  • This paper proposes a novel code tracking scheme to track the fine code synchronization for BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals. The correlation function of BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals has been several peaks. In this paper, we observe that the correlation function in the advanced offset region remains almost unchanged, due to the multipath signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on this observation, we propose a novel code tracking scheme which is called the advanced region correlation (ARC) method for BOC(n,n) modulated spreading signals. And, we compare with the code tracking accuracy between the conventional and proposed methods in the static multipath and land mobile satellite system channels through the Monte-Carlo simulation. Then, base on the proposed scheme, we propose the generalized-ARC (ARC) scheme for BOC(pn, n) modulated spreading signals.

  • In this paper, a novel scheme with which to mitigate a repeat-back jamming effect is proposed for the GPS L1 coarse/acquisition signal. The proposed scheme estimates the code tracking bias caused by repeat-back jamming signals using a Combined Pseudo-random noise signal. It then mitigates the repeat-back jamming effect by subtracting the estimated code timing on a normal correlation channel from the estimated value. Through a Monte-Carlo simulation, the proposed scheme can diminish the running average of code tracking bias to less than 10% of the bias using the conventional scheme.

  • This paper proposes a novel code-tracking scheme to track the fine code synchronization for BOC (pn,n)-modulated global navigation satellite system signals in a repeat-back jamming environment. The correlation function of BOC (pn,n)-modulated signals has several peaks. The correlation function in the advanced offset region remains almost unchanged due to the repeat-back signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal in the same multipath signal receiving case. Additionally, the combined pseudo-random noise signal can be treated as repeat-back jamming signals, like multipath signals. In this paper, we propose a novel code-tracking scheme utilizing the advantages of using a combined pseudo-random noise signal in the advanced offset region and verify its performance through simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel unambiguous code tracking scheme for cosine phased binary offset carrier (BOC) signals. We first obtain the sub-correlation functions composing the BOC autocorrelation function, and then, re-combine the sub-correlation functions generating a correlation function with no side-peak. Finally, by using the correlation function with no side-peak in the delay lock loop, the proposed scheme performs unambiguous signal tracking. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides a performance improvement over the conventional unambiguous scheme in terms of the tracking error standard deviation (TESD).

  • In this paper, the performance of stepped serial search scheme and matched filter scheme for code acqusition in FH / CDMA are evaluated under land mobile radio communication channel environments. And delay lock loop scheme is used as code tracking system. As the results for code acquisition system, it is shown that the performance of stepped searial scheme is superior to matched filter scheme, because system complexity is reduced and system performance is improved by increasing the hopping frequency not to substitute for special hardware. Also, it is shown that its performance is improved under Rayleigh/ Rician fading environments. As the results for code tracking system, it is found that mean hold time is increased due to the increase of the number of lock state and hopping frequency, M.

  • In this paper, we propose and develop a new algorithm for the principle subspace tracking by orthonormalizing the eigenvectors using an approximation of Gram-Schmidt procedure. We carry out a novel mathematical derivation to show that when this approximated version of Gram-Schmidt procedure is added to a modified form of projection approximation subspace tracking deflation (PASTd) algorithm, the eigenvectors can be orthonormalized within a linear computational complexity. While the PASTd algorithm tries to extracts orthonormalized eigenvectors, the new scheme orthonormalizes the eigenvectors after their extraction, yielding much more tacking efficiency. We apply the new tracking scheme for blind adaptive multiuser detection for non-stationary cellular CDMA environment and use extensive simulation results to demonstrate the performance improvement of the proposed scheme.

  • The global navigation satellite system (GNSS), which is the core technique for the location based service, adopts the direct sequence/spread spectrum (DS/SS) as its modulation method. The success of a DS/SS system depends on the synchronization between the received and locally generated pseudo noise (PN) signals. As a step in the synchronization process, the tacking scheme performs fine adjustment to bring the phase difference between the two PN signals to zero. The most widely used tracking scheme is the delay locked loop with early minus late discriminator (EL-DLL). In the ideal case, the EL-DLL is the best estimator among various DLL. However, in the band-limited multipath environment, the EL-DLL has tracking bias. In this paper, the timing offset range of correlation function is divided into advanced offset range (AOR) and delayed offset range (DOR) centering around the correct synchronization time point. The tracking bias results from the following two reasons: symmetry distortion between correlation values in AOR and DOR, and mismatch between the time point corresponding to the maximum correlation value and the synchronization time point. The former and latter are named as the type I and type II tracking bias, respectively. In this paper, when the receiver has finite bandwidth in the presence of multipath signals, it is shown that the type II tracking bias becomes a more dominant error factor than the type I tracking bias, and the correlation values in AOR are not almost changed. Exploiting these characteristics, we propose a novel tracking bias mitigation scheme and demonstrate that the tracking accuracy of the proposed scheme is higher than that of the conventional scheme, both in the presence and absence of noise.

  • In this paper, a tracking bias compensation method is proposed for future global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs). It is observed that the correlation function of a GNSS signal has many peaks and remains almost unchanged in the advanced offset region as a result of the multipath signals arriving at the receiver later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on these observations, we use the slopes in the advanced offset region to compensate for the code tracking bias, and obtain the maximum code tracking bias, which is essential to implement the proposed scheme, in static multipath environments. Finally, it is demonstrated that the proposed compensation method is very effective for the GNSS signal tracking in terms of the code tracking biases and their running averages.

  • RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology, automatic identification and data capture technologies in ubiquitous computing is an essential skill. Low-cost Radio Frequency Identification tags using memory and no physical contact due to the ease of use and maintenance of excellence are going to use expanded. However, it is possible to the illegal acquisition of the information between RFID tags and readers because RFID uses the RF signal, and the obtained information can be used for the purpose of location tracking and invasion of privacy. In this paper, we proposed the security scheme to protect against the illegal user location tracking and invasion of privacy. The security scheme proposed in this paper, using Gray Code and reduced the capacity of the calculation of the actual tags, However, it is impossible for the malicious attacker to track information because tag information transmitted from the reader is not fixed. Therefore, even if the tags information is obtained by a malicious way, our scheme provides more simple and safe user privacy than any other protection methods to protect user privacy, because not actual information but encrypted information is becoming exposed.

  • The United States will proceed with the effort to modernize the GPS system, and one of its main content is to provide L5 signal. L5 will be transmitted in a radio band reserved exclusively for aviation safety services. And, L5, in combination with L1, will improve the position accuracy via ionospheric correction and robustness via signal redundancy. However, The acquisition processing time of L5 takes longer than that of L1 as the code length of L5 is 10 times longer than that of L1. To reduce this acquisition processing time, a higher number of correlators in the aquisition module should be used. However, there is a problem that this causes increase in the complexity of the correlator configuration and the computation power. So, in this paper, we propose L5 signal tracking scheme using tracking results in the GPS L1/L5 receiver. The proposed scheme could reduce the hardware complexity as the GPS L5 signal acquisition module is not needed, and provide fast and stable tracking of L5 signal by aiding L1 tracking results such as PRN, the code phase synchronization, and the Doppler frequency. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through simulation results.
