고속 주축에서 클램핑력 및 회전수 변화에 따른 주축 인터페이스 접촉률 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Contact Interval in the Main Spindle Interface of High Speed Spindle according to Variation of Clamping Force and Rotational Speed)

  • High speed machining has become the main issue of metal cutting. Due to increase of the rotational speed of the spindle, problems, such as the run-out errors, reduced stiffness, must be overcome to improve the machining accuracy. In order to solve the problems, it is important to determine the appropriate clamping unit and tooling system. This paper presents an investigation into an evaluation of contact interval which is the interface between spindle taper hole and tool holder shank of the spindle. Finite element analysis is performed by using a commercial code ANSYS according to variation of clamping forces and rotational speeds. This paper proposed fit tolerance in order to evaluate the effects of clamping force and rotational speed on the contact interval in the spindle interface. From the finite element results, it has been shown that the rotational speed rather than clamping force mostly influence on the variation of the contact interval.

  • A self-climbing crane (SCC) system is under development for the installation and maintenance of wind turbines. It can move vertically along the wind turbine tower by itself. One of the key components of the SCC system is the clamping pad to maintain a safe position on the wind turbine tower. The SCC system can maintain its position on the tower from the frictional force generated between the surfaces of the clamping pads and the tower. If the frictional force provided by the clamping pads are insufficient, the SCC system cannot stay in the vertical position on the tower. Therefore, the development of clamping pads with sufficient frictional force is very important for the SCC system. At the same time, the operation of the SCC system should not damage the paint coating of the wind turbine tower. In order to verify that the frictional force is sufficient and that frictional and compressive forces do not cause damage to the paint, a number of combined compression and shear loading tests were conducted using a test device prepared for this study. The details regarding the test specimens, test procedure, and test results are summarized in this paper.

볼트 체결력 측정을 위해 제안한 커브피팅 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (Study on The Suggested Curve Fitting Algorithm for Bolt Clamping Force Measurement)

  • 정확한 토크 체결력을 제공하기 위하여 토크 측정기는 최소자승이 적용된 커브피팅 알고리즘을 사용한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 보정 최소자승 커브피팅 알고리즘은 토크 정밀 측정을 사용하는 다양한 산업분야에서 볼트와 너트에 향상된 체결력을 제공할 수 있다. 먼저, 제안한 알고리즘에 대한 수학적 모델을 소개하고, 제안한 알고리즘을 시뮬레이션하여 기존 알고리즘과 그 결과를 비교하였다. 보정된 최소자승 알고리즘은 기존의 토크 측정에 사용되었던 알고리즘보다 낮은 표준 오차 값을 보임으로써 제안한 보정된 최소자승 알고리즘의 성능의 정확성을 증명한다. 따라서, 본 알고리즘을 토크 계측에 적용함으로써 정밀 산업기계 및 전자부품 그리고 기타 항공기, 우주선등 나사의 조임 체결력이 적용되는 산업분야에 적용함으로써 비용 및 안전성 향상에 기여될 것을 예상한다.

블라인드 리벳 너트 체결 적합성에 관한 연구 (Accurate Fastening of Blind Rivet Nuts: A Study)

  • Blind rivet nuts (BRNs) are increasingly used in automotive industry because unlike conventional bolt fastening, BRN fastening requires access from one side only. Generally, fastening is conducted using automated units, but manual fastening may be resorted to in case of small quantities. Since the fastening direction is not exactly perpendicular to the sheet metal, the BRN axis is tilted with respect to the plate and may result in damage or incomplete fastening. As the tilt angle (clamping angle α) increases, undesired plate deformation occurs and the contact area of the plate with the BRN fastening area decreases, reducing the clamping effect. In this study, the reduction of the clamping effect with the α was investigated to ensure stable fastening force. M6 BRNs were used in the tests. The fastening force was measured as follows: the plate was cut in half through the center of the hole; the BRN was inserted into the hole and fastened; and the clamping angle a was measured (values, 0° ≤ α ≤ 9°). The force leading to the separation of the halves was measured using a universal testing machine (UTM). The maximum α range, in which the fastening force remains stable, was determined. Finite element (FE) analysis confirmed that the fastening force decreases approximately linearly with increasing α. Based on the experiment and FE analysis using various α, the fastening force was found to decrease with α. Further, the maximum tolerance for α that provides secure fastening without damage is suggested.

Optimal Design of Electromagnetic Actuator with Divided Coil Excitation to Increase Clamping Force

  • This paper performed the optimal design of electromagnetic linear actuator with divided coil excitation. The table of orthogonal array and response surface methodology (RSM) are applied to maximize the clamping force of the electromagnetic linear actuator with colenoid (COL) and multipolar solenoid (MPS) excitation. The analysis results show that the clamping force of the optimal models with COL and MPS excitation are increased by 41% and 54% at the gap of 0mm compared to the initial models, respectively.

  • The design of composite joint is a very important research area because they are often the weakest areas in composite structures. In this paper, the failure load of the mechanically fastened composite joint with the clamping force was predicted by the failure area index method. By the suggested failure area index method, the strength of the mechanically fastened composite joint could be predicted within 22.5% when clamping force was applied to the composite joint.

  • 복합재 구조물에서 체결부위는 매우 취약한 부분이므로 복합재료 체결부에 대한 설계는 중요한 연구분야로 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 클램핑 포스가 존재하는 복합재료 기계적 체결부의 파손강도를 파괴면적지수법으로 예측하였다. 클램핑 포스가 존재하는 기계적 체결부의 파손강도를 파괴면적지수법으로 예측한 결과, $22.5\%$ 범위 내에서 체결부의 강도를 예측할 수 있었다.

  • In vehicle development process, durability test should be carried out in field condition. Nowadays there are many customer live there multiple conditions. It makes change of the car's material. Such change causes to lose a bolt. Diversifications of climatic conditions are also a matter of loosening the bolt. To avoid this problem, to identify the cause of the problem, and the solution should be applied. To avoid problems during the durability development test should be measured by the clamping force. Ultrasonic instruments clamping force without affecting the torque can be measured. This instrument is part of the problem by monitoring the clamping force required to obtain objective data.

  • A large plastic molding requires an injection molding with a large clamping force. However, it could not be prepared in the manufacturing at any time. In order to solve the problem, the injection molding analysis study was conducted on the back cover of 55 inch LED TV. The study compared the case of applying the existing flow system such as hot runner, the improvement of the hot runner lay-out and the precise control of the gate operation time, From the results of using the improved flow system, it was found that the welding and the clamping force were considerably improved as compared with before the improvement. In particular, the clamping force was reduced by 50% compared with before the improvement.
