The semiconductor industry faces physical limitations due to its top-down manufacturing processes. High cost of EUV equipment, time loss during tens or hundreds of photolithography steps, overlay, etch process errors, and contamination issues owing to photolithography still exist and may become more serious with the miniaturization of semiconductor devices. Therefore, a bottom-up approach is required to overcome these issues. The key technology that enables bottom-up semiconductor manufacturing is area-selective atomic layer deposition (ASALD). Here, various ASALD processes for elemental metals, such as Co, Cu, Ir, Ni, Pt, and Ru, are reviewed. Surface treatments using chemical species, such as self-assembled monolayers and small-molecule inhibitors, to control the hydrophilicity of the surface have been introduced. Finally, we discuss the future applications of metal ASALD processes.
Concrete is one of the most widely used structure materials. Concrete is like the motor of the construction industry. The remarkable feature of this Concrete is its cheapness and low energy consumption. Concrete alone does not show resistance against any force but only against compressive forces. Therefore, steel rebar product is used as a reinforcement and increase the strength of Concrete. It can be done by putting rebar in Concrete in different ways. Rebar rusting is one of the crucial symptoms that cause swift destruction in reinforced structures-factors such as moisture in concrete increase the steel corrosion rate. In most cases, it is difficult to compensate for the damage caused by the corrosion of base metals, so preventing corrosion will be much more cost-effective. Coatings made with nanotechnology can protect Concrete against external degradation factors to prevent water and humidity from penetrating the Concrete and prevent rusting and corrosion of the rebar inside. It prevents water penetration and contamination into the Concrete and increases the Concrete's quality and structural efficiency. In this research, silica and titanium dioxide nanoparticle coatings have been used due to their suitable electrical and thermal properties, resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and wear to prevent the corrosion of rebars in Concrete. The results of this method show that these nanoparticles significantly improve the corrosion resistance of rebars.
Fifty seven soil samples were collected from the paddy soil filled with tailings in the vicinity of the Seosung Pb-Zn mine. Those samples were analyzed for As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Pb, and Zn in order to investigate heavy metal pollution levels in the paddy soil. Analyses of the soil samples were carried out using Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry(ICP-AES) . Paddy soils show pH range from 6.55 to 8.26. X-ray diffraction analyses of the paddy soil indicate that the soils consist predominantly ankerite, siderite, quartz, mica, and clay minerals with minor amounts of amphibole and chlorite. The mineral composition of the waste rocks consists of massive galena, sphalerite, and minor amounts of pyrite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, calcite, siderite, Pb-sulfosalt, and marcasite. The paddy soils were significantly contaminated by heavy metals(average concentrations, As: 334.4 ppm, Cd: 37.6 ppm, Co: 15.7 ppm, Cu: 214.1 ppm, Pb: 4,612 ppm, and Zn: 4,468 ppm).
Deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZEN) are naturally occurring toxins produced by Fusarium species, which may grow on cereals. The aims of this study were to determine the incidence and contamination levels of DON and ZEN in cereal products. Seventy samples of cereal products were randomly selected from retail outlets during 2005 and 2006. DON and ZEN were analyzed by using high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence and UV-detector, respectively. Detection limits were $4.4{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ for DON and $3.4{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ for ZEN. DON and ZEN were detected in 37 and 17, respectively, of the 70 samples, but the levels found were very low. In particular, out of 70 samples, 12 samples of corn and barley were co-contaminated with DON and ZEN, with levels ranging from 5.6 to $1842.3{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ for DON and 12.1 to $174.9{\mu}g\;kg^{-1}$ for ZEN, respectively. However, DON and ZEN were not detected in breakfast cereals and wheat flour. The highest level was found in dried corn kernel samples that confirmed by LC-MS. This study show that DON and ZEN co-contaminate with low levels in cereal products.

$N_2O$(Nitrous Oxide) is known as the third major GHG(Green House Gas) following $CO_2$(Carbon Oxide) and $CH_4$(Methane). The GWP(Global Warming Potential) factor of $N_2O$ is 310 times as large as that of $CO_2$ because $N_2O$ in the atmosphere is very stable, and it becomes a source of secondary contamination after photo-degradation in the stratosphere. Investigation on the cause of the $N_2O$ formation have been continuously reported by several researchers on power sources with continuous combustion form, such as a boiler. However, in the diesel engine, research on $N_2O$ generation which has effected from fuel components has not been conducted. Therefore, in this research, author has investigated about $N_2O$ emission rates which was changed by nitrogen and sulfur concentration in fuel on the diesel engine. The test engine was a 4-stroke direct injection diesel engine with maximum output of 12 kW at 2600rpm, and operating condition of that was set up at a 75% load. Nitrogen and sulfur concentrations in fuel were raised by using six additives : nitrogen additives were Pyridine, Indole, Quinoline, Pyrrol and Propionitrile and sulfur additive was Di-tert-butyl-disulfide. In conclusion, diesel fuels containing nitrogen elements less than 0.5% did not affect $N_2O$ emissions in the all concentrations and kinds of the additive agent in the fuel. However, increasing of the sulfur additive in fuel increased $N_2O$ emission in exhaust gas.

A tentative hydrogeologic and hydrodispersive study was carried out to evaluate the groundwater pollution potential at a selected site by utilizing empirical assessment methodologies in an advanced stage of quantitative computer aided assessment. The upper most aquifer is defind as saturated overburden and weathered zone including the upper part of highly fractured rock. Representative hydraulic conductivity and storativity of the uppermost aquifer are estimated at 2.88 E-6 m/s and 0.09, respectively. Also calculated Darcian and average linear velocity of groundwater along the major pathway are 0.011 m/d and 0.12 m/d with average hydraulic gradient of 4.6% in the site. The results of empirical assessment methodologies indicate that 1) DRASTIC depicts that the site is situated on non-sensitive and non-vulnerable area. 2) Legrand numerical rating system shows that the probability of contamination and degree of acceptability are classed to "Maybe-Improbable, and Probable Acceptable and Marginally Unacceptable" with situation grade of "B". 3)Waste soil-site interaction matrix assessment categorizes that the study site is located on "Class-8 Site".
Behaviour of a fungicide $^{14}C-propiconazole$ was investigated in a rice plant grown-lysimeter soil. The lysimeter was composed of soil cores of silty clay. $Propiconazole(Tilt\;250^R\;EC)$ plus $^{14}C-labeled$ propiconazole was applied on the surface of lysimeter soil at a rate of 0.12kg/10a after rice transplanting. The application was done consecutively for two years. The behaviours of propiconazole in the lysimeter soil were investigated by measuring the amounts of $^{14}C-leachate$, $^{14}CO_2$, the residues distributed in each soil segment and taken up by rice plants. The relative amounts of $^{14}C$ leached from the lysimeter were the background level of the applied $^{14}C$ throughout expeiment. The amounts of $^{14}CO_2$ evolved from the lysimeter were 5.7 and 7.8% of the original $^{14}C$ in the 1st and 2nd treatment, respectively. The amounts of volatile substances soil were the background level throughout experiment, which indicated that propiconazole was stable chemically in the experimental condition. The $^{14}C-activities$ absorbed and translocated into rice plants were 3.7 and 7.6% in 1st and 2nd treatment, respectively. The $^{14}C-activities$ in the soil layer of the lysimeter was distributed mainly in the depth of 0 to 20cm, which suggested propiconazole did not have the risk of groundwater contamination.

In order to evaluate die geochemical characteristics of sediment in a semi-enclosed bay used as shellfish and fish farming area, the concentrations of metallic(V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co. Ni, Cu, Zn, Ag, Cd, Hg, Ph, As) and non-metallic(P, Se) elements and uranium were measured in the surface sediment samples collected from 19 stations of Gamak Bay in April 2010. Metal contamination status in the sediments were also evaluated using the sediment quality guidelines(SQGs) proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) and the enrichment factor(EF). The concentrations of elements in sediment were mainly controlled by quartz-dilution effect(V, Cr, Fe, Co and Ni), the dilution effect of organic matter(Cd and U), and metal redistribution by the decomposition of organic matter(Mn, Ag, As, and Se). The concentrations of metals, except As and Ni, in sediments from all sampling stations were lower than ERL values of NOAA. Conclusively, the surface sediment of Gamak Bay was slightly polluted with Ni, Ag, Cd, and Cd but was not polluted with other elements on the basis of EF results. Our results suggest that the surface sediment in Gamak Bay is not polluted by metallic elements.

In this study, the air quality of underground and overground railway stations was evaluated focusing on the degree of influence of the outside air quality. The measured components were particulate matter ($PM_{10}$), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$), formaldehyde (HCHO), ozone ($O_3$), total airborne bacteria (TAB), total volatile organic carbon (TVOC), and Radon (Rn), which are included in the maintenance standards and recommended standards of the Indoor Air Quality Management Act. Also, the indoor/outdoor concentration ratios of $PM_{10}$, $NO_2$, and $O_3$ were calculated to estimate the influence of the outdoor air quality. The concentrations of $PM_{10}$ HCHO, TVOC, $NO_2$, and Rn in the underground stations were found to be higher than those in the overground stations. These results indicate that the (present) generation of contaminants are caused by the indoor source of the underground station. The ozone concentration of the overground stations was higher than that of the underground stations, which indicates that the outdoor ozone concentration influenced that of the overground stations directly. Thus, methods of improving the IAQ should take into consideration the types of contamination.
Material of the gasket for lithium ion battery requires the chemical resistance, the electrical insulting property, the compression set, the anti-contamination level and the low temperature resistance. We compounded ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), which showed widely different solubility parameter index, with adjusting the amount of metal oxide as an activator. We did long-term test and compression set against an electrolyte with consideration for operating conditions in lithium-ion battery. In these tests, we checked the physical, chemical characteristics and the effect to lithium ion battery with different kinds of activators. In case of rubber with ZnO as an activator, through 1000 h depositing test in propylene carbonate which is one of representative solvents, we could get the satisfying characteristics and result. However, $Zn^{2+}$ had eluted in the ion elution test. So, ZnO should be limited in EPDM compound for the gasket material in lithium-ion battery.
