  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the number of spermatozoa and insemination section(field) of reproductive organs at artificial insemination using laparoscopy(Fiber optic laparoscopic system, Good-Gene Co., Korea) in deer(Elk) and cattle. Twenty six elk does and fifteen cows were inserted CIDR into virginia during 12∼14 days for synchronization of estrus. (omitted)

  • This study was the effect of inserting CO tube on $NO_x$ and CO emission characteristics in a compact combustion chamber. In detail, $NO_x$ and CO emission characteristics with changing of distance due to inserting CO tube between a burner and a main heat exchanger were investigated. For this study, the commercial program, FLUENT with GRI 2.11 detail reaction mechanism, was used for the numerical study and a commercial heat exchanger was tested for the experimental study. As results, when the CO tube was inserted between a burner and a main heat exchanger, it was verified that $NO_x$ and CO emissions was decreased simultaneously as CO tube was closed to a burner and the distance between CO tube and a main heat exchanger was increased.

  • This study was the effect of CO tube insert for NOx and CO emission characteristics in a compact combustion chamber. In detail, NOx and CO emission characteristics with changing of distance due to inserting the CO tube between the burner and the main heat exchanger were investigated. As results, when the CO tube was inserted between the burner and the main heat exchanger, it was verified the simultaneous NOx and CO reduction method because of increasing the residence time and decreasing the flame temperature.

Improvement of Magnetoresistance in NiO Spin-Valves including CoO layer (CoO가 삽입된 NiO스핀밸브의 자기저항특성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • We inserted CoO layer in NiO spin-valves to improve on magnetoresistance and exchange coupling field. The magnetoresistance ratio was increased from 4.5 % to 5.5 % with the increase of CoO thickness. We can not find the dependence between (111) texture and exchange coupling by the measurement of XRD of CoO/NiO spin-valves. The surface roughness of CoO layer, 6.1 $\AA$ is twice more than that of NiO layer, 3.1 $\AA$. The increase of exchange coupling field and coercive field in the CoO/NiO spin-valves will be due to increasing roughness. We prepared the NiO/CoO/NiO/CoO/NiO spin-valves to reduce coercive field and the coercive field decreased from 110 Oe to 50 Oe, and the coupling field is not changed from 70 Oe.

  • In this letter, we propose a channel estimation algorithm based on incremental pilots. These are pilots additionally inserted after puncturing the modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols to enhance channel estimation performance without lowering bandwidth efficiency. A low-density parity-check code puncturing scheme is also proposed to prevent the performance degradation due to the codeword bit loss caused by punctured OFDM symbols.

  • DNA transfection conditions were investigated by calcium phosphate-DNA co-precipitation in SK-N-BE(2)C human neuroblastoma cells. The DNA plasmid of TH2400CAT was used in which rat tyrosine hydroxylase gene was inserted into chloramphenicol acetyltransferase reporter gent. The transfection efficiency was 25-30% and the method was simple and reproducible. So, the method will be a good tool for transient transfection analysis.

  • Local heat transfer characteristics inside a hard disk driver(HDD) are investigated in this study. The investigation is considered between disks co-rotating in a cylindrical enclosure. The gap spacing, rotating speed and head-arm positions are mainly considered to understand the flow and heat transfer in the co-rotating disks. The naphthalene sublimation technique is used to determine local heat/mass transfer coefficients on the rotating disk. Flow patterns inside the co-rotating disks are investigated using a Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) and also analyzed numerically. The results show that the heat transfer coefficients on the disk changed little with the gap spacing between disks. Heat transfer rates in the outer region increases with increasing rotating Renolds number, but the values normalized by that on a free rotating disk give a similar pattern for the tested cases. The head-arm inserted between the rotating disks destroys the inner region resulting in enhancement of heat transfer in that region.

Simultaneous Neck Dissection in Transoral $CO_2$ Laser Surgery for Supraglottic Cancer (성문상부암에서의 경구강 $CO_2$ 레이저 수술과 동시경부청소술)

  • Objectives : In $CO_2$ laser surgery for supraglottic cancer, neck dissection is generally done in second stage. We investigated simultaneous neck dissection with primary resection could be available in laser supraglottic surgery. Material and Methods : We analyzed 13 patients with supraglottic cancer who were treated with transoral supraglottic laryngectomy and simultaneous neck dissection from 2001 to 2007. Tumor stage, extent of laser surgery, histological results, survival rate, local control rate, complications, and functional results were reviewed. Results : 5-year local control rate, survival rate and disease specific survival rate from the neck was 100%, 69.9%, 100% respectively. Tracheotomy was done in all 13 cases. One patient had a long tracheotomy indwelling (191 days). In the rest of 12 patients average decanulation time was 7.4 days(1-22 days). Nasogastric tube was inserted in 5 cases, and average oral intake was possible in 3.5 days(1-16 days). Average hospital days was 29.7 days. There was no serious complication associated with neck dissection. Conclusion : Simultaneous neck dissection with primary laser resection for supraglottic cancer is oncologic sound and can be performed without significant surgical morbidity.

  • In the cases of the experimentally destroyed receptor organ of the Corti of the cats, "electric cochlea" were inserted near the auditory neuron through the Scala tympani as an input of the inner device, and outer device is placed near the receiver of the audiometer. During exposing noise through the outer device, kymographic record were obtained as following: 1) Correlation between increasing intensity and amplitude showed parallel responses 2) The auricular reflex by repeated stimulation of the sound showed considerable increase at first, and decrease respectively. 3) In this experimental animals, absolutely non-responsed period, relatively non-responsed period and responsed period were observed. 4) Above mentioned reflex indicate that "Auditory sensation" can be induced by inserted "Electric cochlea" in the cases of the experimentally destroyed receptor organ of Corti of the cats.

  • Glass wool is an eco-friendly materials that is manufactured through a continuous process by processing waste glass. This materials is low cost compared with another materials and has excellent thermal conductivity. For this reason, glass wool is installed as insulation system for LNG carriers and as insulation of building wall as well as various industries. The mechanism of insulation of glass wool is the conduction of the wool itself and convection by space between fibers. Therefore, in order to develop the enhanced thermal conductivity of glass wool is necessary to reduce its own conduction or to insert additional material after manufacturing as well as prevent convection. In this respect, many researchers have been actively studying to decrease thermal conductivity of polyurethane foam using by inserted glass wool or change the chemical component of glass wool. However, many research are aiming reduction of glass wool itself. This study focus on post-processing and inserted different materials; silica-aerogel, kevlar fiber 1mm, 6mm and glass bubble. Experimental results show that the thermal conductivity almost decreases with the addiction of glass bubble and silica aerogel.
