This study focuses on clothing as one of the most seasonal products and investigates consumer behavior related to climate change adaptation. This study addressed four objectives: (1) to identify the clothing behavior of consumers for the adaptation to climate change; (2) to identify the effects of fashion involvement and climate sensitivity on clothing attitude for the adaptation to climate change; (3) to identify the effect of clothing purchase time on climate sensitivity and clothing attitude for the adaptation to climate change; and (4) to identify the effect of consumer demographics on climate sensitivity and clothing attitude for the adaptation to climate change. A survey questionnaire was developed and implemented to collect data for measuring clothing involvement, fashion involvement, and climate sensitivity. In addition, clothing involvement, clothing assortment needs, and clothing worn for the adaptation to climate change were measured. A total of 349 responses were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and path analysis with SPSS18.0. The results of the analysis are as follows. Changes in temperature were considered more important than changes in weather for the functional needs of clothing, purchase needs, and assortment items needs. The assortment items wearing for the adaptation to climate change varied depending on the temperature and weather. Fashion involvement directly influenced clothing assortment needs and indirectly influenced the clothing worn for the adaptation to climate change. In terms of clothing purchase time, those purchasing clothing before the season begins, tended to have a high fashion involvement and clothing attitude for the adaptation to climate change. Those in their twenties and single, tended to be more sensitive to climate change. This study also discusses the implications for merchandising strategies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of climate change cognition on clothing behavior of fashion consumers to understand the impact of climate change on the fashion system. An online survey was conducted of 385 people in their 20s-50s working in the fashion industry as well as general consumers. Data collected from surveys were analyzed by factor analysis and t-test. Results are as follow: First, climate change cognition consists of four sub-dimensions, which are 'knowledge of climate change' and 'recognition of climate change in Korea'. Second, clothing behavior related with climate change consists of six sub-dimensions, which are 'environmentally-friendly fashion purchases', 'new clothes-wearing style affected by climate change', 'ethical fashion consumption', 'pursuit of functional fashion', 'pursuit of seasonless fashion', and 'clothes-wearing in response to climate change.' Last, the group with higher cognition of climate change than the group with lesser cognition had significantly higher degree of trying new styles created because of climate change, making ethical fashion purchases, pursuing functional fashion, and wearing clothes in response to climate change.
The study aimed to investigate the effects of climate adaptability and physical activity adherence on clothing behavior and health perception. Total usable questionnaires were obtained from 352 university students(126 male & 226 female students). Results were gained from the statistical analysis such as factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, t-test using SPSS 19.0. The results were as follows. First, male students showed higher figures than female students in physical activity adherence, cold adaptability, and health perception but vice versa in clothing behaviors related to the seasons, weather forecasts and the situation. Second, the group which had good physical activity adherence showed adequate clothing behaviors and fine health perception, which meant proper relations between exercise, clothing behavior, and health. Finally, the group which had lower climate adaptability but adequate clothing behavior according to the season showed a fine health perception. The relation between clothing behavior and health perception was checked through this.
The purpose of this study was to investigate physiological responses such as rectal temperature, skin temperature, micro climate, sweat rate and subjective sensations using cold protective clothing with five different clo value. The clo value was measured by thermal manikin in windless condition. Healthy five 20's males volunteered as subjects for wearing trial experiment. The climate chamber was controlled at $50^{\circ}C$, 65% RH. The experiment consisted of repeated exercise and recovery periods. We found that the higher clo value has, the higher mean skin temperature, micro climate and sweat rate show. They felt warm and wet with higher insulation clothing. Thermal comfort increased in the last recovery period after exercise. There was significant difference between five cold protective clothing. In correlation analysis of clo value, it showed that correlation coefficient(r) values were more than 0.8. Therefore, in terms of clothing insulation, we found that correlation between thermal manikin experiment and wearing trial experiment was high. Clothing insulation could be variable according to many factors such as body movement, covering area, clothing gap, layering and design. Considering the body movement, we thought that insulation measurement need to carry out both thermal manikin experiment and wearing trial experiment.
This qualitative research on women in multi-cultural families aims to analyze their clothing weight, habit, management and purchasing of clothing as well as their children's in order to provide fundamental data or literature for their adjustment in Korean clothing culture and health management. The research was conducted by interviews to eleven married foreign women with nationality of various climates, and subsequently by categorical analysis and subject analysis. The final outcome in terms of subjects included 'heating/cooling system as to environmental temperature', 'scope of climate adaptation differences in the amount of clothing', 'sleepwear and bedding' and 'clothing purchasing behaviour'. The empirical survey showed that those who came from colder regions or warmer regions had difficulties adjusting to the climate. And their clothing weight & clothing habits, originated from their home countries, were found to be kept stable and to be systematically transferred to their children as well. When it comes to sleepwear and bedding, the women seemed to be less interested in them than normal outerwear, but they tended to like to cover the belly of their babies while they didn't have sufficient nightwear for themselves. And shopping and management of clothing were another area with differences between those women and Korean ones. These results imply that further research on the multicultural families, in particular on their clothing behavior, and on changeability of the behaviour through education or through evolution is needed.

The purpose of this study was to obtain the basal information for standard amount of clothing weight indoor climate and working condition with investigating seasonal changes of skin temperature and factors influencing on that in Koreans. Forty eight subjects in 5 age groups(6-11, 12-19, 20-44, 45-64, 65-76 years old) with both sexs were measured skin temperature indoor climate clothing microclimate clothing weight and skinfold thickness in neutral condition in each month throughout the year. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Indoor climate koreans felt comfortable ranged 18.1-28.7$^{\circ}C$ and 51-74%RH. 2. Temperature inside the clothing ranged 30.8-32.3$^{\circ}C$ in males and 31.0-32.5$^{\circ}C$in females. There was a significant difference in temperature inside the clothing among age groups : That of 6019 age group was slightly higher than that at 45-76 age group. 3. Total clothing weight changed with season and increased in order of summer autumn spring and winter Total clothing weight of 65-76 age group was significantly greater on January and February. Breast skinfold thickness showed the smallest value in summer and the largest value in winter year. In addition to breast and abdomen skinfold thickness were larger in 45-67 age group while thigh skinfold thickness was larger in 6-19 age group. Skinfold thickness in females showed the smallest value in spring summer and the largest value in autumn and winter. In addition to triceps and suprailliac skinfold thickness were larger in 45-64 age group while thigh skinfold thickness was larger in 12-19 age goup. 5. Temperature of the lower limbs(hand, thigh. leg, and foot) showed significant correlation with the indoor temperature humidity inside clothing and total clothing weight. Temperature of the torso(breast and abdomen) showed significant correlation with the temperature inside clothing in all subjects. Abdomen skinfold thickness of all age group in male showed significant correlation with the abdomen skin temperature. triceps suprailliac and thigh skinfold thickness of 6-11 age group in female showed significant correation the upperarm abdomen and thigh skin temperature. Consequently clothing mdicroclimate total clothing weight and skinfold thickness showed significant difference in season sex and ages and had a slight effect on skin temperature.
The purpose of this study is to establish the suitable wearing standard under environmental thermal conditions in Pusan. The data is obtained from 50 girl students from April, 1984 to March, 1985. Items of the research are as follows : Environmental conditioni, clothing weight, contents of wearing, clothing climate, wearing order etc. RESULTS : 1. The upper clothing wights are varied considerably with temperature, while the lower are not. 2. The outdoor temperature and the total clothing weights show the high negative correlation of r=-.97 wth regression equation of Y=-37.64X+1692.66. 3. The clothing weight per clo is 390g/$m^2$. 4. Mostly, subjects were 2~7kinds of the upper and 3~5kinds of the lower clothing. 5. The clothing weights on the upper part of the body are heavier than those on the lower part of it. 6. The standard deviation of the obver clothing is larger than that of the under clothing. 7. The clothing shape of comfort-sensation reporter changes with variation of temperature. 8. The clothing climate of the inner layer is 32.26$\pm$$0.5^{\circ}C$ in temperature, 43.6$\pm$7% in humidity at four seasons. 9. It is represented that total subjects and comfort-sensation reporter control the wearing contents suitably for temperature. 10. The standard of wearing in Pusan is established as Fig. 6.

The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching-learning plans for middle school Home Economics that practices clothing life in response to climate change. Four steps of analysis, design, development, and evaluation were used for the research. 'Phenomenon and cause, impact (environmental, economic and social) and response (relaxation and adaptation)' were selected as educational content elements for climate change through reviewing the literature related to climate change. Six types of middle school Technology and Home Economics textbooks under the 2015 revised curriculum were analyzed using the selected content elements for climate change as the basis for analysis according to the data type(reading data, picture data, activity data) and clothing use cycle (production, purchase, use, and disposal). Based on the content elements of climate change in the clothing life area extracted through textbook analysis, a total of 12 teaching-learning plans in response to climate change were developed by utilizing various teaching and learning methods, data and media. The teaching-learning plans were designed based on an integrated understanding of the phenomena, causes, effects, and responses of climate change for the students to realize the seriousness of climate change and to exercise positive influence on families and society.
The actual clothing conditions were surveyed to diagnose clothing condition of collegians in the view point of adaptation to the thermal environment in fall. Then, clothing climate, physiological responses, and subjective sensation were investigated through wearing trials on human subjects in climatic chamber based on the results from the survey. Factors to evaluate validity of clothing condition were clothing weight, clothing climate, physiological responses of human body, and subjective sensation. Adaptability of this research to thermal environment was compared to the results of Toda's and Duno's of Japan, Chung's results of Korea rural area, and Winslow's clo value. The standard values for wearing trials were values at comfortable zone, such as $32{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ of temperature and $50{\pm}10%$ of humidity inside clothing, $36.5{\sim}37.3^{\circ}C$ of ear temperature and $32.2{\sim}34.3^{\circ}C$ of mean skin temperature. Clothing weight per body surface area was 680.9 $g/m^2$ in male and 526.7 $g/m^2$ in women. Cold resistance ability of collegians was superior to Japanese and American, and similar to rural male in Korea. According to the examination of clothing adaptability with clothing weight from the investigation on physiological responses and the actual clothing conditions survey, following were found. Temperature inside clothing ($29.8{\sim}32.3^{\circ}C$) was normal, and humidity inside clothing (32.2~54.8%) was at comfortable zone. Mean skin temperature was at its comfortable zone. Therefore, 615 $g/m^2$ in male and 525 $g/m^2$ in female were a desirable wearing condition.
To investigate the seasonal effects on physiological responses of human body, clothing micro-climate, and subjective sensation, selected the cloths the most frequently dressed by men in spring and fall, and completed wearing trials in the climatic chamber. The results are as follows: 1. Rectal temp. ranged 36.8-37.1$^{\circ}C$ in either spring or fall, and no seasonal effect was found. 2. In skin temp., there was no seasonal effect in forehead, abdomen, and forearm. Skin temp. of chest was higher in spring than in fall. On the contrary, reverse was true in high and leg. Average skin temp. ranged 32.2-33.2$^{\circ}C$ in spring and 32.9-34.$0^{\circ}C$ in fall. 3. Average total sweat rate of spring, 79.4g/hr, was smaller than that of fall, 110.9g/hr. 4. Clothing temp. ranged 28.1-32.8$^{\circ}C$ in spring and 27.6-31.$0^{\circ}C$ in fall. Clothing humidity ranged 36.9-48.9% in spring and 38.2-51.1% in fall. Therefore, clothing microclimate was higher during fall than during spring. As results, skin temp. of the body core except chest did not show seasonal variation, but there was obvious seasonal variation in skin temp. of the extremities. Therefore, seasonal variation should be take into consideration in the experiments related to the cloth. In addition, standard for each season and the degree of work performance should be re-established in clothing micro-climate.
