  • Al-N co-doped ZnO films were fabricated on n-Si (100) and homo-buffer layers in the mixture of oxygen and nitrogen at $450^{\circ}C$ by magnetron sputtering. Target was ZnO ceramic mixed with $2wt%Al_2O_3$. XRD spectra show that as-grown and $600^{\circ}C$ annealed films are prolonged along crystal c-axis. However they are not prolonged in (001) plane vertical to c-axix. The films annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ are not prolonged in any directions. Codoping makes ZnO films unidirectional variation. XPS show that Al content hardly varies and N escapes with increasing annealing temperature from $600^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. The electric properties of as-grown films were tested by Hall Effect with Van der Pauw configuration show some of them to be p-type conduction.

  • Spintronics is a rapidly expanding research area because of recent developments in the physics of spin-dependent phenomena. For use as spintronic materials, dilute magnetic semiconductors (DMS) are of considerable interest as spin injectors for spintronic devices.$^{[1]}$ Many researchers have studied DMS, in which transition metal atoms are introduced into the lattice, thus inserting local magnetic moments into the lattice. • In this study, we synthesized a combination of graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) and confirm that GO can be used for CO2 photoreduction. TiO2 exhibited highly efficient combination with other conventional electric charges generated by these paration phenomenon for suppression of hole-electron recombination. This improved the efficiency of CO2 photoreduction. The synthetic form of GO-TiO2 used in this study was agraphene sheet surrounded by TiO2 powder. Efficiency and stability were enhanced by combination of GO and TiO2. In a CO2 photoreduction experiment, the highest CO conversion rate was 0.652 μmol/g·h in GO10-TiO2 (2.3-fold that of pure TiO2) and the highest CH4 production rate was 0.037 μmol/g·h in GO0.1-TiO2 (2.4-fold that of pure TiO2). GO enhances photocatalytic efficiency by functioning as a support and absorbent, and enabling charge separation. With increasing GO concentration, the CH4 level decreases to~45% due to decreased transfer of electrons. In this study, TiO2 together with GO yielded a different result than the normal doping effect and selective CO2 photoreduction.

  • $Zn_{1-x}Co_x$ Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework (ZIF) (x = 0~0.05) were prepared by the co-precipitation of $Zn^{2+}$ and $Co^{2+}$ using 2-methylimidazole, which were converted into pure and Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles by heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Homogeneous Zn/Co ZIFs were achieved at x < 0.05 owing to the strong coordination of the imidazole linker to $Zn^{2+}$ and $Co^{2+}$, facilitating atomic-scale doping of Co into ZnO via annealing. By contrast, heterogeneous Zn/Co ZIFs were formed at $x{\geq}0.05$, resulting in the formation of $Co_3O_4$ second phase. To investigate the potential as high-performance gas sensors, the gas sensing characteristics of pure and Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles were evaluated. The sensor using 3 at% Co-doped ZnO exhibited an unprecedentedly high response and selectivity to trimethylamine, whereas pure ZnO nanoparticles did not. The facile, bimetallic ZIF derived synthesis of doped-metal oxide nanoparticles can be used to design high-performance gas sensors.

  • $WO_3$-doped $SnO_2$ thin films were prepared in a solution-deposition method and their gas-sensing characteristics were investigated. The doping of $WO_3$ to $SnO_2$ increased the response ($R_a/R_g,\;R_a$: resistance in air, $R_g$: resistance in gas) to $H_2$ substantially. Moreover, the $R_a/R_g$ value of 10 ppm CO increased to 5.65, whereas that of $NO_2$ did not change by a significant amount. The enhanced response to $H_2$ and the selective detection of CO in the presence of $NO_2$ were explained in relation to the change in the surface reaction by the addition of $WO_3$. The $WO_3$-doped $SnO_2$ sensor can be used with the application of a $H_2$ sensor for vehicles that utilize fuel cells and as an air quality sensor to detect CO-containing exhaust gases emitted from gasoline engines.

  • [ $Al_2TiO_5$ ]has a high refractive index and good solubility of the chromophore in the $Al_2TiO_5$ lattice, which allows this structure to be a good candidate for the development of new ceramic pigments. However, pure $Al_2TiO_5$ is well known to decompose on firing at $900{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$. However, this process can be inhibited by the incorporation of certain metal cations into its crystalline lattice. In this study, the synthesis of gray ceramic pigment was performed by doping cobalt on the $Al_2TiO_5$ crystal structure. The $Al_2TiO_5$ was synthesized using $Al_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$, and doped with $Co_3O_4$ as a chromophore material. In order to prevent the thermal decomposition during the cooling procedure, MgO was added to samples by 0.05 mole, 0.1 mole, and 0.15 mole as a stabilizer. The samples were fired at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and cooled naturally. The crystal structure, solubility limit, and color of the synthesized pigment were analyzed using XRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV, and UV-vis. $Al_2O_3$ was available for the formation of $CoAl_2O_4$, which should also be considered in order to explain the small amount of this phase detected in the sample with the higher $Co^{2+}$ content (${\geq}$ 0.03 mole). It was found that the solubility limit of $Co^{2+}$ in the $Al_2TiO_5$ crystal was 0.02 mole% through an analysis of Raman spectroscopy. Through the addition of a pigment with 0.02 mole% of $Co^{2+}$ to lime-barium glaze, stabilized gray color pigments with 66.54, -2.35, and 4.68 as CIE-$L^*a^*b^*$ were synthesized.

  • Using the Micro-Pulling Down (${\mu}$-PD), $MnO_2$ and $Tb_4O_7$ co-doped crack-free stoichiometric $LiNbO_3$ single crystals were grown in 1.0 mm diameter and 25-30 mm length for c-axis. The homogeneous distributions of $MnO_2$ and $Tb_4O_7$ concentration were confirmed by the Electron Probe Microanalysis (EPMA). Also, the infrared OH absorption band of the single crystals observed by using a Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR) at room temperature and the photoluminescence spectra was measured with respect to the $MnO_2$ and $Tb_4O_7$ doping.

  • N-doped Na2Ti6O13@TiO2 (denoted as N-NTO@TiO2) composites are successfully synthesized using a simple two-step process: 1) ball-milling of TiO2 with Na2CO3 followed by heat treatment at 900℃; 2) mixing of the prepared Na2Ti6O13 with titanium isopropoxide and calcining with urea at 500℃. The prepared composites are characterized using XRD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, and BET. The N-NTO@TiO2 composites exhibit well-defined crystalline and anatase TiO2 with exposed {101} facets on the external surface. Moreover, dopant N atoms are uniformly distributed over a relatively large area in the lattice of the composites. Under visible light irradiation, ~51% of the aqueous methylene blue is photodegraded by N-NTO@TiO2 composites, which is higher than the values shown by other samples because of the coupling effects of the hybridization of NTO and TiO2, N-doping, and presence of anatase TiO2 with exposed {101} facets.
