보강롤 구동 냉간압연기에서의 적정 작업롤 수평위치 설정기법 개발 (Prediction of Proper Horizontal Position of Work Roll in Backup Roll Driven-type Cold Rolling Mill)

  • For the purpose of rolling hard metals such as silicon steel and non-ferrous metals, the backup roll driven-type mill has been widely used in cold rolling industry. Since the backup roll drive results in horizontal bending of the work rolls and therefore exerted reciprocal action on the roll gap contour, the selection of slim work rolls is very restricted. In this paper, we present an analytic equation based scheme to determine a proper horizontal position of work roll minimizing the horizontal force subject to mechanical constraints.

국부좌굴을 고려한 냉간성형 ㄷ 형강보의 응력해석 (Stress Analysis of Cold-Formed Steel Beams Considering Local Buckling Effects)

  • 본 논문에서는 냉간성형 ㄷ 형강보에 대해 국부좌굴을 고려한 휨해석을 하였다. 유한요소법을 이용하여 주어진 하중 상태에서의 응력을 구한후 국부좌굴 효과를 고려하기 위해규준에서 주어진 유효폭 개념을 이용하여 유효 단면적을 결정하였으며, 결정된 유효 단면적으로부터 응력을 계산 하였다. x축에 대한 휨응력 뿐 아니라 y축에 대한 휨응력과 뒤틀림 응력값을 고려하였으며, 이를 하중이 전단중심에 작용하는 경우와 도심에 작용하는 두가지의 경우에 대하여 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 결과는 하중-처짐 곡선으로 나타내었다.

  • Good shape on flat rolled product is necessary to meet today's customer quality requirement. To meet the increasing demand in quality of strip shape from downstream customers, POSCO has replaced the Automatic Shape Control(ASC) system with the existing one that had used noncontact type measuring system at No.2 Cold Rolling Mill, Pohang works in October, 1995. The strip shape is influenced by the profile, roll crown, bending control, skew control system, as well as work roll cooling system. We have used ASC to adjust those factors in Cold Rolling Mill that could get a satisfactory result, almost less than .+-.5 1-unit deviation from the target shape. However, the downstream customer(i.e. Continuos Annealing Line) wants a good shape not only at the moment of exit of roll bite, but after rolling without tension. In this investigation, the difference will be discussed and how deal with this problem.

이종금속의 상온압접에 관한 연구 (A study on the cold pressure welding of dissimilar metals)

  • This paper presents the weldability for cold pressure but welding method in junction of dissimilar metals each other. Although the weldability between the same aluminium metal plate welding has been studied, the study of itthe rod of aluminium and coper has not fully been investigated. The purpose is to suggest the optimal conditions on the rod of those under above method. To obtain the optimal conditions, associated experiments were performed in a various welding parameters. Consequently, it was proved that the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness and bending strength could be obtained excellent particularly under the welding conditions; pressure is $(32~39) {\times} 10^3/kg/cm^2$, time is beyond 70 seconds, stage is higher than fifth stage.

Effect of angle stiffeners on the flexural strength and stiffness of cold-formed steel beams

  • Cold-formed steel (CFS) sections when used as primary load carrying members often require additional strengthening for retrofitting purposes. In some cases, it is also necessary to reduce deflections in order to satisfy serviceability requirements. The introduction of angle sections, screwed to the webs so as to act as external stiffeners, has the potential to both increase flexural strength as well as reduce deflections. This paper presents the results of ten four-point bending tests, on built-up CFS sections, both open and closed, with different stiffening arrangements. In the laboratory tests, the stiffening arrangements increased the moment capacity and stiffness of the CFS beams by up to 85% and 100% respectively. The increase in moment capacity was more evident for the open sections, while that reduction in deflection was largest for the closed sections.

Comprehensive Residual Stress Distributions in a Range of Plate and Pipe Components

  • A comprehensive review of through thickness transverse residual stress distributions in a range of as-welded and mechanically bent components made up of a range of steels has been carried out, and simplified generic transverse residual stress profiles for a plate and pipe components have been proposed. The geometries consisted of welded pipe butt joints, T-plate joints, tubular T-joints, tubular Y-joints and a pipe on plate joints as well as cold bent tubes and pipes. The collected data covered a range of engineering steels including ferritic, austenitic, C-Mn and Cr-Mo steels. Measured residual stress data, normalised with respect to the parent material yield stress, has shown a good linear correlation versus the normalised depth of the region containing the residual stress resulting from the welding or cold-bending process. The proposed simplified generic residual stress profiles based on the mean statistical linear fit of all the data provides a reasonably conservative prediction of the stress intensity factors. Whereas the profiles for the assessment procedures are fixed and case specific, the simple bilinear profiles for the residual stresses obtained by shifting the mean and bending stress from the mean regression line have been proposed and validated.

  • Internal tin processed Nb$_3$Sn wires of intermediated worked state of were took from Mitsubishi and fabricated with various diameters ranging from 0.76 mm to 0.2 mm. These specimens were heat-treated at $460^{\circ}C$ for 70 h and at $570^{\circ}C$ for 100h to form bronze and at $700^{\circ}C$ for 100h to form Nb$_3$Sn compound. Bending strain Ic s of the wires were measured with various bending diameters ranging from flat to 76 mm. In order to investigate the sensitivity for strain, small diameters of wires were strain Ic at 6 T, 4.2 K. There were no breakage decrease during cold working to 0.2 mm of diameter and no decrease Jc to the diameter of 0.3 mm. The values of bending strain Ic of 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm diameters of the wires were not decreased at 76 mm of bending diameter.

OPTIMAL PROCESSING AND SYSTEM MANUFACTURING OF A LASER WELDED TUBE FOR AN AUTOMOBILE BUMPER BEAM

  • A study has been conducted for an optimal processing and an apparatus for manufacturing a laser welded tube for one-body formed bumper beam. The tube dimensions used in calculation were the thickness of 1.4 mm, the diameter of 105.4 mm and the length of 2000 mm. The tube was formed of a cold rolled high strength steel plate(tensile strength of 600 MPa). The two-roll bending method was the optimal tube forming process in comparison with the UO-bending method, the bending method on the press brake, the multi-step continuous roll-forming method and the 3-roll bending method. Monitoring of the welding quality was conducted and the seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis was also examined. The longitudinal butt-joint was welded by using a $CO_2$ laser welding machine equipped with a seam tracker and a plasma sensor. The $CO_2$ laser tube welding machine could be used for precise seam tracking and real-time monitoring of the welding quality. As a result, the developed laser welded tube could be used for a one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

  • It is important that study on cryogenic electrical insulation design to develop the cold dielectric(CD) type HTS cable because the cable is operated under the high voltage environment in cryogenic temperature. This paper proposes two types of insulation design to carry out the maximum insulation design for 154 kV-class HT cable. The proposed insulation design method takes into consideration AC and lightning impulse withstand voltage so as to prevent AC breakdown for power frequency operating voltage during operating the cable and breakdown for lightning impulse voltage. The final insulation thickness is determined by selecting high value out of two insulation thickness calculated through the two insulation design methods. And we researched electrical insulation characteristics of HTS cable according to bending ratio and the number of bending.

  • Optimal process and system to produce the laser welded tube for one body formed bumper beam are studied. The calculated size of tube is a thickness of 1.4mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm. The tube is shaped from a cold rolled high strength steel sheet(tensile strength: 60kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade). Two roll bending method is the optimal tube shaping process compared to UO-bending, bending on press brake, multi-step continuous roll forming and 3 roll bending methods. Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are also studied. The constructed $CO_2$laser tube welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality. Finally, the obtained laser welded tube can be used for one-body formed automobile bumper beam.
