  • We present the magnetisation reversal dynamics of epitaxial Fe thin films grown on GaAs(001) and InAs(001) studied as a function of field sweep rate in the range 0.01-160 kOe/s using magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE). For 55 and 250 ${\AA}$ Fe/GaAs(001), we find that the hysteresis loop area A follows the scaling relation A ∝ H$\^$${\alpha}$/ with ${\alpha}$=0.03∼0.05 at low sweep rates and 0.33-0.40 at high sweep rates. For the 150 ${\AA}$ Fe/InAs(001) film, ${\alpha}$ is found to be ∼0.02 at low sweep rates and ∼0.17 at high sweep rates. The differing values of ${\alpha}$ are attributed to a change of the magnetisation reversal process with increasing sweep rate. Domain wall motion dominates the magnetisation reversal at low sweep rates, but becomes less significant with increasing sweep rate. At high sweep rates, the variation of the dynamic coercivity H$\sub$c/ is attributed to domain nucleation dominating the reversal process. The results of magnetic relaxation studies for easy-axis reversal are consistent with the sweeping of one or more walls through the entire probed region (∼100 $\mu\textrm{m}$). Domain images obtained by scanning Kerr microscopy during the easy cubic axis reversal process reveal large area domains separated by zigzag walls.

  • Barium ferrite powders were synthesized by the coprecipitation method using iron-pickling waste acid (IPWA) and BaCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O as raw materials. Fe$\^$2+/ ions in the IPWA, which contains both Fe$\^$2+/ and Fe$\^$3+/ ions, were oxidized into Fe$\^$3+/ ions using H$_2$O$_2$. Proper amount of BaCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O was dissolved into the oxidized IPWA. Using NaOH, Ba$\^$2+/ and Fe$\^$3+/ ions were coprecipitated as Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$. The coprecipitated Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$were washed and dried. Barium ferrite powders were obtained by calcining the dried Ba(OH)$_2$and Fe(OH)$_3$mixture from 400$\^{C}$ to 1000$\^{C}$ with a 100$\^{C}$ interval. Barium ferrite powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, SEM, and VSM. It was found that barium ferrite powders could be synthesized at around 630$\^{C}$. The synthesized barium ferrite powders showed hexagonal plate shapes with a fairly uniform size. The barium ferrite powder calcined at 900$\^{C}$ showed good magnetic properties, saturation magnetization of 67emu/g and maximum coercivity of 5000 Oe.

  • Co-Ni-Fe-N thin films were fabricated by a $N_2$ reactive rf magnetron sputtering method. The nitrogen partial pressure ($P_{N2}$) was varied in the range 0~10% . As$P_{N2}$ increases in this range, the saturation magnetization $B_s$ linearly decreases from 19.8 kG to 14 kG and the electrical resistivity ($\rho$) increases from 27 to 155 $\mu\Omegacm$. The coercivity $H_c$ exhibits the minimum value at 4% $P_{N2}$. The magnetic anisotropy fields ($H_k$) are in the range of 20$\sim$50 Oe. High frequency characteristics of $(Co_{22.2}Ni_{27.6}Fe_{50.2})_{100-x}N_x$ films are excellent in the range of 3$\sim$5% of $P_{N2}$. In particular, the effective permeability of the film fabricated at 4% $P_{N2}$ is 800, which is maintained up to 600 MHz. This film also shows Bs of 17.5 kG, $H_c$/ of 1.4 Oe, resistivity of 98$\mu\Omegacm$ and $H_k$ of about 25 Oe. Also, the corrosion resistance of $(Co_{22.2}Ni_{27.6}Fe_{50.2})_{100-x}N_x$ films was imp roved with increasing N concentration.

  • $Fe_3O_4$(magnetite) having half metallic property attracts great attention material with high curie temperature in spintronics. $Fe_3O_4$ thin films and nanowires were grown onto c-$Al_2O_3$(0001) at various substrate temperatures. $Fe_3O_4$ films deposited from 300 to $600^{\circ}C$ are influenced by thermal stress induced from mismatch of thermal expansion coefficient between $Fe_3O_4$ and $Al_2O_3$ (0001) substrate. The $Fe_3O_4$ nanowires grown at $640^{\circ}C$ showed a diameter of 130 nm and a length of $2-10{\mu}m$. The nanowire arrays fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique have high coercivity($H_c$) of 608 Oe and Squareness($M_r/M_s$) of 0.68 in perpendicular direction.

  • Magnetic properties and thermal stability by exchange biased perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in (Pd/Co)$_{N}$FeMn multilayer deposited by do magnetron sputtering system are investigated. We measured the perpendicular magnetization curves of (Pd(0.8nm)/Co(0.8nm)$_{5}$FeMn multilayer as function of FeMn thickness and annealing temperature. As FeMn thickness increases from 0 to 21nm, the perpendicular exchange bias(Hex) obtained 127 Oe at FeMn thickness 15nm. As the annealing temperature increases to 24$0^{\circ}C$, the E$_{ex}$ increased from 115 Oe to 190 Oe and disappeared exchange biased perpendicular magnetic anisotropy effect at 33$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Ferromagnets(FM)-Al-$O_{x}$ -Ferromagnets (FM) tunneling junctions were evaluated by changing the fabricating conditions of an Al-X$/_{x}$ layer. The junction composed of a thicker Al-$O_{x}$ shows the low resistance and the stable MR ratio about 16% in a wide range of oxidation time. For the junctions with the thinner Al-$O_{x}$ , they showed a fast increase of the barrier width as an increase of an oxidation time and exhibited a strong bias dependence. As oxidation time increased, the coercivity ($H_{c}$ ) of bottom Co layer increased gradually due to the local oxidation of Co bottom layer at a interface. However, the small formation of Co oxide did not largely influence on the deterioration of MR ratio.

  • We studied the effect of Dy content on the magnetic properties of cobalt ferrite single crystal. The $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals were grown by the flux method by using $Na_2B_4O_{7.}10H_2O$ (Borax) as a solvent (flux). The black and shiny single crystals were obtained as a product. The X-ray diffraction test at room temperature confirmed the spinel cubic symmetry with lattice constant a = $8.42{\AA}$ of the single crystals. The presences of constitute elements (Co, Fe and Dy) was endorsedby EDAX analysis. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of $CoFe_{1.9}Dy_{0.1}O_4$ single crystals was measured and is found to be 72emu/g or equivalently $3.2{\mu}B$/f.u. at 300 K. The observed Ms and coercivity (Hc) is found to be lower than that of pure $CoFe_2O_4$.

  • The single stroke hot deformation is a simple method fur the fabrication of anisotropic NdFeB magnets. In order to obtain the optimum conditions, Taguchi method of experimental design was applied in this work. The optimum conditions obtained on the basis of coercivity in Taguchi analysis was a little different from those of remanence and maximum energy Product. The contribution of each factor to magnetic Properties was calculated in detail.
