  • This study examined the relationship between psychopathology(depression, anxiety, aggression), maladaptive cognitions(negative cognitive errors, attributional biases), and age of children with ADHD. 40 ADHD children and their mother completed questionnaires assessing depression, anxiety, aggression level and maladaptive cognitions of children. The results showed that maladaptive cognitions of children with ADHD was not significantly associated with their depression, anxiety, aggression level. Age was negatively related to internal stable attributions for negative events that was characteristic in depression, and had significantly effect on internal stable attributions for negative events. As age of ADHD children increased, their internal attribution for negative events reduced. It seems that their depression and anxiety level is associated with current stress event rather than maladaptive cognitions. Suggestions and limitations of this study, and the directions for future study were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand various theories of cognitions of mathematics and to compare the difference between students in mathematics education and professors who teach them in their cognition of mathematics. For this purpose, a survey of 'cognitions of mathematics' was done to the students(future teachers) and professors who taught them in the capital area, and the results was statistically analyzed. It shows that professors have almost all of things in common with students in their cognitions of mathematics except some issues such as 'there are usually more than one way to solve mathematical tasks and problems,' or 'It is indispensible for mathematics to be definitional rigor,' which are statistically significant. Many theoretical and empirical grounds were supported for the differences in their responses. The study has, eventually, given valuable suggestions to lead people's attitudes and cognitions of mathematics to a deeper level.

  • Many survivors of sexual violence disclose their experience to others. When they receive negative social reactions, this can be a traumatic event for the survivor where their trust towards others is violated and can cause posttraumatic cognitions and depression. Likewise, institutional betrayal, or negative reactions from trusted institutions regarding the disclosure of sexual victimization can be a traumatic event for the survivor and is associated with depression as well. However, studies investigating the mechanism underlying the relationship between institutional betrayal and depression is yet limited. Therefore, based on cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), which is known as the most effective approach to date for understanding and treating posttraumatic symptoms, this study examined if posttraumatic cognitions mediate the relationship between institutional betrayal and depression. Questionnaires were administered to 462 women who had experienced institutional betrayal to their sexual victimization. Results showed that institutional betrayal had an effect on depression only through negative cognitions about the self and world. This suggests the importance of identifying and treating trauma-related cognitions in order to prevent or cure depression of those who had experienced institutional betrayal to their sexual victimization. Limitations and implications of this study are also discussed.

  • Purpose: The exercise status in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, associations between exercise behavior and personal factors, and associations between exercise behavior and exercise-specific cognitions and their effects were assessed. Method: Four hundred thirty nine outpatients with rheumatoid arthritis were studied. The exercise status was measured by a single item. The intensity was multiplied by the frequency and duration of each exercise. The product of these intensity values for all exercises was defined as exercise behavior. Based on the Pender's revised health promotion model, exercise benefit, barrier, self-efficacy, enjoyment and social support were chosen as exercise specific cognitions and affect variables. Path analysis was used to identify the predictors of exercise behavior. Results: Compared to the duration before being diagnosed, the number of subjects who exercised regularly increased after being diagnosed. However over half of the subjects refrain from any sort of exercise and the type of exercise is very limited. Among the variables, exercise barrier, self-efficacy, and social support were found to be significant predictors of exercise behavior, and only previous exercise experience was found to be significant predictors of all behavior specific cognitions and affect variables. Conclusion: These findings suggest that studies should explore exercise behaviors and strategies to emphasize the cognitive-motivational messages to promote exercise behaviors.

  • Breaking the fourth wall is a very popular concept right now, and depictions of breaking the barrier between virtuality and reality are often used in game advertising. In VR games, game manufacturers describe the experience after breaking the fourth wall as an experiencer who will be completely immersed in the virtual world, as if they are actually living in the virtual world. At the same time, research in the field of traditional drama also shows that breaking the fourth wall can also bring a sense of alienation to the player, allowing the experiencer to clearly realize that he and the character are in a completely different world, and to conduct aesthetic criticism of related works of art.So why there are two completely different feelings after breaking the fourth wall will be the content of this article. This article will focus on the theoretical analysis of the relationship between two different cognitions and two completely different cognitions after breaking the fourth wall. Finally, it will be analyzed from three directions: game perspective, game art style, and different world views of the game. Finally, it was concluded that when players break the fourth wall in the game, these three factors will cause the experiencer to have two completely different cognitions.

  • In this article, We propose research propositions about correlates of job interest, job difficulty, job effort, and job performance as well as job performance and emotions while working. The purpose of this study is to review existing research on emotions and job performance, particularly emotions at work. The purpose of this article is to review existing research on job performance and emotions, particularly at the job relevant cognitions level. In this study, We propose research propositions about correlates of job performance and emotions while working. The purpose of this article is to develop and propose research propositions about potential correlates of perceived performance at the job relevant level. Correlates include those that should function mainly as antecedents of performance, such as job difficulty, job interest, and job effort in the study are emotions experienced concurrently with job performance. Therefore, We suggest the predictive direction and bivariate relationship of the set of among variables in explaining job performance and emotions.

  • This study was conducted to examine if the revised HPM was appropriate to explain smoking quitting behavior. A convenience sample of 400 college students enrolled in the universities located in Seoul and Kyunggi-Inchon province was selected. According to the study results, smoking-specific cognitions and affect included in the study could significantly explain commitment to a plan to quit smoking which was one of the behavioral outcomes in the revised HPM. The study result showed that among predictors, smoking-related affect, perceived benefit of quitting smoking, and perceived self-efficacy significantly explained commitment to a plan to quit smoking, but perceived barriers and interpersonal influences did not. The model for smoking quitting behavior formulated with smoking-specific cognitions and affect was statistically significant and the model explained 48 percent of variance in smoking quitting behavior. More specifically, it was shown that among smoking-specific cognitions and affect, only smoking-related affect, interpersonal influences, and perceived self-efficacy were the significant predictors to explain smoking quitting behavior. Smoking-related affect was the most important variable to explain smoking quitting behavior, followed by perceived self-efficacy. However, the influence of commitment to a plan to quit smoking on smoking quitting behavior was not statistically significant. Lastly, the model for smoking quitting behavior formulated with individual characteristics and experiences could explain 13 percent of the variance in behavior to quit smoking. Although the model is statistically significant, only the number of quitting attempts had significant and direct influence on behavior to quit smoking, while the remaining variables did not.

  • This study analyzed the level of chemistry teachers' cognition related to two types of acid-base models taught in secondary schools. For the purpose, a questionnaire was developed to identify teachers' cognitions based on previous studies that analyzed the 'Ignorance' of each model. The questionnaire consisted of two items, one related to acid and base reactions and one related to acid and base dissociation, which suggested inconsistencies between the two models. The subjects were 15 chemistry teachers, and as a result, teachers' cognitions were analyzed at four levels. The four levels are: if they don't know the two models, if they only understand one model, if they understand the two models, and perceived the 'Ignorance' of one model, and if they understand the two models and perceived the 'Ignorance' of the two models. The largest proportion of teachers understood the two models and perceived the 'Ignorance' of one model. However, the proportion of understanding the two models and perceiving the 'Ignorance' of the two models was very small. Through this, we argued that efforts to increase the level of chemistry teachers' cognition of the model and 'Ignorance' were necessary.
