  • External treatments have various curative effects. According to the existing researches, We have read that many external treatments have been related to obstertic and gynecologic diseases. But systemic description is very rare about external treatment of obstertic and gynecologic diseases. Therefore we would like to describe that. We have found out many sentences that have been related to external treatments about genital organic diseases disease. Comparatively often had been refered diseases are Uterine Prolapse(陰脫), Erosion of Vulva(陰瘡), Puritus Vulvae(陰痒), Mass in Abdomen and Coldness of Genitals(陰冷).

"동의보감(東醫寶鑑)"처방(處方) 중(中) 강삼조이(薑三棗二)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Review on Two Fructus Jujubae & Three Rhizoma Zingiberis Rencns in Prescription of "Dongeuibogam")

  • Two Fructus Jujubae & three Rhizoma Zingiberis Rencns are usually used in parts of prescriptions in oriental medicine. In "Dongeuibogam", those are prescribed as drugs. However, those are not exactly same with original books, which "Dongeuibogam" had quoted. In original books, those are sometimes mentioned just as 'Fructus Jujubae & Rhizoma Zingiberis' or different amount of them. Therefore, authors try to compare with "Dongeuibogam" and its original books to find out the reason of discordance. As a result, we could conclude that Two jujubes & three pieces of ginger are more commonly prescribed than original books and are fixed to use more conveniently and to give standard for doctor.

  • Acupuncture list of "Hangyakjipseongbang" had written based on "Zhenjiuzishengjing". However, there are only 258 acupuncture points instead of 364 full points. In the text, there are 8 prohibited points for moxibustion and 7 prohibited points for acupuncture. Also there are rules about depth & period of acupuncturing, about careful selecting of points for children and the pregnants and about the methods of acupuncturing by using supplementation and draining.

  • Objective : Ancestral qi and vitality qi are the most significant qi in lung and heart. However, the origins and functions of those qi are not quite detailed somehow. Method : I will try to find out the origins and functions of ancestral qi and vitality qi through "Hwangdineijing". Result : The ancestral qi is the essence of lung and the vitality qi is the essence of heart. Conclusion : The function of ancestral qi is what puts nutrient qi and defence qi into meridians to make them being rightways of meridians and those of vitality qi is what pushes ahead nutrient qi and defence qi through meridians.

  • Objective : One of the characteristics of "Dongeuibogam" is that there are citation records at the end of quotations. Therefore, each pharagraph and formula in "Dongeuibogam" has citation records. In this article, authors try to review on the way of those citation records. Method : Comparing citation records of formulae-names with citation records of formulae-explanations. Result : On one side, citation records of formulae-names and citation records of formulae-explanations are not same. Conclusion : There are no regular rules in the way of citation records in "Dongeuibogam".

포(胞)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Review on bao(胞))

  • Objective : The using of termionology in medicine is important because terminology discriminates the meaning of words. In that aspect, there are conflicts that bao has plenty of meanings as medical terminology(womb and urinary bladder). Therefor, we need to discriminate and define bao. Method : We compare terminology of bao and words related with bao such as pao(胞) in "Dongeuibogam", "Hwangdineijing" and medical dictionary. Also we try to define right meaning of words as medical terminology. Result : Bao has several meanings in medical books. However, they have tendencies that could make scholars choose appropriate terminology in medicine. Conclusion : Bao is preferred as a womb and pao is prefferd as a urinary bladder in medical terminology.

"향약집성방(鄕藥集成方)" 인용서(引用書)인 "집성(集成)"에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Study on "Jipseong" quotated in "Hyangyakjipseongbang" - Based on the traditional medical classic -)

  • Objective : In "Hyangyakjipseongbang" there are quotation remark as "Jipseong", that means "Hyangyakjipseongbang" because this is self-quotation. The contents of "Jipseong" that "Hyangyakjipseongbang" mentioned are in "Yifangjicheng". So "Jipseong" means abbreviation of "Yifangjicheng" and "Jipseong" should be "Jicheng". Method : We will try to do bibliographical methods on "Jicheng" and the books related to "Jicheng" through "Isekigo", "Zhongyiyijidacidian" and "Zhongguoyijitongkao". Result : "Yifangjicheng" is not handed down but the contents of that are in "Yifangdacheng". There are three differnt types(authors) of "Yifangdacheng". One of "Yifangdacheng" was enlarged to "Yifangdacheng". In "Euibangyoochui" there are several qutations such as "Yifangdacheng", "Yishudadian", "Nanbeijingxianfang", "Yongleilingfang" ralated to "Yifangjicheng". Conclusion : "Jipseong" mean "Yifangjicheng" instead of "Hyangyakjipseongbang" and there are some kinds of books related to the similar contents of "Jicheng".

당대 이전의 오심 증상 표현 (Literal expression of nausea in medical classics written until Tang dynasty)

  • Objective : Osim((惡心) stands for nausea which usually precede vomiting(嘔吐). Although it is very common symptom, we can't find the word Osim in some ancient classics. So we tried to find when it had appeared, and what had been its substitute in former medical classics. Material and Methods : The digitalized text in Zhonghuayidian(中華醫典) was used for text search. The text search was performed chronologically. Results : We found that there had been yokto(欲吐), yokgu(欲嘔), geongu(乾嘔), beon(煩), beonsim (煩心), simbeon(心煩), min(悶), ongi(溫氣) as the precedent expression of osim(惡心), which had appeared in Jebyungwonhuron(諸病源候論, 610) for the first time. Conclusion : Until Tang dynasty, there had been kinds of alternative expressions correspond to osim(nausea).

  • This study is on Yoshimasu Todo's thought of medicines. Conclusions are as below. Medicines are poisons. Therefore, they don't have the ability to restore the vital energy. Medicine-processing(法製) can only be done for doubling the toxicity, since the poison itself is the very effect of a medicine. One poison has an ability to treat only one main symptom. If the poison strikes the main symptom right, it doesn't harm the human body. Since warm-heat-cool-cold(溫熱凉寒) of a medicine can't be known by human ability, it can't be used as the standard of judgment when selecting a medicine.

  • Conceptions about functions of large & small intestine[LI & SI] were focused on the vermiculation in "Somun(素問) Yeongranbijeonron(靈蘭秘典論)". However, functions of large & small intestine includes more. In Oriental Medicine, there are sentences in "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)" "LI manages Fluid [津] and SI manages Humor[液]" It means that LI & SI have an each role in digestion besides vermiculation. In that reason, we try to find out the meaning of the functions of LI and SI in digestion through bibliographic review. As a result, LI and SI have a digestic function by Separating the Clear which includes Fluids and Humor and the Turbid which is relatively useless to the Clear.
