  • In this paper, smoothing plane connector have been proposed as the vehicle connector for the wireless access in vehicular environments (5.925GHz) communication. This smoothing plane connector is designed by considering the properties of critical parameter like smoothing distance of start to end point of contact area. The design simulation and results can be used to determine the most suitable smoothing plane wire dimensions for vehicle communication connector. The optimized WAVE connector inserted the smoothing plane wire has insertion loss less than-0.17dB at 5.925GHz. It provides 20% of insertion loss with good performance. Therefore, the simulated results can be effectively used for optimum design of high frequency connector for vehicle communication.

  • This paper deals with a new variable microwave power distributor and a connector between a deck plate and a input power waveguide for indoor microwave wireless power transmission. We design a new type connector built in the 3-stage coaxial line structure, and calculate the return loss of the connector at 2.45GHz. Newly designed connector shows the excellent return loss performance less than -30dB at the operating frequency of 2.45GHz. And we show a power distributor in which the dividing ratio of the power is controlled mechanically by three rotary fins. The distributor can control the dividing power from 4.5% to 58% with the variance of 5% output power. The experimentally tested results of the distributor are good agreement with the simulation within the return loss of 1%.

  • In this paper, a coaxial sample holder is proposed with its de-embedding and parameter extraction procedure. The S-parameters were measured up to 1 GHz using network analyzer, HP8753D, and N-type connector together with the de-embedding of N-type connector. The proposed de-embedding procedure is performed to extract electrical parameters of blood glucose, which gives the permittivity of blood glucose. We also analyzed the error of extracted parameters, which are caused by instrument error and geometrical error. Using these error analyses, we reduced the error factors of extracted parameters. We extracted electrical parameters of glucose samples through these all extraction procedure and confirmed the possibility of glucose diagnosis system based on microwave system.

  • As a method to measure the absorbing characteristics of microwave absorber, the various microwave measuring method can be used fundamentally. There is, however, a big problem in measuring errors, since the wavelength of microwave such as used for radar is very short. Therefore, this research aimed to design and fabricate a converting adaptor of 20mm .PHI. coaxial tube from a Type - N connector to $20mm\phi$ coaxial tube and to use it for evaluating absorption characteristics of microwave absorber. Furthermore, the measurements of absorbing characteristics and material constants have been performed and reviewed, which were carried out by using the coaxial tube and by using rectangular waveguide, res- pectively. As a result, the validity of the proposed measuring method has been confirmed.

  • A coaxial-conical-radial transmission line conversion circuits have been investigated to realize a low loss high performance microwave power divider/combiner. In order to optimize the characteristics of the device, the power divider/combiner was designed separately with two parts-the inner part and the outer part. Utilizing the rectangular approximation of the outer part, we can design the low loss device which is not affected by the partition number N of the outer part. The small return loss which is lower than 20dB was obtained on the frequency range of 5.15GHz(7.45~12.60GHz). A conical connector was employed for smooth connection between the central coaxial line and the outer radial line. Making use of the $47^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ 2-stage conical connector, the return loss lower than 30dB was obtained on the operating frequency range of 5GHz. The total return loss of the designed divider/combiner was lower than 20dB on the frequency range of 5GHz for the partition number N=11, N=12 and N=16.

  • Home CATV networks comprise coaxial cables and signal splitters which have less than ideal characteristics. Home network testing facilities use long lengths of coaxial cables, often undesirably coiling and bending the cable, stressing joints on connectors. Cable connectors, cable placement, bending and flexing can cause leakage of signals and can result in undesired signal paths in a system causing deteriorated performance. The purpose of this paper is to bring to light the issues of signal leakage and radiation from shielded media such as RG-59 and RG-6 coaxial cables, furthermore signal splitters have less than ideal characteristics.

  • According to the increase of occupation density of microwave frequency band on use microwave environments have been congested extensively. For shielding unnecessary electromagnetic wave of preventing the electromagnetic wave reflection a good conductor a low resistive material or a lossy material is mainly used. As a method to measure the absorbing characteristics of microwave absorber the fundamental microwave measuring method can be used. There is however a big problem in measuring errors since the wavelength of microwave is very short especially as in the case as microwave absorber for RADAR. Therefore this research aimed to a converting adaptor of 20mm${\Phi}$ coaxial tube from a Type-N connector to 20mm${\Phi}$ coaxial tube and to use it for designing microwave absorber and evaluating absorbing characteristics. Furthermore the measurements of absorbing characteristics and material constants have performed and reviewed which were carried out by using the coaxial tube in the short type and by using rectangular waveguide respectively As a result the validity of the measured values have been confirmed.

  • The recent development of 4G mobile communication system has led to the rapid technology shift from conventional repeater systems using coaxial cable links towards new fiber optic repeater systems using fiber-optic links between the base station and the outdoor fiber optic repeater. The technical changes have brought up the increasing needs of robust optic links that can be used in harsh environments. Based on the most demanding requirements, a new outdoor optical connector employing 2-channel fiber optics, uplink and downlink, has been developed for the applications where the rugged environmental protection is essential. This paper describes the development of the new connector along with the design criteria and performance results. In summarizing, the prototype optical connectors have undergone extensive laboratory and field test, and they have shown exceptional optical and mechanical characteristics under extreme environmental conditions. The connectors have also exhibited capabilities of providing fast and easy installation while maintaining high performance fiber optic connections.

  • The coaxial sample holder with 20mm in diameter and the adaptor from type N connector-to-20mm${\phi}$ coaxial tube are designed and manufactured which have been used for designing and measuring the fabricated microwave absorber. In addition, the measure in method of material constants of the microwave absorbers is described, which is focused on minimizing the error due to the sample's shapes, the fitting conditions, etc. After describing the design method of a single-layed microwave absorber, the microwave absorbers for X-band, C-band and S-band RADARs are designed and fabricated, respectively, which are composed of ferrite, carborn, and binder and have good performance. Futhermore, we develop the high performance microwave absorber in extremely wide-band type for RADAR, which is composed of different material and its mixing ratio and which could cover nearly from 4 to 10 GHz.
