Time Courses of pCREB Expression after Dopaminergic Stimulation by Apomorphine in Mouse Brain

  • Administration of dopamine agonist, apomorphine (2 mg/kg, s.c.), produces cage climbing behavior in mice that exhibit typical dopaminergic stimulation. The present study investigated the pCREB expression level in several brain regions following apomorphine treatment in order to determine whether the increased the dopaminergic activation produced by apomorphine accompanies the changes in pCREB immunoreactivity. A mouse brain was removed at 0min, 10 min, 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 7 h, and 24 h after apomorphine treatment. The brain tissue was fixed by an intracardiac perfusion with ice-cold 4% paraformaldehyde in PBS. Immunohistochemical study was conducted using the ABC-DAB method. The data showed that the immunoreactivity of pCREB increased in the striatum, nucleus-accumbens, piriform cortex and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus of a mouse brain 30 min after the apomorphine treatment. Increased immunoreactivity began to diminish 2 h after the apomorphine treatment in all the brain regions measured. The time course for the pCREB immunoreactivity was similar to the behavioral response induced by the apomorphine treatment. These results suggest that activation of the dopamine receptor is accompanied by an increase in pCREB expression in the mouse brain.

  • Actually mixed assembly line is mixed with open and close type workstation. This workstation is called hybridworkstation. The propose of this paper is to determine the sequencing of model that minimize line length for actual(hybridworkstation) mixed model assembly line. we developed three mathematical formulation of the problem to minimize the overall length of a line with hybrid station. Mathematical formulation classified model by operato schedule. Mixed model assembly line is combination program and NP-hard program. Thus computation time is often a critical factor in choosing a method of determining the sequence. This study suggests a tabu search technique which can provide a near optimal solution in real time and use the hill climbing heuristic method for selecting initial solution. Modified tabu search method is compared with MIP(Mixed Integer Program). Numerical results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the method.

  • This paper proposes new cost error measurement method and analyzes the optimistic and pessimistic cost errors statistically which is resulted from an asynchronous parallel Simulated annealing (SA) in distributed memory multicomputers. The traditional cost error measurement scheme has inherent problems which are corrected in the new method. At each temperature the new method predicts the amount of cost error that an algorithm will tolerate and still converge by the hill-climbing nature of SA. This method also explains three interesting phenomenon of he cost error analytically. So the new cost error measurement method provides a single mechanism for the occurrence of cost error and its control.

  • The Observational Method proposed by Terzaghi can be applied for the safe and economic construction projects where the exact prediction of the behavior of the structures is difficult as in the underground excavation. The method consists of measuring lateral displacement, ground settlement and axial force of supports in the earlier stage of the construction and back analysis technique to find the best fit design parameters such as earth pressure coefficient, subgrade reaction etc, which will minimize the gap between calculated displacement and measured displacement. With the results, more reliable prediction of the later stage can be obtained. In this study, back analysis programs using the Direct Method, based on the Hill Climbing Method were made and evaluated, and to overcome the limits of the method, Genetic Algorithm(GA) was applied and tested for the actual construction cases.

A Comparative Study of Item Difficulty Hierarchy of Self-Reported Activity Measure Versus Metabolic Equivalent of Tasks

  • The purposes of this study were: 1) to show the item difficulty hierarchy of walking/moving construct of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health-Activity Measure (ICF-AM), 2) to evaluate the item-level psychometrics for model fit, 3) to describe the relevant physical activity defined by level of activity intensity expressed as Metabolic Equivalent of Tasks (MET), and 4) to explore what extent the empirical activity hierarchy of the ICF-AM is linked to the conceptual model based on the level of energy expenditure described as MET. One hundred and eight participants with lower extremity impairments were examined for the present study. A newly created activity measure, the ICF-AM using an item response theory (IRT) model and computer adaptive testing (CAT) method, has a construct on walking/moving construct. Based on the ICF category of walking and moving, the instrument comprised items corresponding to: walking short distances, walking long distances, walking on different surfaces, walking around objects, climbing, and running. The item difficulty hierarchy was created using Winstep software for 20 items. The Rasch analyses (1-parameter IRT model) were performed on participants with lower extremity injuries who completed the paper and pencil version of walking/moving construct of the ICF-AM. The classification of physical activity can also be performed by the use of METs that is often preferred to determine the level of physical activity. The empirical item hierarchy of walking, climbing, running activities of the ICF-AM instrument was similar to the conceptual activity hierarchy based on the METs. The empirically derived item difficulty hierarchy of the ICF-AM may be useful in developing MET-based activity measure questionnaires. In addition to convenience of applying items to questionnaires, implications of the finding could lead to the use of CAT method without sacrificing the objectivity of physiologic measures.

  • 본 논문에서는 인체의 활동량을 측정하기 위해 가속도 센서로 부터 얻은 운동신호를 파라미터로 모델링 하는 방법을 제안한다. 상체와 하체의 움직임이 동시에 일어나지 않는 경우, 현재의 단체널 방식의 운동량 분석방법은 많은 오차를 수반하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 3축 가속도 센서를 팔과 다리에 부착하고 인체의 활동을 측정한 후, 각 채널 별로 팔과 다리의 운동량을 계산하고, 채널별로 선형예측계수를 얻는다. 또한, 상체와 하체운동간의 교차상관도를 측정함으로써 상체와 하체의 주기성을 판단하게 된다. 선형예측계수와 주기 값은 운동의 종류와 이에 따른 운동량을 측정하는 자료로 이용하게 된다. 결과에서 제안한 방법의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 계단내려가기, 계단오르기, 언덕오르기, 언덕내려가기 등의 4가지 운동을 측정하여, 제시한 파라미터 모델의 유용성을 확인한다.

Analysis of step climbing and descending by tandem wheelchairs connected by passive link

  • This paper describes a new cooperative strategy for two wheelchairs to climb a step. These two wheelchairrobots are connected with a simple linkage mechanism between the rear of one wheelchair and the front of another. Two wheelchair robots climb a step one after the other. In this research, We did not use a method by Which a robot lifts up and supports its weight using any special actuator but a method of handling the robot's moment of rotation by the force of the link which come from the assisting robot. This method is especially influenced by the height of the two robot's link positions. So we study this method from the viewpoint of changing the two-link positions....

  • A mobile robot in a nuclear power plant is usually needed to equip the ability of going up and down stairs for a some kind of inspection. For this purpose, it is necessary for the mobile robot to figure out the size of stairs laid on a navigation path to gurantee robot's moving freely. In this paper, to measure the size of stairs existing in front of a mobile robot we designed the stair size recognition unit which can measure the stair's height and width using an ultrasonic sensor and/or a CCD camera. Also to obtain higher reliability of ultrasonic sensing data we proposed the horizontal sensing method. On the assupmtions that the mobile robot generates a trajectory while ascending stairs, we simulated it on a IBM compatible computer. The result showed that the suggested method satisfied our purpose. In a stair size estimation, the detected stair's height error was about .+-.3mm, and width was about .+-.5mm.

  • This paper presents a maximum power point tracking algorithm for Photovoltaic array using only instantaneous output current information. The conventional Hill climbing method of peak power tracking has a disadvantage of oscillations about the maximum power point. To overcome this problem, we have developed a algorithm, that will estimate the duty ratio corresponding to maximum power operation of solar cell. The estimation of the optimal duty ratio involves, finding the duty ratio at which integral value of output current is maximum. For the estimation, we have used the well know Lagrange's interpolation method. This method can track maximum power point quickly even for changing solar insolations and avoids oscillations after reaching the maximum power point.

Structural Work Duration Estimation and Analysis of Tower-Type Residential Construction Project

  • In order to shorten construction duration in high-rise project, construction company tried to make various system method toward simplifying construction method and shortening construction duration. Though high-rise tower-type residential project are growing, there are few case study. Then, the data for preliminary schedule planning in high-rise tower-type residential project are rare. This purpose of research shows construction method in structural work in high-rise tower-type residential project, suggests schedule planning in structural work through case studies. The structural work in high-rise tower-type residential project was divided 1) completion of form in lower part and 2) the typical floor under penthouse. The statistical analysis were done in two parts, the data from analysis were used in simulation. Finally, researcher confirmed the difference between real construction duration and the figure from simulation. The results shows that the more construction duration is long, the less ACS's cost is low. It means the effectiveness is increasing in ACS, if the floor number is high.
