cultural festival, re-establishment, application, reuse, re-establishment, and reproduction according to environmental changes, and technical support and monitoring systems for investigating and preserving imperial cultural assets are needed. Research implications or Originality - The study on the device imperial cultural assets as tour resources the cultural assets mate be not only preserved and inherited to the descendant but also useful in contemporary national emotion positively. for we could obtain wide national support and co-operation in the protection work of cultural assets. What makes our cultural assets leaved indifferent before destruction like this most of all, it is form indifference of the people, we must make an effort to meet with recognizing the value of useful cultural assets by mean of utilizing cultural assets as tour resources to inhibit more damage of destruction of cultural assets.

The aim of this study is supporting efficient development of library collection and improvement of library service for users by analyzing utilization patterns of library collection using circulation statistics of medical library users. With this purpose, circulation statistics were extracted from 90,420 cases of circulation records in A library for recent 3 years (from 2012 to 2014). Specifically, circulation data categorized according to status and subject, loan data of most popular books and use data of inter-library loan service were collected and analyzed. Subject groups of this study are undergraduate students, graduate students and incumbent hospital employees including faculty members, training members and nondoctor members. For the result, medical library users intensively lent materials of Technology (Applied Sciences), Literature and Social science areas. Especially, the demand of the materials of literature was higher than the demand of the other subject areas compared in the base of collection development.

In this paper, we have studied the technical contribution of internet as a computer mediated communication(CMC) tool for collection management. A new communication process is appearing due to the development of information technology and telecommunications technology which enable users to have an access to information without the help of librarian. Also, internet makes collection management possible in the absence of vendors. This study found out that internet reinforces the traditional functions of collection management and enables librarians to better perform their roles. The future library manager should become actively involved in the development of technology in order to manage resources of internet focusing on the needs of user. Also, we have concluded that collection management should be modernized and transformed with its emphasis on the new evaluation method and assessment of quality when offering resources of internet in the communication process using computers.

A total of 7039 strains of filamentous fungi are preserved in Korean Agricultural Culture Collection (KACC). The 4065 strains (58%) of them, which produce many spores in cultivation on proper media, are preserved with freeze-drying method. They are also preserved with liquid nitrogen and deep-freezer storage in order to minimize loss by death. Aspergillus, Penicillium, Lichtheimia, Mucor, Rhizopus, etc. which are common in surrounding environments, are included in this category. The others which do not produce spores, or produce few spores in vitro, are preserved with liquid nitrogen, deep-freezer and mineral oil storage. Phytophthora, Pythium, Cercospora, Septoria, Rhizoctonia, etc. are included in this category. The authors also introduced various fungal preservation methods and provided detailed preservation procedures that are used in KACC.

IR(Institutional Repository) is an indispensable instrument for not only long time preservation of intellectual products but also for shifting commercial publishing company-dominated academic communication stream. In Korea, dCollection project of Ministry of education, science and technology has contributed on immediate, integrated circulation of distributed research products. dCollection is already one of the few integrating instrument for distributed academic resources, but it has not been university's voluntary instrument to announce their research accomplishments and to realize open access. On the other hand, Japanese government has promoted universities' IR operation through "Next generation infrastructure construction project." Even though distributing speed is relatively low, each university made ripe operating skill by their selves and realize its own purpose. This study comparatively analyzed policy and current status of Institutional Repository in Korea and Japan from various viewpoints. And also it proposed directions of development about Korean Institutional Repositories.

This study suggests the development of a classification system for the Independent Movement Records of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs based on the collection of Gonghun Digital Archive based on sources, subjects, and media types. First, the classification system by source is organized by hierarchy, and the records classified by source are classified into the second category based on the related keyword. Then, the records are classified into 17 media types. Finally, it is described in the citation order of "source-subject-media type." In addition, a meaningful collection using inductive methods based on the subject words is derived. Finally, Gonghun Digital Archive collections are categorized by media types, sources, and subjects so that users can easily find the records. The result of this study is a classification system to support records retrieval of an independent movement collection, and it will become a basis for expanding the accessibility of the user and the service of independent movement records.

In a situation with reducing numbers of students and local universities in crisis, this study aims to analyze collection and loan usage data in small-sized university libraries and present evidence for guiding their collection development policy. The data was collected from Rinfo from 2010 to 2022 regarding the numbers of enrolled students, collected books, book loans, and electronic resources and compared the average values of entire 4-year university libraries to those of small-sized ones by year and region. Results show that while the numbers of enrolled students and book loans have decreased in both of groups, the number of collected books has increased 30% more in small groups and the amount of electronic resource use has increased enormously as well. Correlation analysis presents that both of groups have the consistent result. It is suggested that small-sized university libraries should highly increase their budget ratio to electronic resources for collection development and build a consortium by university's speciality for mutual use of electronic resources.
