For speech coding, a vocal tract is modeled using Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) coefficients. The LPC coefficients are typically transformed to Line Spectral Frequency (LSF) parameters which are advantageous for linear interpolation and quantization. If multidimensional LSF data are quantized directly using Vector-Quantization (VQ), high rate-distortion performance can be obtained by fully utilizing intra-frame correlation. In practice, since this direct VQ system cannot be used due to high computational complexity and memory requirement, Split VQ (SVQ) is used where a multidimensional vector is split into multilple sub-vectors for quantization. The LSF parameters also have high inter-frame correlation, and thus Predictive SVQ (PSVQ) is utilized. PSVQ provides better rate-distortion performance than SVQ. In this paper, to implement the optimal predictors in PSVQ for voice storage devices, we propose Multi-Frame AR-model based SVQ (MF-AR-SVQ) that considers the inter-frame correlations with multiple previous frames. Compared with conventional PSVQ, the proposed MF-AR-SVQ provides 1 bit gain in terms of spectral distortion without significant increase in complexity and memory requirement.

With rapidly growing mobile wireless services, the existing copper-based mobile backhaul technologies suffer from reaching the capacity limits. PON technologies is drawing attention as a key solution to replace the existing mobile backhaul technologies due to not only providing innovative network capacity but also cost-effective maintenance caused by the bandwidth gain from optical fibers. With a PON-based mobile backhaul, broadband wireless multimedia services such as a video conference and IPTV can be seamlessly provided. In this paper, we first introduce overview of the PON-based mobile backhaul technology. For a example of practical integration, three types of EPON-WiMAX integrated architectures are proposed and comparatively analyzed in term of costs and network performance. Then, applicable plan and anticipated effects are presented when applying network coding on the PON-based mobile backhaul to improve the performance of delivering multicast traffic.

In this paper, we propose and analyze a concatenated coding scheme for DS/CDMA systems in asynchronous channels. In the concatenated coding, bandwidth efficient $2^{2L-2}$-state ${\frac{L}{L+1}}$-rate 2-MTCM with biorthogonal signal constellation is used for the inner code, and $(2^{L-1},\;{\lceil}\frac{2^{L-1}}{L/2}{\rceil})$ RS code is use for the outer code. It is shown that we can get considerable performance gain over the uncoded system without sacrificing the data transmission rate. The proposed system can be used as a coding scheme for reliable and high speed integrated information services of mobile communication systems.
This paper proposes an adaptive video signal transmission scheme in order to ensure the QoS (Quality of Service) of user requirements. SVC (Scalable Video Coding) is an effective transmission scheme, because that can transmit video signal according to the video layer's weight. However, in previous works, those adaptive transmission systems which are considered about the various channel environments and user requirements have not been insufficiently studied. So, we propose the SVC signal transmission using inter-layer differential OVSF code allocation scheme in MC-CDMA. The proposed scheme is able to obtain each layer signal's protection order and control the sub-block of MC-CDMA by feedback information from receiver. Therefore, our proposed scheme is possible to provide the video quality for each users according to variable channel environments. The simulation results demonstrate the enhancement of proposed system in terms of BER performance.

The use of space-division multiple access(SDMA) in the downlink of multiuser multi-input/multi-output(MIMO) wireless transmission systems can provide substantial gains in system throughput. When the channel state information(CSI) is available at the transmitter, a considerable performance improvement can be attained by adapting the transmission rates to the reported CSI. In addition, to combat frequency selective fadings in wideband wireless channels, bit-interleaved coded OFDM(BIC-OFDM) modulation schemes are employed to provide reliable packet delivery by utilizing frequency diversity through channel coding. In this paper, we propose an adaptive modulation and coding(AMC) scheme combined with an opportunistic scheduling technique for the MIMO BIC-OFDM with bandwidth-limited feedback channels. The proposed scheme enhances the link performance by exploiting both the frequency diversity and the multiuser diversity. To reduce the feedback information, the proposed AMC scheme employs rate adaptation methods based on an OFDM symbol rather than on the whole subchannels. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme exhibits a substantial performance gain with a reasonable complexity over single antenna systems.

In this paper, we proposed advanced T-DMB system which is based on Eureka-147 using UEP coding methods and hiererchical modulation for providing additional services while maintaining BER performance. We simulated the proposed advanced T-DMB system using unequal l6QAM modulation scheme combined with various bit split methods and coding methods such as double binary turbo code of DVB-RCS standard and LDPC code of DVB-S2 standard. In the simulation results, double binary turbo code and LDPC code of proposed advanced T-DMB system have coding gain of 2dB and 3.5dB compared to conventional T-DMB system respectively.

In this paper, we propose an efficient cooperative diversity scheme for mobile satellite multimedia broadcasting services. The proposed scheme is a transmit diversity technique to adapt time varying channel conditions, and we do not need any channel quality information from the return link. In the proposed scheme, we utilize space-time block coding (STBC) and rate compatible turbo codes in order to realize the transmit diversity for the mobile satellite system with several repeaters. The satellite and several repeaters operate in unison to send the encoded signals, so that the receiver may realize diversity gain. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can provide highly improved performance.

Covertness and performance are very important design goals in the underwater communications. To satisfy both of them, we proposed efficient underwater communication model which combined multiband and direct sequence spread spectrum method in order to improve performance and covertness simultaneously. Turbo coding method with 1/3 coding rates is used for channel coding algorithm, and turbo equalization method which iterately exchange probabilistic information between equalizer and decoder is used for receiver side. After optimal threshold value was set in Rake processing, this paper analyzed the performance by varying the number of chips were 8, 16, 32 and the number of bands were from 1 to 4. Through the simulation results, we confirmed that the performance improvement was obtained by increasing the number of bands and chips. 2~3 dB of performance gain was obtained when the number of chips were increased in same number of bands.

In this paper, we propose a cooperative vehicle communication scheme for high transmission efficiency and coverage extension under multipath fading environment of moving vehicle networks. The proposed scheme uses a Network coding scheme for improvement of receiving performance by using virtual Multiple-Input Multiple-Output(MIMO) transmit diversity. Simulation results have shown that the proposed scheme also provides alleviated Inter Symbol Interference(ISI) and Inter Channel Interference(ICI) as well as Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR) improvement and improve 3dB compared to the conventional scheme, since it can utilize the good properties of spatial diversity and coding gain by using virtual MIMO configuration. In this paper, we propose simulations of Ultra-Wideband(UWB) communication system to show validity by using the MATLAB.
In this study, a new method of audio high-band coding based on autoencoder with side information is proposed. The proposed method operates in the MDCT domain, and improves the performance by using additional side information consisting of the previous and current low bands, which is different from the conventional autoencoder that only inputs information to be encoded. Moreover, the side information in a time-frequency domain enables the high-band coder to utilize temporal characteristics of the signal. In the proposed method, the encoder transmits a 4-dimensional latent vector computed by the autoencoder and a gain variable using 12 bits for each frame. The decoder reconstructs the high band by applying the decoded low bands in the previous and current frames and the transmitted information to the autoencoder. Subjective evaluation confirms that the proposed method provides equivalent performance to the SBR at approximately half the bit rate of the SBR.
