  • This paper aims at enhancing the electric production efficiency of photovoltaic(PV) system. The electrical power of PV system is proportional to light intensity on a PV module surface. In this paper, we apply two types of systems to enhance power generation efficiency. First, of all, concentring sunlight using specular surface and one-axis tracking system which traces the sun with vertical direction are applied in this project. From this, we analyze the fixed type method and power generation efficiency.

  • Porous Co-P catalysts electroplated on Cu in chloride based solution with an addition of $NaH_2PO_2$ and glycine were developed for hydrogen generation from alkaline $NaBH_4$ solution. The microstructures of the Co-P catalysts and their hydrogen generation properties were analyzed as a function of cathodic current density and plating time during the electrodeposition. Amorphous Co-P electrodeposits with porous structure was formed on Cu at cathodic current density of $0.05\;A/cm^2$, and showed very high hydrogen generation rate in alkaline $NaBH_4$ solution due to an increase in the surface area of the catalyst as well as the catalytic activity. The Co-P catalyst, which was obtained at cathodic current density of $0.05\;A/cm^2$ for 5 min, exhibited the best hydrogen generation rate of 2290 ml/min.g-catalyst in 1 wt. % NaOH+10 wt. % $NaBH_4$ solution at $30^{\circ}C$.

  • A new approach considering CO2 air pollution constraints in the long-term generation mix is proposed under uncertain circumstances. A characteristic feature of the presented approach in this paper is what effects give the air pollution constraints in long term best generation mix. Best generation mix problem is formulated by linear programming with fuel and construction cost minimization with load growth, reliability (reserve margin rate) and air pollutionconstraints. The proposed method accommodates the operation of pumped-storage generator. It was assumed in this study that the construction planning of the hydro power plants is given separately from the other generation plans. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by applying to the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system, which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pumped-storage hydro plant multi-years.

  • In this paper, we empirically evaluate the potential performance of energy conversion policy and analyze its effects on power generation sector. We first examine the degree of substitutability between energy inputs by measuring the price elasticities of energy demands and then estimate the changes in CO2 generation when the proportions of nuclear power plants and renewable power generation are increased. The shadow prices of nuclear power and renewable energy are calculated to compare the potential costs of power generation between the two energy sources. We analyze the impacts of the expansion of nuclear power plants and renewable power generation on power supply price. Nuclear and renewable energy were measured to be complementary to each other. The expansion of nuclear power plants has been more effective in reducing CO2 emissions than increasing renewable power generation. In most years over 2002 to 2016, the impact of nuclear power expansion on the power supply price was generally higher than that of renewable power generation, with relatively large range of fluctuations.

  • Energy consumption statistics have been surveyed for 50 large commercial buildings with high energy consumption records in Seoul City. The buildings were classified into three different groups for data analysis: hospitals, hotels, and department stores/office buildings. The analysis was focused on identifying installed boiler and refrigerator data, energy consumption rates, and energy load distribution throughout the year. Refrigerating electricity was confirmed again to affect most on the formation of the summer electricity load peak as expected. Replacing the refrigerator electricity peak in the summer with co-generation in large commercial buildings. However, overall heat load distribution in a single building is still considered not large enough for economically feasible co-generation and thus joint co-generation for multiple neighboring buildings are preferred and the Electric Power Law and LNG pricing policy should be revised favorably for co-generation in advance.

  • Co-generation systems have been spreading rapidly over the past 10 years in Korea and most of these systems are interconnected with electric power systems. However, better control and protection models are still needed for analysis of these systems to ensure stable operation with the grid. This paper proposes improved EMTDC models for control fad protection analysis of grid-connected co-generation systems. Through on-site characteristic testing, the models were developed and the model parameters were determined. The models were applied to a field co-generation system, and analysis of control and protection was performed showing a good match to the simulation results.

  • Generally, porosity which was formed by pyrolysis of the primer is usually generated in the weld metal in respect of increase of the welding speed. in order to analyze the cause of porosity generation, this study was performed using FCAW(flux cored arc welding) process for three kinds of inorganic.zinc primer. in addition the evaluation by influence of welding method on porosity generation is conducted to compare between FCAW and MAG(metal active gas) welding with the same inorganic zinc primer. As the result of this investigation, not only primer of lower organic binder and zinc but also FCAW process than MAG in fillet welding have been verified the excellent resistance to the porosity generation for horizontal fillet welding.

  • Combustion instability is a major issue in design of co-generation gas turbine combustors for efficient operation with low emissions. Combustion instability is induced by the interaction of the unsteady heat release of the combustion process and the change in the acoustic pressure in the combustion chamber. In an effort to develop a technique to predict self-excited combustion instability of co-generation gas turbine combustors, a new stability analysis method based on the transfer matrix method is developed. The method views the combustion system as a one-dimensional acoustic system with a side branch and describes the heat source as the input to the system. This approach makes it possible to use not only the advantages of the transfer matrix method but also well established classic control theories. The approach is applied to a simple co-generation gas turbine combustion system, which shows the validity and effectiveness of the approach.

  • This paper presents a method of generation rescheduling using Newton's Approach which searches the solution of the Lagrangian function. The generation fuel cost and $CO_2$ emission cost functions are used as objective function to reallocate power generation while satisfying several equality and inequality constraints. The Pareto optimum in the fuel cost and emission objectives has a number of non-dominated solutions. The economic effects are analyzed under several different conditions, and $CO_2$ emission reductions offered by the use of storage are considered. The proposed approach can explore more efficient and noninferior solutions of a Multiobjective optimization problem. The method proposed is applied to a 4-machine 6-buses system to demonstrate its effectiveness.
