Recognition of the Passport by Using Fuzzy Binarization and Enhanced Fuzzy Neural Networks

  • The judgment of forged passports plays an important role in the immigration control system, for which the automatic and accurate processing is required because of the rapid increase of travelers. So, as the preprocessing phase for the judgment of forged passports, this paper proposed the novel method for the recognition of passport based on the fuzzy binarization and the fuzzy RBF neural network newly proposed. first, for the extraction of individual codes being recognized, the paper extracts code sequence blocks including individual codes by applying the Sobel masking, the horizontal smearing and the contour tracking algorithm in turn to the passport image, binarizes the extracted blocks by using the fuzzy binarization based on the membership function of trapezoid type, and, as the last step, recovers and extracts individual codes from the binarized areas by applying the CDM masking and the vertical smearing. Next, the paper proposed the enhanced fuzzy RBF neural network that adapts the enhanced fuzzy ART network to the middle layer and applied to the recognition of individual codes. The results of the experiment for performance evaluation on the real passport images showed that the proposed method in the paper has the improved performance in the recognition of passport.

  • 본 논문에서는 WCDMA단말기 직접변환 수신기에서 DC 오프셋 발생원인과 DC 오프셋에 의한 시스템 성능열화에 대해 언급하고, QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying)변조 방식에서 DC오프셋 값에 의한 성능 열화를 시뮬레이션을 통해 확률 오류에 대한 $E_{b}/N_{o}$ 값으로 나타내었다. DC 오프셋 제어 회로를 추가한 단말기 직접변환 RF 트랜시버 보드를 구현하여 WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) 테스트 베드를 구축하고, DC 오프셋 변화량에 따른 복조기 수신 성능을 $E_{c}/I_{o}$ 값을 이용하여 평가 및 분석하였다. 분석 및 시스템 시험 결과를 통해 시스템 성능열화 방지를 위한 DC 오프셋 관련 최소 성능 요구규격을 제시하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze thermal cycles and to investigate microstructures of heat affected zones for a low alloy carbon steel pipe under a multipass weld. The commercial finite element code SYSWELD is used to compute thermal cycles during multipass weld. The numerical results such as thermal cycles and size of heat affected zone are compared with those of the experiment and the two results show a good agreement. In addition, the microstructure and hardness are investigated from the weldment in detail. The weakest location is founded at intercritical region near the base metal.

Numerical Investigation of Aerodynamic Interference in Complete Helicopter Configurations

  • Unsteady flow simulations of complete helicopter configurations were conducted, and the flow fields and the aerodynamic interferences between the main rotor, fuselage, and tail rotor were investigated. For these simulations, a three-dimensional flow solver based on unstructured meshes was used, coupled with an overset mesh technique to handle relative motion among those components. To validate the flow solver, calculations were made for a UH-60A complete helicopter configuration at high-speed and low-speed forward flight conditions, and the unsteady airloads on the main rotor blade were compared to available flight test data and other calculated results. The results showed that the fuselage changed the rotor inflow distribution in the main rotor blade airloads. Such unsteady vibratory airloads were produced on the fuselage, which were nearly in-phase with the blade passage over the fuselage. The flow solver was then applied to the simulation of a generic complete helicopter configuration at various flight conditions, and the results were compared with those of the CAMRAD-II comprehensive analysis code. It was found that the main rotor blades strongly interact with a pair of disk-vortices at the outer edge of the rotor disk plane, which leads to high pulse airloads on the blade, and these airloads behave differently depending on the specific flight condition.

  • Numerical analysis of wind turbine scale effect was performed by using commercial CFD code, Fluent. For the numerical analysis of wind turbine, the three dimensional Navier-Stokes solver with various turbulence models was tested. As a turbulence mode, the realizable k-e turbulence model was selected for the simulation of wind turbines. To validate the present method, performance of NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) Phase VI wind turbine model was analyzed and compared with its wind tunnel test and blind test data. Using the present method, numerical simulations for various size of wind tunnel models were carried out and characteristics were analyzed in detail. For wind tunnel test model, the size of nacelle may not be scaled down precisely because of available motor. The effect of nacelle size was also computed and analyzed though CFD simulation. The present results showed the good correlations in pre-stall region but much to be improved in post-stall region. In 2006 and 2007, the performance and the scale effect of standard wind turbine model will be tested in KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) LSWT(Low Speed Wind Tunnel) and the present results will be validated with the wind tunnel data.

  • Recently, as the importance placed on the design phase of system development has increased, the use of diagrams to design the overall system before implementing the actual program code has seen a proportionate increase. This study focuses on the diverse diagrams depicting organizational processes when integrating multiple processes of individual organizations to form an Inter-Organizational System(IOS). In this study, we attempt to identify the critical representation features of process diagrams that enable the effective integration of Inter-Organizational processes. In particular, the effect of the mapping relationship between the representation features of different diagrams to be integrated was tested empirically in a laboratory setting. The experimental task consisted of integrating the processes of two organization based upon the given process diagrams. Actual business processes were selected from real world cases and process diagrams were formulated based upon existing object-oriented notation. An analysis of the errors committed by the subjects during the integration process indicated that the mapping relationship between the diagram features representing the respective organizational processes had a significant impact upon the final integration outcome. Based upon these results, the present study provides a guideline for process diagrams that are crucial to effective Inter-Organizational process implementation and maintenance.

J2ME MIDlet 사용자 인터페이스 자동생성을 위한 XML언어 (XML Language for Generating J2ME MIDlet User Interfaces)

  • XML을 이용한 사용자 인터페이스(UI : User Interface)명세에 관한 연구로 다양한 UI 명세언어(UIDL : User Interface Description Language)들이 등장하였다. 기존의 UIDL들은 웹과 데스크톱 어플리케이션의 UI 명세를 지원하지만, 모바일 어플리케이션을 위한 명세는 지원하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 자바의 모바일 플랫폼인 J2ME(Java Platform, Micro Edition)의 응용 모델인 MIDlet UI 명세를 위한 MIML(Midlet Interface Markup Language)을 제안한다. 제안한 MIML로부터 MIDlet의 UI와 관련된 자바 코드를 자동으로 생성하기 위한 규칙을 제안하고, 이를 이용하여 MIML을 자동으로 자바코드로 만들어주는 J2MERenderer를 구현하였다. 제안한 MIML은 모바일 UI 명세의 효율성을 제공하고, J2MERenderer는 모바일 어플리케이션의 UI 개발에 생산성과 일관성을 유지하도록 도와준다.

  • As the portion of information systems (IS) budget to the total government budget becomes greater, the cost estimation of IS development and maintenance projects is recognized as one of the most important problems to be resolved for scientific and efficient management of IS budget. Since IS budget makes much effect on the delivery time, quality and productivity of IS projects, the exact cost estimation is also necessary for the successful accomplishment of IS projects. The primary concern in the cost estimation of IS projects is software cost estimation, which requires the measurement of the size of softwares. There are two methods for sizing software : line-of-code approach, function point model. In this paper, we propose a function-point-based model for estimating software cost. The proposed model is derived by collecting about fifty domestic IT projects in public sector and analyzing their relationship between cost drivers and development effort. Since the proposed model is developed by simplifying the function point model that can be used only when detailed user requirements are specified, it can be also applied at project planning and budgeting phase.

CDGPS를 위한 LSAST 미지정수 추정기법 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on improving LSAST ambiguity resolution for CDGPS)

  • 1980년대부터 민간에 개방된 GPS는 C/A코드의 도달시간을 측정하여 위치를 계산하고, 반송파의 도플러 주파수를 측정하여 속도를 계산한다. 위치정확도를 향상시키기 위하여 공통오차를 제거하는 DGPS 기법과 반송파 위상을 이용하여 수cm 내의 정확도를 가질 수 있는 CDGPS 기법이 1990년대부터 개발되기 시작하였다. 본 논문에서는 CDGPS를 위해 LSAST 미지정수 추정기법을 개선하여 계산효율 및 신뢰도를 높이고, 단일 주파수 GPS 수신기를 이용하여 움직이는 항체의 상대위치를 수cm 내의 정확도로 측정한 실험결과를 INS의 위치와 비교하여 제시한다. 이러한 결과는 추후 정밀관성항법장치, 무인자율주행, 측지 및 정밀지도제작 등에 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다.

Radial Velocity and Photometric Study of the Long Period Interaction Binary AQ Cas

  • AQ Cassiopeiae (BD+61`0242, uv=10, Sp=B3+Bg) is a totally eclipsing binary system with the obital period of about 12 days. 71 was observed for 15 nights in 1985 with the1.8-m telescope at the DAO, employing a Reticon and a three-stage image tube attached to the spectrograph. And also, photometric observations of AQ Cas had been made inUBv for six years from 1982 to 1988 at Yonsei University Observatory(YUO). This work includes UBV observations obtained at YUO as a part of The Ten-Year Observing Program(1982-1992). Double lined radial, velocity curves and Ufv light curves of AQC as are constructed. The light curves and radial velocity curves show a strong evidence of circumstellar matter or mass stream. It is clear at the phases of just outside externaleclipse contacts, particularly at phase 0.8-0.9, shown in Figures 1 and 2. A solution by combining the radial velocity and photometric curves of the binary was obtained with the Wilson-Devinney Code. We found that the system is semi-detached with the coolcomponent filling its Roche lobe. The absolute dimensions of AQ Cas are calculated. The result shows that this system consists of two massive and subgiant stars.
