The research investigated the interaction effect of video resolution and device luminance on the perceived characteristics, presence, and fatigue viewing virtual reality. Experiments were composed of mixed design, and the resolution and luminance were classified into three types, HD, 2K, and 4K, and 20, 60, and 100, respectively. Participants watched video of 6-minutes randomly, and responded to the questionnaire after watching each video. The results showed that no interaction effect existed. Meanwhile, there are statistically significant differences on the luminance of depth perception, the resolution of visual intervention, and the resolution of adjustment fatigue. Also, higher resolution and luminance showed higher cognitive function, presence and fatigue.
Objectives: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating illness impairing seriously quality of life, while CFS would be an optimized target disorder of Korean medicine. This study aims to present the recent information especially in aspect of medical policy and new diagnosis criteria for CFS. Methods: The literature survey was conducted using the terms of "chronic fatigue syndrome", "myalgic encephalomyelitis" and "fibromyalgia" in PubMed database and Google database in its entirety from January 2011 to February 2019. The in-depth review was made focusing on the changes in policy and medical perspective for CFS. Results: Recently large medical attentions and researches for CFS have been existed worldwide. By supporting of USA government, IOM made a report which leaded to a turning point in clinical practices and research in 2015. This report recommended a new name of CFS to systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID), and new diagnostic criteria focusing on post-exertional malaise, unrefreshing sleep, cognitive impairment and orthostatic intolerance. The medical perspective also was changed into "a serious, chronic, complex, systemic disease" from a psychological-like disorder, and then UAS and EU governments sharply increased the research grants. Conclusions: This study provided practitioners in Korean medicine (KM) a core information about the recent changes in CFS-related perspectives. This review would be helpful for KM-derived researches or therapeutics development for CFS.

Fighter pilot's ability to maintain both mental and physical capabilities in highly stressful situations is important for aviation safety as well as mission performance because pilot may confront frequently unexpected physical and psychological stimulation. Cumulative psychological stress and physical fatigue can be causes of mood distortion, declined alertness, and can lead to reduction of combat capability. We have investigated bio-signals and performance tests to monitor stress and fatigue levels, and developed a system to evaluate aviation mission suitability before flight. This study elucidated that stress and fatigue level of pilot can be monitored by psychomotor cognitive test(PCT) and heart rate variability(HRV), and that the best of reference for aviation mission suitability was confidential interval obtained from cumulative data of individuals. The system to evaluate aviation mission suitability was constructed with measuring part with PCT and HRV and control part with DB and algorithm.
Objectives: Modafinil is a waking drug prescribed to narcolepsy patients, but its usage among healthy individuals is increasing to enhance their alertness or to mitigate fatigue. This study was conducted to investigate practical use and toxic effects on neuro-immune interaction of modafinil. Methods: This study reviewed the significance of psychoactive drugs, and discussed the benefits and risks of the application of modafinil, which seems to be ideal as an anti-psychotic or anti-fatigue agent. Results: Modafinil is known to have less or no adverse effects than those found in traditional psychostimulants such as amphetamine, methylphenidate or cocaine. It can be applied as an anti-psychotic or anti-fatigue agent. However, the waking mechanism of modafinil is yet to be fully revealed. Recent studies reported that modafinil may be subject to abuse and addiction. In addition prolonged sleeplessness induces stress responses and impairs immune function. Conclusions: Modafinil can be used by anyone, who wishes to work late, stay awake, enhance their cognitive reactions, or brighten their moods. Users may already be under a great level of stress, i.e. cancer patients or soldiers in a battle field. A psychoneuroimmunological approach is thus needed to investigate the multi-functional effects of modafinil.

In this paper, we introduce a probabilistic model based on Bayesian networks (BNs) for inferring human fatigue by integrating information from various visual cues and certain relevant contextual information. Visual parameters, typically characterizing the cognitive states of a person including parameters related to eyelid movement, gaze, head movement, and facial expression, serve as the sensory observations. But, an individual visual cue or contextual Information does not provide enough information to determine human fatigue. Therefore in this paper, a Bayesian network model was developed to fuse as many as possible contextual and visual cue information for monitoring human fatigue. At the experiment results, display the utility of the proposed BNs for predicting and modeling fatigue.
Background: Night shift work is associated with many problems such as sleep deprivation, sleepiness, decreased cognitive performance, increased human errors, and fatigue. This study set out to measure cognitive performance, melatonin rhythms, and sleep after different consecutive night shifts (7 vs. 4) among control room operators (CORs). Methods: The participants included 60 CORs with a mean age of 30.2 years (standard deviation, 2.0) from a petrochemical complex located in Southern Iran. Cognitive performance was assessed using the n-back task and continuous performance test. To evaluate melatonin, saliva was collected and tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. To assess sleep and sleepiness, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Karolinska Sleepiness Scale were used, respectively. Results: Individuals who worked 7 consecutive night shifts had a significantly better cognitive performance and sleep quality than those who worked 4 consecutive night shifts. However, salivary melatonin profile and sleepiness trend were not affected by shift type. Conclusion: The main duty of CORs working night shifts at the studied industry included managing safety-critical processes through complex displays; a responsibility that demands good cognitive performance and alertness. It is suggested that an appropriate number of consecutive night shifts in a rotating shift system should be planned with the ultimate aim of improving CROs performance/alertness and enhancing safety.

Shift workers experience a disruption in the circadian sleep-wake rhythm, which brings upon adverse health effects such as fatigue, insomnia and decreased sleep quality. Moreover, shift work has deleterious effects on both work productivity and safety. In this review, we present a brief overview of the current literature on the consequences of shift work, especially focusing on attention-associated cognitive decline and related behavioral changes. We searched two electronic databases, PubMed and RISS, using key search terms related to cognitive domains, deleterious effects, and shift work. Twenty studies were eligible for the final review. The consequences of shift work can be classified into the following three categories extracted from the literature review : 1) work accidents ; 2) commuting accidents such as car accidents that occur on the way to and from work ; and 3) attendance management at work (i.e., absenteeism, tardiness, and unscheduled early departure). These cognitive and behavioral consequences of shift work were also found to be associated with sleep disorders in shift workers. Thus, improvements in the shift work system are necessary in order to enhance workers' health conditions, work productivity, and safety.

This paper presents crack growth analysis approach on the basis of neural networks, a branch of cognitive science to high temperature low cycle fatigue that shows strong nonlinearity in material behavior. As the number of data patterns on crack growth increase, pattern classification occurs well and two point representation scheme with gradient of crack growth curve simulates crack growth rate better than one point representation scheme. Optimal number of learning data exists and excessive number of learning data increases estimated mean error with remarkable learning time J-da/dt relation predicted by neural networks shows that test condition with unlearned data is simulated well within estimated mean error(5%).

Artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly in the ICT field, smart convergence media system and content industry through the fourth industrial revolution, and it is evolving very rapidly through Big Data. In this paper, we propose a face recognition method based on object recognition based on object recognition through artificial intelligence. In this method, Were experimented and studied through the object recognition technique of artificial intelligence. In the conventional 3D image field, general research on object recognition has been carried out variously, and researches have been conducted on the side effects of visual fatigue and dizziness through 3D image. However, in this study, we tried to solve the problem caused by the quantitative difference between object recognition and object recognition for human factor algorithm that measure visual fatigue through cognitive function, morphological analysis and object recognition. Especially, The new method of computer interaction is presented and the results are shown through experiments.
The purposes of this study were to examine and to predict the affecting factors on exercise participation of Rheumatoid arthritis Patients. The subjects were 161 adult out-patients who visited the hospital for rheumatic disease in H-university. Data were composed of self-reported questionnaire. The conceptual model of this study consisted of that personal characters(age, marriage, education, income), situational characters(pain intensity, fatigue, IADL, depression), behavioral characters(formerly exercise behavior, life-style), and cognitive-perceptional characters(perceived health status, perceived benefit, perceived barrier, perceived self-efficacy) affected directly to exercise participation. Logistic regression analysis was applied for testing model of this study. The results were as follows : 1. Personal characters(education), situational characters(pain intensity), behavioral characters(formerly exercise behavior, life-style), and cognitive characters(perceived barrier, perceived self-efficacy) were significant difference between current exercise participants(127subjects) and non-exercise participants(34). 2. Personal characters(income), situational characters(pain intensity), behavioral characters(life-style), and cognitive-perceptional characters(perceived barrier, perceived self-efficacy) were correlated to exercise participation. 3. Formerly exercise behavior, perceived barrier, and perceived self-efficacy were significant predictor of exercise participation. The logistic equation predicted overall 81.94% of this study subjects 161.
