The rigid body characteristics (value of mass, Position of center of mass, moments and products of inertia) of mechanical systems can be identified from FRF data or vibration spectra of rigid body motion. Therefore the accuracy of rigid body characteristics is connected directly with the accuracy of measured data for rigid body motions. In this paper, a method of improving accuracy of measurement of rigid body motion is presented. Applying rigid body theory, ail translational and rotational displacements at a tentative point on the rigid body are calculated using the measured translational displacements for several points and transfer matrix. Then the estimated displacements for the identical points are calculated using the 6 displacements of the tentative Point and transfer matrix. By using correlation coefficient between measured and estimated displacements, we can detect the existence of errors that are contained in a certain measured displacement. Consequently, the improved rigid body motion with respect to a tentative point can be obtained by eliminating the contaminated data.
This paper deals with rocking response behavior of rigid block structure subjected to horizontal excitation. A strict consideration of impact and sliding between the block and base is essential to investigate the rocking vibration characteristics because the rocking behavior were greatly influenced by the impact and sliding motion. Therefore, not only restitution coefficient between the block and base but also the energy dissipation rate which is associated with sliding motion, and the static and kinetic friction coefficient between those should be included in the modeling of rocking system. The analytic program was developed to be able to simulate the experimental responses of the block subjected to horizontal sinusoidal excitations. By using this program, rocking responses were numerically calculated by the nonlinear equations for rocking system. From the response simulation and rocking vibration experiment, the following results were obtained. The rocking responses are affected by the impact motion due to energy dissipation and friction and provide very complex behavior. The toppling condition of the block is also influenced by the impact motion and sliding motion.
For simulation of a wing unfolding motion for the various aerodynamic conditions, equation governing unfolding motion and moments applying to the unfolding wing were modelled. Aerodynamic roll moment consists of the static roll moment and the damping moment, which were obtained through wind tunnel tests and numerical analyses respectively. Panel method was used to compute the roll damping coefficient with twisted wing, whose deflection angle was equivalent to angle of attack due to the deployment motion. Roll damping coefficient is a function of angle of attack, sideslip angle, and deployment angle but not of angular velocity of deployment. Simulation with aerodynamic damping model gave more similar deployment time compared to wing deployment test results.

In this study, respiratory motion is modeled by a 2-Dimensional linear expanding-shrinking movement. According to the introduced model, respiratory motion imposes phase error, non-uniform sampling and amplitude modulation distortions on the acquired MRI data. When the motion parameters are known or can be estimated, a reconstruction algorithm based on superposition method was used to removed the MRI artifact. For the purpose of estimating unknown motion parameters, we applied the spectrum shift method to find the respiratory fluctuation function, the x directional expansion coefficient and its center, and also we used the minimum energy method to find the y directional expansion coefficient and its center. The effectiveness of this presented method is shown by Computer simulations.

A computer program was developed to simulate effect of the initial track tension on the tractive performance of tracked vehicles. The performance was evaluated in terms of drawbar pull, motion resistance, tractive coefficient and tractive efficiency. Results of the simulation showed that increase in track tension decreases the sinkage and mean maximum pressure in clay, making the ground pressure distribution more uniform. This tendency became more evident when the number of roadwheels increased. However, such change in MMPs was negligible in firm soils. Motion resistance was also decreased with increase in track tension and the number of roadwheels. Under weak soil conditions, tractive coefficient and efficiency increased generally as the track tension increased for a slip range of 10∼30%. For slippage less than 3∼4%, however, the tractive coefficient decreased with increase in track tension. In general, it was known that increasing track tension improves tractive performance in weak soil conditions. However, high track tension can reduce efficiency due to the increment of internal motion resistance caused by increased track tension.
The radiation of water waves by a heaving truncated circular cylinder with damping plate is solved in the frame of the three-dimensional linear potential theory. The damping plate has a distinct advantage in reducing the motion response of a floating circular cylinder by increasing the added mass and the damping coefficient. Using the matched eigenfunction expansion method, the characteristics of hydrodynamic added mass and the damping coefficient are investigated with various system parameters, such as the radius and submergence depth of the damping plate. It is found that both added mass and the damping coefficient are significantly increased due to the arranged features of the larger damping plate with shallow submergence, which are positive factors as a motion reduction device of the floating offshore platform. Also the numerical results for an oscillating submerged disk show that the added mass is negative and that the damping coefficient has a peak value at resonant frequency when submergence depth is sufficiently small.
The performance of a vertical type centrifugal distributor of granular materials was studied by means of mathematical models and experimental investigations. To develop the mathematical description of particle motion, some assumptions were made. The distribution process consisted of three stages: the entrance of a particle to the blade, the motion of the particle on the blade, and the motion of the particle in the air. The physical properties of fertilizer, which affected the particle motion, were investigated: bluk density, coefficient of friction, coefficient of restitution, and particle size distribution. The particle motion were simulated by using a computer. A prototype distributor was designed and constructed for experimental tests. The following conclusions were drawn from the computer simulation and experiment results. 1. The fertilizer may slide or roll at the point of contact when they impact on the blade and move along the blade. 2. The interaction among fertilizers may prevent them from bouncing. 3. When fertilizers roll on the blade, rolling resistance is one of the factors affecting the particle's motion. 4. The trajectory angle and position of fertilizers from a disc depend on the blade position and particle shape, but the rotating speed of the disc affected them only slightly.

This study performed a numerical analysis of a 3D unsteady viscous flow in order to investigate ship motion responses running through regular waves of the platform supply vessel. The feasibility of numerical analysis was tested under the three regular wave conditions of the KRISO container ship (KCS) suggested at the 2010 Gothenburg CFD Workshop. The resulting resistance coefficient, heave motion, and pitch angle were compared with the model test of the harmonic analysis. Also, the ship motion response characteristics of the platform supply vessel were performed using the proven method of the KRISO container ship (KCS). The ship motions including the resistance coefficient, heave motion, and pitch angle according to the time series were investigated via harmonic analysis under regular waves condition of ${\lambda}/LPP=1.87$ and $H_S=0.078m$.
