소규모 발전용 스크롤 팽창기 성능시험 (Performance Test of Scroll Expander for Micro-Power Generation)

  • This paper addresses the development of a scroll expander for power generation from relatively low temperature steam source. It has a double-sided orbiting scroll member so that no thrust bearing is needed to support the base plate of the orbiting scroll. Three power transmission shafts are placed at the periphery of the orbiting scroll base plate, and these shafts can also function as anti-rotation devices. Final output is obtained from the main central shaft engaged with the three power transmission shafts through gear assembly. The clearance between the fixed and orbiting scroll elements was estimated by comparing measurement of the mass flow rate with calculation results of a computer simulation. Due to large clearance, the expander total and volumetric efficiencies were measured to be $34\%\;and\;43\%$, respectively. It has been shown through the computer simulation that the total and volumetric efficiencies could be improved to $65\%\;and\;83\%$, respectively, if the current clearance is reduced by half.

터보펌프 터빈의 로터 팁 형상에 따른 성능변화 연구 (The Effect of Rotor Tip Geometry on the Performance of Turbopump Turbine)

  • 터번로터 팁 형상의 변화에 따른 터보펌프 터빈의 성능변화에 대하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 한국항공우주연구원에서 개발중인 30톤급 터보펌프용에 장착된 초음속 충동형 터빈을 기본 모델로 하여 터번로터 슈라우드 유무 및 팁간극 크기에 따른 터빈성능변화를 측정 비교하였으며, 이와 더불어 노즐-로터 오버랩에 따른 터빈성능 변화 연구도 함께 이루어졌다. 시험 수행 결과, 로터 슈라우드 유무에 따라 터빈성능의 절대량은 크게 변화하나 팁간극의 변화에 따른 터빈효율의 민감도는 초음속 충동형 터빈의 경우 고효율 아음속터빈에 비해 크게 작은 것으로 나타났다. 아울러, 최적 효율을 나타내는 노즐-로터 오버랩 값이 존재하는 것을 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

Immersed Solid Method 를 이용한 외접형 기어 펌프의 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of External Gear Pump Using Immersed Solid Method)

  • 본 연구는 고속 회전형(~10,000 rpm) 기어펌프의 질량유량과 효율을 예측하기 위해서 2 차원 immersed solid method(ISM)를 이용한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 기어펌프와 하우징의 순환유동을 고려하기 위하여 유체 유동을 난류 유동으로 가정하였고, 기어 펌프의 입 출구의 일정 압력 조건하에 기어펌프의 회전 속도를 부가하였다. 기어펌프의 다양한 회전 속도 및 기어 끝 단과 하우징 사의의 서로 다른 간극에 대한 질량유량 및 효율을 검토하였다. 해석 결과로서, 회전 속도가 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 증가하였고, 기어펌프와 하우징의 간격이 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 감소하였다. 간격이 없는 조건하의 6,000 rpm, 8,000 rpm, 10,000 rpm 회전속도에의 효율은 각각 85.11 %, 90.94 %, 93.62 % 를 얻었고, 간격이 0 m, 0.00001 m, 0.00003 m 에 대해서 효율은 각각 93.62 %, 93.29 %, 92.74 % 를 얻었다.

클러치 드래그 토크에 미치는 마찰재 면적 및 클리어런스의 영향 (Effects of Friction Plate Area and Clearance on the Drag Torque in a Wet Clutch for an Automatic Transmission)

  • The reduction of drag torque is an important research issue in terms of improving transmission efficiency. Drag torque in a wet clutch occurs because of the viscous drag generated by the transmission fluid in a narrow gap (clearance) between the friction plate and a separate plate. The objective of this paper is to observe the effects of the friction plate area and the clearance on the drag torque using finite element simulation. The two-phase flow of air and oil fluid is considered and modeled for the simulation. The simulation analysis reveals that as the rotational speed increases, the drag torque generally increases to a critical point and then decreases sharply at a high speed regime. The clearance between the two plates plays an important role in controlling drag torque peak. An increase in the clearance causes a decrease in shear stress; thus, the drag torque also decreases according to Newton's law of viscosity. An observation of the effect of the area of contact between transmission fluid and friction plate shows that the drag torque increases with the contact area. The flow vectors inside the flow channel present clear evidence that the velocity of the fluid flows is faster with a larger friction plate, that is, in the case of a larger contact area. Therefore, the optimum size of the friction plate should be determined carefully, considering both the clutch performance and drag reduction. It is expected that the results from this study can be very useful as a database for clutch design and to predict the drag torque for the initial design with respect to various clutch parameters.

Safety Analysis of Concrete Treatment Workers in Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plant

  • Nuclear power plant decommissioning generates significant concrete waste, which is slightly contaminated, and expected to be classified as clearance concrete waste. Clearance concrete waste is generally crushed into rubble at the site or a satellite treatment facility for practical disposal purposes. During the process, workers are exposed to radiation from the nuclides in concrete waste. The treatment processes consist of concrete cutting/crushing, transportation, and loading/unloading. Workers' radiation exposure during the process was systematically studied. A shielding package comprising a cylindrical and hexahedron structure was considered to reduce workers' radiation exposure, and improved the treatment process's efficiency. The shielding package's effect on workers' radiation exposure during the cutting and crushing process was also studied. The calculated annual radiation exposure of concrete treatment workers was below 1 mSv, which is the annual radiation exposure limit for members of the public. It was also found that workers involved in cutting and crushing were exposed the most.

리어가이더 선단각도에 따른 룸에어콘용 관류홴의 공력성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Aerodynamic Performance of a Cross-Flow Fan for the Various Leading Angles of a Rear-Guider for a Room Air-Conditioner)

  • Generally, the chassis of an indoor RAC is composed of a rear-guider and a stabilizer. The aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan is strongly influenced by the various design factors of the chassis of an indoor RAC. The purpose of this paper is to select the optimum design factors through the aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan. The design factors are the leading angle of a rear-guider (${\theta}_1$), a stabilizer setup angle(${\theta}_2$), a rear-guider clearance(${\epsilon}_1$), and a stabilizer clearance(${\epsilon}_2$), respectively. As a result, the optimum design factors of an indoor RAC can be presented as a combination of ${\theta}_1=33^{\circ}$, ${\theta}_2=55^{\circ}$, ${\epsilon}_1=6{\sim}8mm$, and ${\epsilon}_2=7mm$ through the analysis of a static pressure coefficient and a static pressure efficiency.

  • This paper presents the deformation characteristics of the moving pressure plate in a balanced type vane pump that widely used automotive power steering systems. Moving pressure plate can control the clearance between rotor and plate in accordance with load pressure variation; it always guarantees that pump to have optimal volumetric efficiency. In this paper, firstly, we calculate the acting force on the pressure plate, which is used to determine the angular position and load condition for analyzing the deformation of pressure plate. Secondary, finite element method is used for the deformation analysis. As results of acting force analysis, it is found that maximum difference of forces occurs at angular position 28$\circ$ from the small arc center of cam ring and load pressure is a dominant factor to affect acting force variation. The deformation of pressure plate increases as load pressure increases. At high load pressure, the deformation of pressure plate becomes larger than the initial clearance between rotor and plate. Therefore, it is required to design the plate for controlling the deformation.

A study on the performance and internal flow of inline Francis turbine

  • This paper presents the performance characteristic of a Francis hydro turbine with an inline casing. This turbine is designed for city water supply system. Due to large changes in ground elevation with high points and low points, some systems may experience larger-than-normal required pressures in areas with low ground elevations. One way to dissipate these excess pressures is by the use of an inline-turbine instead of an inline-pressure reducing valve. For best applicability and minimal space consumption, the turbine is designed with an inline casing instead of the common spiral casing. As a characteristic of inline casing, the flow accesses to the runner in the radial direction, showing a low efficiency. The installation of vanes improves the internal flow and gives the positive encouragement to the output power. For the power transmission to the outside of the turbine casing from the runner axis, a belt passage is designed in the inline casing, as its influence, the region after the belt passage shows a relatively low output power. The clearance gap in the runner side space is considered, in which a small volume of flow is contracted into the clearance gap, forming the leakage flow. The leakage flow leads to a decrease in the efficiency.

대기행렬 소거시간을 고려한 회전교차로 실시간 신호미터링 운영 연구 (A Study on Real Time Signal Metering Operation at Roundabouts by Considering Queue Clearance Time)

  • 회전교차로(Roundabouts)는 비교적 교통량과 보행자가 적은 교차로에 신호등 없이 설치되어 원형교통섬을 한 방향으로 회전하여 통행하는 비신호 교차로이다. 회전교차로 설치이후 비정상적인 교통수요 발생 및 보행량 증가 시 운영효율성 감소에 따른 대처방안으로 회전교차로 신호미터링(Signal Metering)에 대한 연구가 다수 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 신호미터링 운영 알고리즘(Algorithm)은 양보선과 검지기간 사각지대 및 회전차로에 존재하는 차량의 대기행렬을 고려하지 못하는 단점이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대기행렬 소거시간(Queue Clearance Time)을 고려한 실시간 회전교차로 신호미터링 운영 알고리즘을 제시하고 VISSIM의 Com-Interface를 활용하여 그 효과를 분석하였다. 분석결과 총 진입교통량 3,200~4,800대/시에 대기행렬 소거시간 21~50초를 적용 시 차량 당 평균지체가 16.1~71.7%까지 크게 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다.

소형 기어펌프 최적화 설계를 위한 유동해석 (Flow Analysis for Optimal Design of Small Gear Pump)

  • 기어펌프는 단순한 구조를 가지면서도 신뢰성이 높고 작동과 유지가 쉽기 때문에 수력학 장치에 널리 사용된다. 일반적으로 기어펌프는 질량유량과 효율을 고려한 다양한 변수에 의해 설계된다. 본 연구에서는 기어펌프의 최적화 설계를 위해 ANSYS v15.0 CFX 상용프로그램을 사용한 3차원 유동해석을 실시하고 해석결과로부터 설계변수를 선정하도록 하였다. 즉, 기어펌프의 다양한 회전 속도 및 기어 끝단과 하우징 사이의 간극에 대한 질량유량 및 효율을 검토하였으며, 해석 결과로서, 회전 속도가 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 증가하였고, 기어펌프와 하우징의 간격이 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 감소하였다.
