  • The effectiveness of recommendation systems depends on the performance of the algorithms with which these systems are designed. The quality of the algorithms themselves depends on the quality of the strategies with which they were designed. These strategies differ from author to author. Thus, designing a good recommendation system means implementing the good strategies. It's in this context that several research works have been proposed on various strategies applied to algorithms to meet the needs of recommendations. Researchers are trying indefinitely to address this objective of seeking the qualities of recommendation algorithms. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for recommending learning items. Learner performance predictions and collaborative recommendation methods are used as strategies for this algorithm. The proposed performance prediction model is based on convolutional neural networks (CNN). The results of the performance predictions are used by the proposed recommendation algorithm. The results of the predictions obtained show the efficiency of Deep Learning compared to the k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) algorithm. The proposed recommendation algorithm improves the recommendations of the learners' learning items. This algorithm also has the particularity of dissuading learning items in the learner's profile that are deemed inadequate for his or her training.

  • The number and variety of products and services offered by companies have increased dramatically, providing customers with more choices to meet their needs. As a solution to this information overload problem, the provision of tailored services to individuals has become increasingly important, and the personalized recommender systems have been widely studied and used in both academia and industry. Existing recommender systems face important problems in practical applications. The most important problem is that it cannot clearly explain why it recommends these products. In recent years, some researchers have found that the explanation of recommender systems may be very useful. As a result, users are generally increasing conversion rates, satisfaction, and trust in the recommender system if it is explained why those particular items are recommended. Therefore, this study presents a methodology of providing an explanatory function of a recommender system using a review text left by a user. The basic idea is not to use all of the user's reviews, but to provide them in a summarized form using only reviews left by similar users or neighbors involved in recommending the item as an explanation when providing the recommended item to the user. To achieve this research goal, this study aims to provide a product recommendation list using user-based collaborative filtering techniques, combine reviews left by neighboring users with each product to build a model that combines text summary methods among deep learning-based natural language processing methods. Using the IMDb movie database, text reviews of all target user neighbors' movies are collected and summarized to present descriptions of recommended movies. There are several text summary methods, but this study aims to evaluate whether the review summary is well performed by training the Sequence-to-sequence+attention model, which is a representative generation summary method, and the BertSum model, which is an extraction summary model.

  • The recommender system analyzes users' preference and predicts the users' preference to items in order to recommend various items such as book, movie and music for the users. The collaborative filtering method is used most widely in the recommender system. The method uses rating information of similar users when recommending items for the target users. Performance of the collaborative filtering-based recommendation is lowered when attacker maliciously manipulates the rating information on items. This kind of malicious act on a recommender system is called 'Recommendation Attack'. When the evaluation data that are in continuous change are analyzed in the perspective of data stream, it is possible to predict attack on the recommender system. In this paper, we will suggest the method to detect attack on the recommender system by using the stream trend of the item evaluation in the collaborative filtering-based recommender system. Since the information on item evaluation included in the evaluation data tends to change frequently according to passage of time, the measurement of changes in item evaluation in a fixed period of time can enable detection of attack on the recommender system. The method suggested in this paper is to compare the evaluation stream that is entered continuously with the normal stream trend in the test cycle for attack detection with a view to detecting the abnormal stream trend. The proposed method can enhance operability of the recommender system and re-usability of the evaluation data. The effectiveness of the method was verified in various experiments.

  • Recently, the diversification and individualization of consumption patterns through the web and mobile devices based on the Internet have been rapid. As this happens, the efficient operation of the offline store, which is a traditional distribution channel, has become more important. In order to raise both the sales and profits of stores, stores need to supply and sell the most attractive products to consumers in a timely manner. However, there is a lack of research on which SKUs, out of many products, can increase sales probability and reduce inventory costs. In particular, if a company sells products through multiple in-store stores across multiple locations, it would be helpful to increase sales and profitability of stores if SKUs appealing to customers are recommended. In this study, the recommender system (recommender system such as collaborative filtering and hybrid filtering), which has been used for personalization recommendation, is suggested by SKU recommendation method of a store unit of a distribution company that handles a homogeneous brand through a plurality of sales stores by country and region. We calculated the similarity of each store by using the purchase data of each store's handling items, filtering the collaboration according to the sales history of each store by each SKU, and finally recommending the individual SKU to the store. In addition, the store is classified into four clusters through PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and cluster analysis (Clustering) using the store profile data. The recommendation system is implemented by the hybrid filtering method that applies the collaborative filtering in each cluster and measured the performance of both methods based on actual sales data. Most of the existing recommendation systems have been studied by recommending items such as movies and music to the users. In practice, industrial applications have also become popular. In the meantime, there has been little research on recommending SKUs for each store by applying these recommendation systems, which have been mainly dealt with in the field of personalization services, to the store units of distributors handling similar brands. If the recommendation method of the existing recommendation methodology was 'the individual field', this study expanded the scope of the store beyond the individual domain through a plurality of sales stores by country and region and dealt with the store unit of the distribution company handling the same brand SKU while suggesting a recommendation method. In addition, if the existing recommendation system is limited to online, it is recommended to apply the data mining technique to develop an algorithm suitable for expanding to the store area rather than expanding the utilization range offline and analyzing based on the existing individual. The significance of the results of this study is that the personalization recommendation algorithm is applied to a plurality of sales outlets handling the same brand. A meaningful result is derived and a concrete methodology that can be constructed and used as a system for actual companies is proposed. It is also meaningful that this is the first attempt to expand the research area of the academic field related to the existing recommendation system, which was focused on the personalization domain, to a sales store of a company handling the same brand. From 05 to 03 in 2014, the number of stores' sales volume of the top 100 SKUs are limited to 52 SKUs by collaborative filtering and the hybrid filtering method SKU recommended. We compared the performance of the two recommendation methods by totaling the sales results. The reason for comparing the two recommendation methods is that the recommendation method of this study is defined as the reference model in which offline collaborative filtering is applied to demonstrate higher performance than the existing recommendation method. The results of this model are compared with the Hybrid filtering method, which is a model that reflects the characteristics of the offline store view. The proposed method showed a higher performance than the existing recommendation method. The proposed method was proved by using actual sales data of large Korean apparel companies. In this study, we propose a method to extend the recommendation system of the individual level to the group level and to efficiently approach it. In addition to the theoretical framework, which is of great value.

  • The development of computer and information technology has been combined with the information superhighway internet infrastructure, so information widely spreads not only in special fields but also in the daily lives of people. Information ubiquity influences the traditional way of transaction, and leads a new E-commerce which distinguishes from the existing E-commerce. Not only goods as physical but also service as non-physical come into E-commerce. As the scale of E-Commerce is being enlarged as well. It keeps people from finding information they want. Recommender systems are now becoming the main tools for E-Commerce to mitigate the information overload. Recommender systems can be defined as systems for suggesting some Items(goods or service) considering customers' interests or tastes. They are being used by E-commerce web sites to suggest products to their customers who want to find something for them and to provide them with information to help them decide which to purchase. There are several approaches of recommending goods to customer in recommender system but in this study, the main subject is focused on collaborative filtering technique. This study presents a possibility of pre-evaluation for the prediction performance of customer's preference in collaborative filtering before the process of customer's preference prediction. Pre-evaluation for the prediction performance of each customer having low performance is classified by using the statistical features of ratings rated by each customer is conducted before the prediction process. In this study, MovieLens 100K dataset is used to analyze the accuracy of classification. The classification criteria are set by using the training sets divided 80% from the 100K dataset. In the process of classification, the customers are divided into two groups, classified group and non classified group. To compare the prediction performance of classified group and non classified group, the prediction process runs the 20% test set through the Neighborhood Based Collaborative Filtering Algorithm and Correspondence Mean Algorithm. The prediction errors from those prediction algorithm are allocated to each customer and compared with each user's error. Research hypothesis : Two research hypotheses are formulated in this study to test the accuracy of the classification criterion as follows. Hypothesis 1: The estimation accuracy of groups classified according to the standard deviation of each user's ratings has significant difference. To test the Hypothesis 1, the standard deviation is calculated for each user in training set which is divided 80% from MovieLens 100K dataset. Four groups are classified according to the quartile of the each user's standard deviations. It is compared to test the estimation errors of each group which results from test set are significantly different. Hypothesis 2: The estimation accuracy of groups that are classified according to the distribution of each user's ratings have significant differences. To test the Hypothesis 2, the distributions of each user's ratings are compared with the distribution of ratings of all customers in training set which is divided 80% from MovieLens 100K dataset. It assumes that the customers whose ratings' distribution are different from that of all customers would have low performance, so six types of different distributions are set to be compared. The test groups are classified into fit group or non-fit group according to the each type of different distribution assumed. The degrees in accordance with each type of distribution and each customer's distributions are tested by the test of ${\chi}^2$ goodness-of-fit and classified two groups for testing the difference of the mean of errors. Also, the degree of goodness-of-fit with the distribution of each user's ratings and the average distribution of the ratings in the training set are closely related to the prediction errors from those prediction algorithms. Through this study, the customers who have lower performance of prediction than the rest in the system are classified by those two criteria, which are set by statistical features of customers ratings in the training set, before the prediction process.

  • Until now, popular paradigms to provide e-catalog documents that are adapted to users' needs are keyword search or collaborative filtering based recommendation. Since users' queries are too short to represent what users want, it is hard to provide the users with e-catalog documents that are adapted to their needs(i.e., queries and preferences). Although various techniques have beenproposed to overcome this problem, they are based on index term matching. A conventional Bayesian belief network-based approach represents the users' needs and e-catalog documents with their corresponding concepts. However, since the concepts are the index terms that are extracted from the e-catalog documents, it is hard to represent relationships between concepts. In our work, we extend the conventional Bayesian belief network based approach to represent users' needs and e-catalog documents with a concept network which is derived from the Web directory. By exploiting the concept network, it is possible to search conceptually relevant e-catalog documents although they do not contain the index terms of queries. Furthermore, by computing the conceptual similarity between users, we can exploit a semantic collaborative filtering technique for recommending e-catalog documents.

  • Recommender system helps customers to find easily items and helps the e-biz companies to set easily their target customer by automated recommending process. Recommender systems are being adopted by several e-biz companies and from these systems, both of customers and companies take some benefits. This study sets several thresholds to the similarity weight, which indicates a degree of similarity of two customers' preference, to improve the performance of prediction accuracy. According to the threshold, the accuracy of prediction is being improved but some threshold setting shows the reduction of the prediction rate, which is the coverage. This coverage reduction has male effect on the prediction accuracy of customers, so more study on the prediction accuracy of recommender system and to maximize the coverage are needed.

  • With the development of smartphones and online social networks, users produce a lot of contents and share them with each other. Therefore, users spend time by viewing or receiving the contents they do not want. In order to solve such problems, schemes for recommending useful contents have been actively studied. In this paper, we propose a contents recommendation scheme using collaborative filtering for users on online social networks. The proposed scheme consider a user trust in order to remove user data that lower the accuracy of recommendation. The user trust is derived by analyzing the user activity of online social network. For evaluating the user trust from various points of view, we collect user activities that have not been used in conventional techniques. It is shown through performance evaluation that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced recommendation technique for personalized e-commerce portal analyzing various attitudes of customer. The attitudes are classifies into three types such as "purchasing product", "adding product to shopping cart", and "viewing the product information". We implicitly track customer attitude to estimate the rating of products for recommending products. We classified user groups which have similar preference for each item using implicit user behavior. The preference similarity is estimated using the Cross Correlation Coefficient. Our recommendation technique shows a high degree of accuracy as we use age and gender to group the customers with similar preference. In the experimental section, we show that our method can provide better performance than other traditional recommender system in terms of accuracy.

  • With the fast development of Internet environment, e-Commerce is rapidly increasing. n the expanding e-Commerce environment, the need for a new e-Commerce systems what will deliver products to the customer rapidly and increase sales is growing bigger. Recently, these requirements brought many researches on recommender systems. However, until now, those recommender systems have a limit because it takes too much time for recommender systems to give customers the recommendations in real time, if the number of purchase data of customers is large. So this paper concerns on the recommender systems using collaborative filtering as one of the solutions to increase the competitive power. We proposed and experimented the more improved recommender systems which could decrease the data size to shorten the recommending time by using the representative category of the product which customers want to buy. Also, we design and implement a recommender system using Enterprise JavaBeans.
