  • Plate Heat Exchnager(PHE) has recently become widely adopted for cogeneration systems owing to its small installation space and high thermal efficiency. The gap between plates can be changed depending on its assemble type, i.e. gasket or blazing. The gap is known to affect thermal efficiency and working pressure drop in PHE with complicated geometrical features. Numerical simulation techniques have been developed to deal with PHE with complex configuration of chevron plates. The present study is aiming at identifying the gap effect on pressure drop and thermal efficiency of the PHE. The numerical simulation results show that the gap has relatively large effects on working pressure drop than thermal efficiency in performance of PHE.

  • This paper describes requirements for cogenerating in parallel with utility. Cogenerating is the simultaneous generation of energy in two or more forms, usally electricity and heat. Cogeneration is most energy efficient when generating in paralled will the electric utility, but requires proper control and protection. When onsite generation and utility systems are operated in parallel, there are many factors. such as operation mode. point of connection, grounding, synchronizalion. protective relaying, metering, and the like, that must be considered to provide safe and efficient operation.

  • Small-scale reactors have recently attracted attention as a potential power generation source for the future. The Regional Energy Research Institute for Next Generation is currently developing a small-scale reactor called Regional Energy rX 10 MVA (REX-10). The current paper deals with a power system to be used with small-scale reactors for multi-purpose regional energy systems. This small nuclear system can supply electric and thermal energy like a co-generation system. The electrical model of the REX-10 has been developed as a part of the SCADA system. REX-10's dynamic and electromagnetic performance on the power system is analyzed. Simulations are carried out on a test system based on Ulleung Island's power system to validate REX-10 availability on a power system. RSCAD/RTDS and PSS/E software tools are used for the simulation.

  • 본 논문은 산업체의 열병합발전시스템이 각종 보조설비와 연계되어 운전되고 있을 경우의 최적운전 계획을 수립하였다. 최적운전계획을 수립하기 위하여 열병합발전시스템의 수리적 모델링은 물론 각종 보조설비들의 모델링도 수립하였으며, 사례연구를 통하여 모델링의 효용성을 검토하였다. 본 논문에서는 열병합발전시스템의 방식에서 버터밍사이클을 대상으로 삼았다. 시뮬레이션은 우선 선형계획법을 이용하여 운전계획을 수립한 후에 그 결과를 바탕으로 퍼지선형계획법을 적용하였으며, 퍼지화의 정도에 따라 여러 Case를 구성하여 단기운전계획을 수립하였다. 사례연구를 통해 각종 보조설비들이 버터밍사이클 방식에서 효과적으로 운전될 수 있음을 확인하였으며 퍼지선형계획법의 도입전후에서 얻은 운전계획 결과와의 상호 비교, 검토를 통하여 퍼지선형계획법을 도입시켰을 경우 수립된 운전계획의 효용성을 평가하였다.

에너지 시스템에 대한 전력 및 열 비용산정 (Suggestion of Power and Heat Costing for an Energy System)

  • The calculation of each unit cost of productions is very important for evaluating the economical efficiency and deciding the reasonable sale price. In the present, two methods of exergy costing on multiple energy systems are suggested to reduce the complexities of conventional SPECO method and MOPSA method and to improve the calculation efficiency of exergoeconomics. The suggested methods were applied to a gas-turbine cogeneration and the unit costs of the power and the steam energy were calculated as an example. The main points of our methods are the following three. First, one exergetic cost is applied to one cycle or system. Second, the suggested equations are the internal cost balance equation and the production cost balance equation. Third, necessary states in a system are only inlet and exit states of 1ha components producing energy.

수분사를 통한 마이크로터빈 성능향상 해석 (Analysis of Performance Enhancement of a Microturbine by Water Injection)

  • Recently, microturbines have received attention as a small-scale distributed power generator. Since the exhaust gas carries all of the heat release, generating hot water is usual method of heat recovery from microturbine CHP (combined heat and power) systems. The power of microturbines decreases as ambient temperature increases. This study predicted micoturbine power boost by injecting hot water generated by heat recovery. Influence of injecting water at two different locations was examined. Water injection improves power, but efficiency depends much on the injection location. Injecting water at the compressor discharge shows a much higher efficiency than the combustor injection. However, the combustor injection may have as much available cogeneration heat as the dry operation, while the available heat in the compressor discharge injection is much smaller than the dry operation.

  • In this study, the impact of the efficiency change of various appliances using natural gas has been investigated. Heating devices, cooking devices, cooling units, cogeneration systems and vehicles are of major concern for the investigation. In addition, foreign examples of demand side management for the units using natural gas have been surveyed. The expectations for the efficiency enhancement of natural gas devices were analyzed.

  • 미세먼지 배출 허용 기준이 강화됨에 따라 화력발전소, 제철소, 산업용 열병합 발전소 등 배가스 배출 시설의 미세먼지 제거를 위해 고효율 집진장치 수요가 급증하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 전기집진기에 정전분무 기술을 도입하여 단점을 보완하고 성능을 향상시키는 연구를 진행 중이다. 정전분무는 매우 미세한 액적을 생성하는 목적으로 주로 사용되어왔지만, 집진을 목적으로 할 때는 그 유량이 10mL/min으로 65 ~ 200배에 달하는 고유량 조건이 필요하다. 고유량의 정전분무는 저유량과는 완전하게 다른 분무 형상이 나타나며 코로나 방전 사진 촬영, 그림자 촬영법 등 다양한 촬영을 통하여 이를 가시화하였다.

하수처리시스템 온실가스 저감활동에 대한 CDM 사업 적용에 관한 연구 (An Application of CDM Project for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Activities in the Wastewater Treatment Systems)

  • In general, wastewater treatment systems consume high-energy consumption depending on operation characteristics of the facilities. Therefore, greenhouse gas(GHG) reduction activities that are application of digestion gas, induction of renewable energy etc. are conducted to reduce energy consumption and to increase energy independence ratio. In this study, GHG reduction in wastewater treatment system identified, searched application of Clean Development mechanism(CDM) approved methodology. If the methodologies apply to GHG reduction activities such as application of digestion gas, heat pump system using the wastewater as heat source, hydropower using the methodology determined CDM applicability, otherwise through several assumptions calculated expectable GHG reduction emissions and determined CDM applicability. As a result, the order of calculated GHG reduction emission showed that collected and energy generation of digestion gas is 66,775 $tCO_2$/yr, gas engine cogeneration system is 8,182 $tCO_2$/yr, heat pump system using the wastewater as a heat source is 72,715 $tCO_2$/yr, and hydropower is 561 $tCO_2$/yr. Consequently, the order of calculated Certified Emission Reductions(CERs) benefit showed that heat pump system using the wastewater, as a heat source is 1,381 million won/yr was estimated as the highest, followed by a collected and energy generation of digestion gas is 1,268 million won/yr.

  • Climate changes have become the major issue for the sustainable society and the various regulation has been established for promoting low carbon and green growth in Korea. The paper industry as a large comsumer of energy is forced to cope with these regulation. In this study, the various examples were investigated for providing the basic schemes to develop environmental management strategies of Korean paper industry. The various cases to follow carbon economic were introduced and were categorized into five ways, for example, the carbon capture projects such as reforestation, the increasing the process efficiency, the resource recovery form process waste, the cogeneration systems, the application of non-woody biomass.
