니들 코팅을 이용한 OLED 광 추출용 구형 마이크로렌즈 어레이 제작 (Fabrication of Spherical Microlens Array Using Needle Coating for Light Extraction of OLEDs)

  • By an aid of needle coating, we have fabricated a spherical microlens array using poly(methyl methacrylate) for potential applications in light extraction of organic light-emitting diodes. With an attempt to achieve high-density and high-aspect-ratio microlens arrays, we have investigated the coating behaviors by varying the material parameters such as the solute concentration and wettability of the poly(methyl methacrylate) solution and process parameters such as the dwell time of needle near the substrate, retract distance of needle from the substrate, and coating gap between the needle and substrate. Under the optimized coating conditions, it is demonstrated that high-aspect-ratio microlens arrays can be obtained using a coating solution with high solute concentration and a small amount of a hydrophobic solvent. It is found that the diameter and height of microlens array are decreased with increasing poly(methyl methacrylate) concentration, yet the overall aspect ratio is rather enhanced. By the addition of 5 wt% hexylamine in 35 wt% poly(methyl methacrylate) solution, we have achieved a spherical microlens with the height of 7.7 ㎛ and the width of 94.24 ㎛ (the aspect ratio of 0.082). To estimate the capability of light extraction by the microlens array, we have performed ray tracing simulations and demonstrated that the light extraction efficiency of organic light-emitting diode is expected to be enhanced up to 24%.

  • Colloidal quantum dot (CQD) is emerging as a promising active material for next-generation solar cell applications because of its inexpensive and solution-processable characteristics as well as unique properties such as a tunable band-gap due to the quantum-size effect and multiple exciton generation. However, the most widely used spin-coating method for the formation of the quantum dot (QD) active layers is generally hard to be adopted for high productivity and large-area process. Instead, the spray-coating technique may potentially be utilized for high-throughput production of the CQD solar cells (CQDSCs) because it can be adapted to continuous process and large-area deposition on various substrates although the cell efficiency is still lower than that of the devices fabricated with spin-coating method. In this work, we observed that the subsequent treatment of two different ligands, halide ion and butanedithiol, on the lead sulfide (PbS) QD layer significantly enhanced the cell efficiency of the spray CQDSCs. The maximum power conversion efficiency was 5.3%, comparable to that of the spin-coating CQDSCs.

Leidenfrost Points Tuned via Surface Coating and Structures

  • A quantitative relationship between Leidenfrost point and surface characteristics such as surface material and roughness is investigated. Based on the relationship, we have fabricated the surfaces with their Leidenfrost points (LFP) tuned by controlling surface coating and structures. As discovered by Leidenfrost, liquids placed on a hot plate levitate on the gas phase-air gap formed by the vaporization of liquids. This phenomenon is called 'Leidenfrost effect'. A change of LFP has attracted many researchers for several years but the ability to tune LFP is still a remaining issue. Many of previous work has progressed for various conditions so the systematic approach and analysis are needed to clearly correlate the LFP and the surface conditions. In this report, we investigate a relation of surface energy and LFP using various coating materials such as Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) and 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-Perfluorooctyltrichlorosilane (FOTS). Also, we analyze how surface roughness affects LFP via surface micro structuring with ICP-RIE fabrication process. The improved understanding can have potential applications such as the control of liquid droplet behavior at elevated temperatures for efficient cooling system.

자동차용 1500MPa급 초고강도강의 레이저 용접 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Laser Welding Characteristics of 1500MPa Grade Ultra High Strength Steel for Automotive Application)

  • In this study, fundamental experiment was conducted with various strength of UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) by $CO_2$ laser. And then, butt and lap joint laser welding with boron alloyed steel and Al-Si coated boron alloy steel have been done by changing laser beam feature, existence of gap and existence of coating layer to know welding characteristics of those materials. As a result, in case of fundamental experiment with various strength steel, hardening was found in the weld metal of all tested materials and softening was found at the heat affected zone of SGAFC 1180. In case of laser butt welding of UHSS, mechanical properties was improved by using small laser beam diameter and Al-Si coating layer caused fracture of weld metal. In case of laser lap welding of UHSS, Al-Si coating layer resulted in formation of intermetallic compound at the fusion boundary where fracture occurred. Al-Si coating layer caused lowering mechanical properties of weld metal.

스크린 프린팅으로 제작된 $Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ 후막의 제작과 전기적 특성 (Preparation and Electrical Properties of Lead Zirconate Titanate Thick Films Fabricated by Screen-Printing Method)

  • PZT(80/0) powder was prepared by a sol-gel method and PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on the alumina substrates. The coating and drying procedure was repeated 4 times. And then the PZT(20/80) precusor solution was spin-coated on the PZT thick films. A concentration of a coating solution was 0.5mol/L and the number of coating was varied from 0 to 6. The porosity decreased and the grain size increased with increasing the number of coatings. The thickness of the PZT-6(6: number of coatings) films was about $60{\mu}m$. The relative dielectric constant increased and the dielectric loss decreased with increasing the number of PZT(20/80) sol coatings. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the PZT-6 thick film were 275 and 3.5%, respectively. The remanent polarization, coercive field and breakdown strength of the PZT-6 film were $19.8{\mu}C/cm^2$, 13.7kV/cm and 130kV/cm, respectively.

  • 태양전지는 무기태양전지와 유기태양전지 등이 연구 되고 있는데 [1] 그 중 유기물질의 장점(높은 수율, solution phase processing, 저비용으로 전력 생산)과 무기재료의 장점(높은 전자 이동도, 넓은 흡수 범위, 우수한 환경 및 열 안정성)을 융합함으로써 장기적 구조안정성의 확보와 광전변환의 고 효율화를 동시에 달성하기 위한 유기무기 하이브리드 태양전지가 최근 큰 관심을 끌고 있다[2]. 본 연구에서는 hybrid photovoltaics에 유기물 MDMO-PPV와 전도성 고분자 PEDOT:PSS를 무기물 GaN 위에 spin coating 하여 두께에 다른 효율을 측정하였다. 유기물 MDMO-PPV는 p-형으로 클로로벤젠, 톨루엔과 같은 유기 용매에 잘 녹으며 HOMO 5.33eV, LUMO 2.97eV, energy band gap 2.4eV이며 99.5%의 순도 물질을 사용하였다. 또한 정공 수송층(hole transport layer, HTL)으로 PEDOT:PSS를 사용하였으며, HOMO 5.0eV, LUMO 3.6eV, energy band gap 1.4eV를 가지며 증류수나 에탄올과 같은 수용성 용매에 잘 녹는 특성을 가지고 있다. 무기물은 III-V 족 물질 n-GaN(002)을 사용하였고 valence band energy 1.9eV, conduction band energy 6.3eV, energy band gap 3.4eV, 높은 전자 이동도와 높은 포화 속도, 광전자 소자에 유리한 광 전기적 특성을 가지고 있다. 기판으로는 GaN와 격자 부정합도와 열팽창계수 부정합도가 큰 Sapphire (Al2O3) 이종 기판을 사용하였다. 전극으로 Au를 사용하였으며 E-beam증착하였다. Reflector로서 Al를 thermal evaporator로 증착하였다 [3]. 실험 과정은 두께에 따른 효율을 알아보기 위해 MDMO-PPV를 900~1,500 rpm으로 spin coating 하였고, 열처리에 따른 효율을 알아보기 위해 열처리 온도 조건을 $110{\sim}170^{\circ}C$의 변화를 주었다. FE-SEM으로 표면과 단면을 관찰하였으며 J-V 특성을 알아보기 위해 각 샘플마다 solar simulator를 사용하여 측정하였고 그 결과를 논의하였다.

  • The spatter and porosity could be occurred during$CO_2$CW laser welding of Primer- coated steel for shipbuilding. This study has suggested an alternative idea by examining of weld-defect formation mechanism. The primer-coated plate induced the spatter humping bead and porosity and these are main part of the welding defect. attributed to the powerful vaporizing pressure of primer attached on the base metal The zinc of Primer has a boiling point that is the lower temperature than melting point of steel zinc vapor will build up at the interface between the two sheets and this tends to deteriorate the quality of the weld by ejecting weld material from lap position or leaving porosity. Therefore introducing a small gap clearance in the lap position. the zinc vapor could escape through it and sound weld beads can be acquired. In conclusion, we suggested the occurred and prevented mechanism of weld defects with searching the factor.

Structural and Dielectric Properties of Sol-gel Derived BiFeO3/Pb(Zr,T)O3 Heterolayered Thin Films

  • $BiFeO_3/Pb(Zr_{0.95}Ti_{0.05})O_3$ (BFO/PZT) heterolayered thin films were fabricated by the spin coating method on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate using metal alkoxide solutions. The coating and heating procedure was repeated 6 times to form the heterolayered films. The thickness of the BFO/PZT films after one cycle of drying/sintering is about 30-40 nm. All BFO/PZT films show a void free uniform grain structure without the presence of rosette structures. It can be assumed that the crystal growth of the upper BFO layers can be influenced by the lower PZT layers. As the number of coatings increased, the dielectric constant increased, so that the value for the 6-layer film was 1360 at 1 KHz.

Effects of Annealing Temperature on Properties of Al-Doped ZnO Thin Films prepared by Sol-Gel Dip-Coating

  • Aluminum doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films have been prepared on the glass substrates (Corning 1737) by sol-gel dip-coating method employing zinc acetate and aluminum chloride hexahydrate for the transparent conducting oxide (TCO) applications. 1 at% Al was doped to the ZnO thin films. The effects of post-heating temperature on the crystallization, optical and electrical properties of the AZO films have been investigated. Experimental results showed that post-heating temperature affected the microstructure, electrical resistance, and optical transmittance of the AZO films. From the X-ray diffraction analysis, all films have hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure. Optical transmittance spectra of the AZO films exhibited transmittance higher than about 80% within the visible wavelength region and the optical direct band gap ($E_g$) of these films was increased with increasing post-heating temperature. A minimum resistivity of $2.5{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$ was observed at $650^{\circ}C$.

  • Ferroelectric PZT(30/70)/PZT(70/30) heterolayered thin films were fabricated by spin-coating method on the $Pt/Ti/SiO_2Si$ substrate alternately using(30/70) and PZT(70/30) alkoxide solutions prepared by sol-coating method. The coating and heating procedure was repeated six times to form PZT heterolayered films, and thickness of the film obtained by one-times drying/sintering process was about 40-50 nm. All PZT heterolayered films, showed dense and homogeneous structure without the presence of rosette sturctrue. The relative dielectric constant, remanent polarization and leakage current density of PZT heterolayered films were superior to those of single composition PZT(30/70) and PZT(70/30) films, and those values for the PZT-6 film were 975, $21 \muC/cm^2\; and\; 8\times10^{-9}\; A/cm^2$, respectively. And the PZT-6 heterolayered film showed fairly good fatigue characteristics of remanent polarization and coercive field after application of $10^8$ switching cycles.
