Relay-assisted wireless communication systems have been studied widely to cope with shadow areas and extend the cell coverage. This paper proposes a space-frequency (SF) block coded single carrier-frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) transmission system in a relaying multi-path shadow area and present the performance comparison of SC-FDMA systems based on the signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) between a relay and a destination station. The performance of relaying SC-FDMA systems can be improved by applying SF block code to the recovered signals of relays before re-transmitting them. The simulation result showed that the SNR performance of the proposed SF block coded relaying SC-FDMA system was approximately 5 dB better than the SNR performance of the single-path relaying SC-FDMA system at a symbol error rate (SER) of $10^{-2}$.
Digital watermarking is to embed imperceptible mark into image, video, audio, and text data to prevent the illegal copy of multimedia data. arbitrary modification, and also illegal sales of the copies without agreement of copyright ownership. In this paper, we study for the embedding and extraction of watermark key using wavelet in the luminance signal in order to implement the system to protect the copyright for image MPEG. First, the original image is analyzed into frequency domain by discrete wavelet transform. The RSA(Rivest, Shamir, Aldeman) public key of the coded target is RUN parameter of VLD(variable length coding). Because the high relationship among the adjacent RUN parameters effect the whole image, it prevents non-authorizer not to possess private key from behaving illegally. The Results show that the proposed method provides better moving picture and the distortion more key of insert than direct coded method on low-frequency domain based DCT.

In this paper, we propose an efficient cooperative diversity technique, which partition the codewords of each mobile and transmit portions of each codeword through independent fading channels using duo-binary turbo codes. A coded diversity technique can achieve high cooperative diversity gain by decoding and transmitting of the re-encoded signal, while this can also cause high performance degradation due to failure of the decoding. In this paper, we introduce various coded diversity technique using duo-binary turbo codes which are defined as channel coding schemes in the IEEE WiMax specification, and also demonstrate performance simulation results with the analysis. We also propose a cooperative diversity technique using rate-compatible duo-binary turbo codes, where user terminals with different parity symbols cooperate each other. Simulation results investigated in this paper reveal that the proposed scheme show high diversity gain at a reasonal SNR range.

The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluated the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model. interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges form -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. Form the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control)shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.
This paper deals with the effect of the internal sampling frequency and core band down sampling ratio on the overall performance of the MPEG USAC. Here, the internal sampling frequency is the sampling frequency of a signal actually coded. The core band down sampling ratio is the ratio of the width of the core band over that of the coded band. The performance was measured on 6 different test sound sources by the MUSHRA test with 10 subjects. The experiments showed that 1/3 or 1/4 core band down sampling ratio could yield the better performance than the conventional 1/2 ratio, especially at low rates.

In this paper, we propose the TCM(Trellis coded modulation) decoding scheme that reduces the number of operations in branch metric with STBC(space time block codes) channel information and present the implementation results. The proposed TCM decoding scheme needs only 1 signal point in each TCM subset. Using bias point scheme, It detects the minimum distance symbol. The proposed TCM decoding scheme can reduce the branch metric calculations. In case of 16QAM 8 subset, the reduction ratio is about 50% and for 64QAM 8 subset, about 80% reduction can be obtained. The results of logic synthesis for the TCM and STBC decoder with the proposed scheme are 57.6K gate count.
We propose the performance enhancing method optimization of an asynchronous 2.5 Gbps/1.25 Gbps optical subscriber network with inverse RZ (Return to Zero) coded downstream and NRZ (Non Return to Zero) upstream re-modulation by adjusting threshold level control of a receiver. We theoretically analyze the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance by modeling the occurrence of BER by simulation with MATLAB according to the types of downstream data. The results have shown that the normalized threshold level in an optical receiver could be saturated at 1/3 as the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) increases. The needed SNR for obtaining the BER $10^{-9}$ can be reduced by $\sim$5 dB by optimizing the normalized threshold level at 1/3 instead of by using the conventional receiver with threshold level of 0.5. The proposed system can be a useful technology for asynchronous optical access networks with asymmetric upstream and downstream data rates, because the improved minimum receiving power could replace a light source with a source with lower power and lower cost in an OLT (Optical Line Termination).
In this paper, a space-frequency coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (SFC-OFDM) scheme with dual Viterbi decoder is proposed and analyzed. Here, two independent half-rate OFDM symbols are generated after convolutional coding of the binary source code. A dual Viterbi decoder is exploited to decode the demodulated sequences independently in the receiver, and their path metrics are compared. Accordingly, the recovered binary data in the proposed scheme are composed of the combination of the sequences having larger path metrics while those in a conventional system are simply the output of single Viterbi decoder. As a result, the proposed SFC-OFDM scheme has a better performance than the conventional one for all signal-to-noise power ratio.

This study presents an ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing with absolute position. The flight time of ultrasonic waves is determined by a period detecting technique which is able to extend the sensing range compared with traditional methods. For location awareness, ultrasonic waves are sent successively from each ultrasonic transmitter and synchronized by radio frequency (RF) signal, where the transmitting part is fixed and the receiving part is movable. To expand the recognizing range, cell matching technique and coded ultrasonic technique are introduced. The experimentation for various distances is accomplished to verify the used period detecting technique of U-SAT system. The positioning accuracy by using cell matching is also verified by finding the locations of settled points and the usability of coded ultrasonic technique is verified. As a result, the possibility of ultrasonic location awareness system for the ubiquitous computing can be discussed as a pseudo-satellite system with low cost, a high update rate, and relatively high precision, in the places where CPS is not available.
The results of performance analysis by adopting the channel scenarios characterized as Weibull fading for an multicarrierdirect sequence-coded division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) system are proposed in this investigation. On the other hand, an approximate simple expression with the criterion of bit error rate (BER) versus signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) method is derived for an MC-DS-CDMA system combining with maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity based on the moment generating function (MGF) formula of Weibull statistics, and it associates with an alternative expression of Gaussian Q-function. Besides, the other point of view on the BER performance evaluation of an MC-DS-CDMA system is not only the assumption of both single-user and multi-user cases applied, but the phenomena of partial band interference (PBI) is also included. Moreover, in order to validate the accuracy in the derived formulas, some of the system parameters, such as Weibull fading parameter (${\beta}$), user number (K), spreading chip number (N), branch number (L), and the PBI (JSR) values, etc., are compared with each other in the numerical results. To the best of author's knowledge, it is a brand new idea which proposes the evaluation of the system performance for an MC-DS-CDMA system over the point of view with Weibull fading channel.
