  • We propose a novel nanomaterial-based pn diode which constructed with an n-type ZnO nanowire (NW) and a p-type HgTe nanoparticle (NP) thin film. The photo current characteristics of a ZnO NW, a HgTe NP thin film and pn diode constructed with a ZnO NW and a HgTe NP thin film were investigated under illumination of the 325 nm and 633 nm wavelength light. The conductivities of a ZnO NW exposed to the 325 nm and 633 nm wavelength light increased, while the photocurrents taken from the HgTe NP thin film was very close to the dark currents. Moreover, The pn diode exhibited the rectifying characteristics of the dark current and of the photocurrent excited by the 633 nm wavelength light. In contrast, the ohmic characteristics for the photocurrent were observed due to the junction barrier lowering in the conduction band of the ZnO nanowire under the illumination of the 325 nm wavelength light.

  • We extend our previous theoretical analysis of electronic and optical properties of p-type quantum well structures based on the two heavy- and light-hole system to include all the three valence bands. These theories are then used to clarify the origin of the normal incidence absorption and photo current at photon wavelengths of 2 - 3 ${\mu}m$, which was observed in addition to the absorption around 8 ${\mu}m$ by a recent experimental investigation with heavily doped p-type GaAs/AlGaAs multi-quantum well (MQW) structures. In the theoretical analysis, the Hartree and exchange-correlation many-body interactions are taken into account within one-particle local density approximation, and it is shown that normal incidence absorption occurs in two wavelength regions over the transition energy range higher than barrier height for p-type GaAs/AlGaAs superlattices with well doping of $2{\times}10^{19}\;cm^{-3}$; one region has broad absorption peaks with coefficients of about 5000 $cm^{-1}$ around 8 ${\mu}m$, and the other has two rather sharp peaks at 2.7 ${\mu}m$ and 3.4 ${\mu}m$ with 1800 $cm^{-1}$ and 1300 $cm^{-1}$, respectively. The result indicates that the theory explains the experimental observation well, as the theoretical and experimental results are in close agreement in general absorption features.

  • In this paper, a flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) integrated with a voltage-controlled voltage source inverter(VC-VSI) is proposed. The suggested equipment, which consists of a flux-lock type SFCL and a VCVSI, can perform the fault current limiting operation from the occurrence of a short-circuit. In addition, it can compensate the reactive power that the non-linear load requires and also perform the uninterruptible power supply(UPS) as well as the load voltage stabilization by controlling the amplitude and the phase of the inverter's output voltage. The specification for a test model was determined and its various functions such as the fault current limiting and the power conditioning operations were presented and analyzed via computer simulation. Through the analytical results based on the computer simulation, the validity of the analysis was confirmed and its multi-operation was discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Internet education on plasma glucose and serum lipids in female type 2 diabetic patients. Method: Control and experimental groups were assessed by a pre-test and at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. Fourteen patients were assigned randomly to an intervention group and 15 to a control group. Patients in the intervention group were requested to input their blood glucose levels everyday by cellular phone or wire Internet for 1 year. The goal of the intervention was to keep blood glucose concentrations close to the normal range (glycosylated hemoglobin, HbA1c<7%). An intervention was applied to the intervention group weekly for 1 year. Optimal recommendations were sent weekly by a short message service from a cellular phone and wire Internet. Results: Patients in the intervention group had a significant mean change in HbA1c, from 7.6% at pre-test to 6.9%, at 3 months and equalized at 6.7% at 12 months. There was no significant time and group differences observed in the serum lipids. Conclusion: These findings indicate that Internet education would improve and maintain the normal range of HbA1c in female type 2 diabetic patients.

  • The most researches developing pattern of compression style sportswear were targeted at the live model that has muscular body build. The purpose of this study was developing a method for classifying men's lower body types in terms of muscular body build. The 3D human body scan data and body measurements of 30s of Size Korea were analyzed. The subjects (n=203) were men between the ages of 30 and 39 years. Men's muscular body build was classified with two key dimensions, thigh girth and calf girth. The subjects were divided into four groups. From each group, average subjects (n=42) whose height and weight were close to the mean value ($mean{\pm}1/2$ S.D.) were selected. 42 subjects were divided up as four groups. Group I (n=7) was thigh and calf developed body type. Group II (n=9) was thigh developed body type. Group III (n=11) was calf developed body type. Group IV (n=15) was thigh and calf undeveloped body type. Four groups had distinct different at widths (n=4), depths (n=4), and girths (n=9) dimensions. The results showed that the muscular men in their 30s could be defined by thigh and calf girths. The thigh developed muscular men had thigh girth over 60cm and the calf developed muscular men had calf girth over 38cm. From each group one representative was selected by 3D body scan figure.

  • An experimental study was carried out to determine pullout behavior of a new type of anchor bolt that used deformed reinforcement and a commercial adhesive. Concrete slabs and columns with about 20-MPa compressive strength were used for 136 pullout tests performed. Test variables included anchor diameter (10 mm ~ 32 mm). embedment depth (10$\Phi$ or 15$\Phi$), edge effect. and Presence of transverse reinforcement in existing concrete. In Tyre-S test. where the edge or reinforcing steel effect was not included, the anchor Pullout strengths increased with increasing anchor diameters. Anchors with 15$\Phi$ embedment depth had higher Pullout strengths than those with 100 embedment depth The largest average Pullout load of 208 kN was determined for anchors made with D25 reinforcement and with 15$\Phi$ embedment depth. In Type-E tests, where the anchors were installed close to the edge of existing concrete, there were reductions in pullout strengths when compared to those determined in Type-S tests. In Type-ER tests, influence of the reinforcement in existing concrete on the anchor pullout strengths was examined using reinforced concrete and plain concrete columns Test results indicated that existing transverse reinforcement (column ties) did not help increase the pullout strength. The overall pullout test results revealed that the new anchor bolt can develop large pullout strengths while the anchors can be made of materials that are readily available in the market.

  • This research is an illustrative research to verify the thermo environmental change created after introduction of indoor pond through abridged model test and simulation analysis. Especially, temperature and comfort level are analyzed by adjusting factors like size of water space, distance length, and location. Summary of the research is as follows. First, the most effective size of water space is 7% of the indoor size, from southern side. Temperature reduction effect is about $1.6^{\circ}C$(5.5%), and for the comfort level, it is found that pmv index increases 8%. Second, based on the simulation of distance length with the sphere, it is more effective as it is close to the surface. If distance length is more than 0.5m, there is no effect on reduction of temperature and comfort level of indoor environment. Lastly, for the analysis by location of the introduced water space, simulation is undertaken by dividing the water space (14% of the indoor size) with front, side, rear and center types. Temperature reduction effect is found to be : front type ($-1.53^{\circ}C$), side type ($-0.82^{\circ}C$), rear type ($-0.44^{\circ}C$), center type ($-0.28^{\circ}C$), respectively. The indoor environment change data by introduction of water space, found in this research, is at initial phase, but it is deemed to be a basic data to refer when planning actual water space.

  • A pollen morphological study was conducted using light and scanning electron microscopy involving six species belonging to the subtribe Neoguillauminiinae. Pollen samples from the six species are tricolporate, and the colpi are surrounded by broad margo, with the widest width in the equator, narrower toward the pole, and rounded at the end. Based on the pollen morphology, pollen of the species in the subtribe Neoguillauminiinae were divided into four types: the Neoguillauminia type (T1), the C. collinus type (T2), the C. casuarinoides type (T3) and the C. paucifolius type (T4). The generic divergence between Neoguillauminia and Calycopeplus was supported by the pollen characters of the size, amb and lumina shape. In particular, the traits of rounded shape in the outline of the polar view and circular lumina, which appear only in the pollen grains of N. cleopatra, support the recognition of Neoguillauminia as a monotypic genus. Calycopeplus oligandrus and C. paucifolius had the same reticulate pattern of pollen grains, supporting Forster's hypothesis that these two species are closely related. On the other hand, the close relationship between the morphologically similar C. collinus and C. casuarinoides was not supported by the pollen characters. Within the subtribe there are two equally parsimonious hypotheses regarding the evolution of exine characters. The first consists of two changes of microreticulate through parallel evolution from the primitive reticulate exine, and the second is that the microreticulate pattern is differentiated from the reticulate state and then reversed to reticulate pollen grains.
