A 25-month-old patient with complete atrioventricular septal defect and Tetralogy of Fallot underwent repair of both anomalies. The diagnosis was established preoperatively by 2D-echocardiography, cardiac catheterization and cardioangiogram, Repair was accomplished using cardiopulmonary bypass and profound hypothermia to 18C, Closing of the atrioventricular septal defect was achieved with the use of two Dacron patchs by an atrial approach alone. Infundibulectomy and outflow tract reconstruction with the transannular pericadial patch containing a monocusp were performed. Upon the postoperative evaluation by 2D-echocardiography, mitral regurgitation was absent, but a tiny dehiscence of ventricular patch and minimal tricuspid regurgitation were noticed.

This paper presents a simple and robust face detection algorithm that can be utilized to video summary. We firstly apply the Illumination-compensation process for reducing the effect of brightness on the image. And then, we analyze the face region based on color in the YCbCr space to obtain the skin color. Also, we try the morphological image processing called closing algorithm to improve the detection. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our face detection algorithm that leads to 96.7 % precision ratio on average.

The market competition of express package deliveries in Korea is severe because a large number of companies have entered into the market. This study thus suggests an approach to the reconfiguration of express service networks with respect to the strategy partnership of closing/keeping service centers among companies involved and the adjustments of their cutoff times. For this we propose an integer programming model and a genetic algorithm based solution procedure for allowing companies involved to maximize their incremental profit. An illustrative numerical example is presented to demonstrate the practicality and efficiency of the proposed model.

A practical range estimator based on the robust Kalman filter is proposed to solve the range estimation problem for surface to air missile(SAM) homing guidance. Apart from the previous works based on the extended Kalman filter(EKF) with bearing only measurement, the proposed scheme makes use of line-of-sight(LOS) rate to ensure the fast convergency at long-range. In this reason, the robust Kalman filter is considered to deal with LOS rate measurement error. The recursive linear structure of proposed filter is easy to implement and make it possible to reduce computational burdens. Moreover, it shows good estimation performance without specific guidance law such as oscillation proportional navigation guidance(OPNG).

Mathematical morphology (MM) has been introduced as a powerful tool for studying the geometrical properties of images, MM is a good approach to digital image processing , which is based on the shape feature. The MM operators such as dilation, erosion, closing and opening have been applied successfully to image noise reduction. The MM filters can easily filter the noise when the noise factors are known. However it is very difficult to reduce the noise when images are ambiguous, because the boundary between the noise and object is vague. In this paper, we propose a new method to reduce noise from ambiguous images by using Fuzzy Mathematical Morphology (FMM) operators. Performance evaluation via simulations show that the FMM filters efficiently reduce the image noise. Furthermore, the FMM filters show a good performance compared with the conventional filters.

Calcaneal or calcaneovalgus deformity can occur after surgical treatment of equinus or eguinovarus deformity in cerebral palsy patient. It is a serious complication and the results of many conservative and operative treatments are reported unsatisfactory. We experienced one case of both calcaneovalgus deformity following operative treatment of diplegic equinovarus deformity in a spastic cerebral palsy patient and report about the result of the treatment.

Objective : The Dry Eye Syndrome is characterized by reduction of the stability of the tearfilm and a set of alterations of the eye surface which could relate to tear quality, normal makeup of tearfilm and alterations in blinking or regular closing of eyelids. We treated 3 patients who was suffering with severe Dry Eye Syndrome and assessed the effectiveness of Oriental Medicine in the treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome. Methods : The patients were treated by acupunture, Gi Guk Yang Hyeol-decoction(Qijuyangxie-decoction). The improvement of the symptom was judged the subjective symptoms by the change of Ocular Surface Disease Index. Result : We observed in 2 cases of the patient significant decrease in the frequency of subjective symptoms, 1 case was not treated. Conclusion: The Oriental Medicine had effective results in Dry Eye syndrome. We need to have more observation and examination of Dry Eye syndrome.

An electromyographic analysis of the buccinator muscle was undertaken, by use of surface electrode. Electromyograms were made from 30 subjects with normal dentition during various oral activity, The results were as follows; 1. No buccinator activity was elicited during slowly opening and closing the mouth. 2. The majority of subjects showed buccinator activity while biting hard, protracting the mandible, and retracting the mandible. 3. The buccinator muscle was found to be markedly and consistently active during swallowing, blowing, sucking and masticating. 4. The buccinator activity during pulling the lips against the teeth was of equal potential with pulling the lips laterally. 5. The buccinator muscle on the working side was more active than the buccinator muscle on the balancing side.

The adsorptions of trimethygallium (TMG) and arsine (As$H_3$) on H/Si(100)-2x1 surface were theoretically investigated. In the case of TMG adsorption, methane loss reaction, surface methylation, hydrogen loss reaction and ring closing reaction channels were found. The mechanism of As$H_3$ adsorption on the surface was also identified. Among these, the methane loss reaction depositing –Ga(C$H_3)_2$ was found to be the major channel due to its low barrier height and the large exothermicity. The surface methylation reaction is the second most favorable channel. In contrast, arsine turned out to be less reactive on the surface, implying that Arsine surface reaction would be the rate limiting step in the overall ALD process.

The velopharynx is a tridimensional muscular valve located between the oral and nasal cavities, consisting of the lateral and posterior pharyngeal walls and the soft palate, and controls the passage of air. Velopharyngeal insufficiency may take place when the velopharyngeal valve is unable to perform its own closing, due to a lack of tissue or lack of proper movement. Treatment options include surgical correction, prosthetic rehabilitation, and speech therapy; though optimal results often require a multidisciplinary approach for the restoration of both anatomical and physiological defect. We report a case of 56 year old male patient presenting with hypernasal speech pattern and velopharyngeal insufficiency secondary to cleft palate which had been surgically corrected 18 years ago. The patient was treated with a combination of speech therapy and palatal lift prosthesis employing interim prostheses in various phases before the insertion of definitive appliance. This phase-wise treatment plan helped to improve patient's compliance and final outcome.
