Digital Collection and Development Initiatives in Engineering College Libraries: An Analytical Survey

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the initiatives on digital collection and development in engineering college libraries in the Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh. Eighty-one engineering college libraries in Rayalaseema Region have been surveyed to assess the initiatives taken on digital collection and development. This paper highlights opinions of librarians on most preferred digital materials and various digital resources acquainted with their library. The digital library initiatives cover a variety of activities starting from the digital collection building, digitization, digital collection, maintenance, and digital preservation. It is found that 34.57% of libraries are in the process of building digital collections, which is an encouraging trend among Engineering Educational Institutions in Rayalaseema Region.

  • The discharge and the collection efficiency characteristics of an electrostatic precipitator have been studied under various operating conditions. The specific resistivity of pulverized coal dust was about 1013∼1014[${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$] and reached the maximum value of 6${\times}$1013[${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$] at 150[$^{\circ}C$]. Back corona has been occurred as dust contents and gas temperature increase. In the case of back corona occurrence, collection effciency decreased rapidly. This problem has been solved by increasing moisture contents. Experimental results showed that collection efficiency of the full wave voltage was higher than that of the pulse wave voltage. The modification parameter k of the collection efficiency equation was about 0.42.

톰 브라운의 컬렉션에 나타난 패러디 (Parody Expressed in Thom Browne's Collection)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept and characteristics of parody, and consider how parody was reflected in Thom Browne's collection centering on the expressive method. Thus, this study will attempt to shed new light on the creative possibility and artistic value of parody in men's fashion design. The methods are as follows. The ideas, characteristics and expressive methods that represent parody was considered by referencing various related books, papers, art critiques, etc. Based on this theoretical study, a case of Thom Browne's collection (Thom Browne menswear: 2004 S/S-2012 F/W) was observed to find types of parody, attributes and significance. Photo material was collected through websites such as www.thombrowne.com, www.style.com, etc. The type and characteristics of parody expressed in Thom Browne's collection was considered in the following aspects: imitative parody, critical parody and pastiche parody. Through such consideration, it was possible to realize the fashion designs that adapt Thom Browne's parody are very deliberate and calculative. The designs convey exaggeration, destruction of form, emphasis on discontinuity, transition into attraction, aesthetics of unfamiliarity, characteristic aspects of irrationality and contradiction. Through the study, it was possible to see Thom Browne's collection with parody adaptation shaping new creativity and broadening formative aspects in fashion design.

대학도서관 장서개발담당 사서의 전문성 역량에 관한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study on the Professional Competencies of Collection Development Librarians in Academic Libraries)

  • 이 연구에서는 대학도서관에서 장서개발 업무를 담당하고 있는 사서들의 인식을 토대로 장서개발 사서가 전문가로서 지녀야 할 전문성의 요건들을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국내 4년제 대학도서관에서 장서개발을 담당하고 있는 8명의 사서들을 대상으로 질적 면담을 실시하였으며, 그 결과 문헌정보학 지식, 주제분야 배경지식, 그리고 사서로서의 정체성이 상위 범주로 제시되었고 그 아래 총 13개의 하위범주와 37개의 의미단위가 제시되었다. 이를 통하여 이 연구에서는 장서개발 담당 사서의 전문성에 대한 이론적인 요건과 실제 현장에서 제기하고 있는 요소들을 종합함으로써 향후 장서개발 담당 사서의 전문성 제고를 위한 교육 훈련 프로그램 구축에 기초적인 자료를 제공하고자 하였다.

효과적인 시민참여를 위한 기저귀 재활용 정책방안 - 노원구의 사용 후 기저귀 수거 시범사업 결과를 중심으로 - (Policy Options for Diaper Recycling to Foster Effective Citizens' Participation - Based on Collection Pilot Test of Soiled Diaper in Nowon-gu -)

  • 본 연구는 기저귀 재활용을 정책적으로 도입하고자 할 때 최적의 수거방안을 마련하고자 어린이집이 밀집된 지방자치단체와 수거 시범사업을 수행함으로써 수거에 따른 문제점을 파악하고 개선점을 도출해 보고자 하였다. 모니터링 결과 배출방식에 대한 명확한 안내와 배출량에 대한 면밀한 분석이 필요하고 언론홍보를 통한 기저귀 재활용의 중요성에 대한 교육적 역할이 중요하다는 점이 도출되었다. 또한 시범사업 참여자에게 인센티브 제공이 필요하며, 수거 인프라 관련 비용은 공공영역에서 부담해야 한다고 생각하고 있었다. 수거 비용 관련해서 본 시범운영에서는 기저귀 수거만 전문으로 할 수 있는 여건이 형성되지 않았기 때문에 경제성이 있는 수거비용이 산출되지 않았으나 향후 본 제도를 활성화하기 위해 수도권으로 확대할 경우 주 2회 빈도에 고효율 수집차량을 운행하면서 수거율 50% 수준의 수거모델을 운영한다면, 현행 음식물 쓰레기 처리비용 수준이하의 수거 비용을 확보하여 경제적 측면에서 효율적일 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 충분한 수거량 확보를 통한 안정적인 수거모델 구축과 함께 재활용 기술 개발이 진행된다면 기저귀 재활용을 통한 지속가능한 사회 구축에 한발 더 근접할 수 있을 것이다.

국내 패션컬렉션에 나타난 해외 패션트렌드의 수용도 분석 (Analysis on the Acceptance of Foreign Fashion Trends in Korean Fashion Collection)

  • This study investigates the analysis on the acceptance of Foreign Fashion trends in Korean Fashion Collection by collections, years, season, and designers. The purpose of this study is Korean collection's degree to adopt and receive foreign collections, by comparative analysis of design features between Seoul and foreign collections. For such purpose, from 2006 S/S to 2011 F/W, 5185 pictures were collected from designer's photos of Seoul, Paris, Milan, NY, and London collections. The content analysis and statistical analysis using SPSS will be conducted for data analysis. The results of the research are as follows. First, regarding the design features, square-form silhouette, achromatic colors, and none pattern were presented as well. Second, there were significant differences in the design characteristics of each year. Particularly, in 2008, X-form silhouette, Yellow and Green color, and flower pattern were emphasized. Third, the design features by season were significant differences. In S/S season, square-form and X-form silhouette, achromatic colors of white and gray color, none pattern were evident while in F/W season, square-form Silhouette, achromatic colors of black and gray, and none pattern were emphasized. Fourth, the design features by designer are as follows. In terms of form, Seoul collection was influenced by Paris collection. In terms of colors, it was influenced by NY and London collections.

선체 표면 공사시 발생하는 분진 수거 장치 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Dust Collection System for Hull Repair)

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of hybrid collection system combined with centrifugal force of cyclone and filtration of bag filter in one unit system. The experiment and numerical simulation are executed for the analysis of collection efficiency and pressure drop characteristics of hybrid system in comparison with those of a general fabric bag filter with the various experimental parameters such as inlet velocity(filtration velocity), dust concentration and dust type, etc.. In present system, dust particles tangentially coming into the system body are controlled by the centrifugal force effect, and the next collection is made out by the filtration mechanism in the fabric filter media. Therefore, the effective first collection causes the decrease of dust loading on the fabric filter, and it presents quite a lower pressure drop of fabric filter than that of a general fabric filter. At the inlet velocity, $21{\sim}27m/sec$ and inlet concentration(fly ash) $300mg/m^3$, pressure drops through the filter media of hybrid system are shown lower as $10{\sim}22mmH_2O$ comparing to those($17{\sim}33mmH_2O$) of a general fabric bag filter.

과학기술정보 장서개발정책에 관한 동향연구 (A Trend Study on Collection Development Policy for Science and Technology Information Resources)

  • 세계의 대표적인 국가 과학기술정보기관들은 국가 경쟁력을 증진하기 위하여 연구자들에게 연구개발정보를 제공하고 있다. 장서개발정책은 과학기술정보기관이 연구개발을 위한 정보자원을 선별하고 정보자원을 상호 연계하여 정보네트워크를 구축하기 위한 가이드라인이다. 본 논문은 국가 과학기술정보기관의 장서개발정책의 주요 요소를 도출하기 위해서 미국의 국가의학도서관 (NLM), 영국국립도서관 (BL), 캐나다과학기술정보연구원 (CISTI), 한국과학기술정보연구원 (KISTI)의 장서개발정책을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 과학기술정보기관들이 장서개발정책 수립시 가이드라인으로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

사이클론 집진장치의 내부온도에 따른 외부 소용돌이와 집진효율의 관계 (Relationship between the Outer Vortex and the Collection Efficiency with respect to Temperatures in the Cyclone Dust Collector)

  • This study compares the results of collection efficiency of difference gas temperature in cyclone dust collector. The previous researcher's experiment results were used to confirm the reliability of CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) model. Based on this verified CFD model, we extended the analysis on the cyclone dust collectors. In CFD study, we used RNG k-epsilon model for analysis of turbulence flow, fluid is air, the velocity at inlet is 10 m/s, the temperature of air is $20^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$. As the temperature decreases, the average velocity of outer vortex and collection efficiency is increased, showed the highest collection efficiency at $20^{\circ}C$. It can be inferred smooth flow in cyclone dust collector is difficult because air viscosity increases as temperature increases. The power required at $1000^{\circ}C$ is almost 18 times greater than that of $20^{\circ}C$ to get the similar collection efficiency.

Antimicrobial Effects of Oleanolic Acid, Ursolic Acid, and Sophoraflavanone G against Enterococcus faecalis and Propionibacterium acnes

  • The aim of this study was to investigate antimicrobial effect of oleanolic acid (OA), ursolic acid (UA), and sophoraflavanone G against Enterococcus faecalis and Propionibacterium acnes, which are the major causative bacteria of endodontic infections. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC). The data showed that the OA, UA, and sophoraflavanone G had antimicrobial effect on all the strains use in the study with $16-64{\mu}g/ml$, $8-64{\mu}g/ml$, and $1-8{\mu}g/ml$ of MIC values, respectively. These results indicate that OA, UA, and sophoraflavanone G could be useful in the development of antiseptic solution for washing the root canal in endodontic treatments.
