Dynamic Characteristics of the Boost Input type ZVS Converter using the Active Clamp Circuit (Active Clamp 회로를 이용한 Boost 입력형 ZVS 컨버터의 동특성 해석)

  • Generally, design of feedback circuit for stable system is performed by pole-zero compensation. For the purpose of reliable and stable closed loop system, the compensator would be designed basing upon the analysis of dynamic characteristics. This paper presents analyzed results of dynamic characteristics of the boost input type ZVS converter using active-clamp circuit. The simulated results by using Matlab and the measured results by using HP4194A are presented.

Relationship between the Initial Clamping Force and the Sliding Distance of the Rail Clamp according to the Wedge Angle (쐐기각에 따른 레일클램프의 초기 압착력과 밀림거리 사이의 관계)

  • In this study we dealt with the relationship between the initial clamping force and the sliding distance in the wedge type rail clamp. The sliding distance is determined by the wedge angle and the initial clamping force. In order to derive the relation formula between the wedge angle and the sliding distance, we ad opt 5-kinds of the wedge angle, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, $10^{\circ}$. And then we analyze the effect of the initial clamping force on the sliding distance.

  • In this paper, Operation characteristics of the active clamp(ACL) zero-voltage-switching(ZVS) forward converter(FC) and active clamp hard- switching(HS) forward converter are compared with respect to loss analysis. The losses of semiconductor (including conduction losses and switching losses), transformer(containing the core loss and copper loss) and parasitic element of passive element (capacitor, inductor) are measured and compared for each type. For an experiment we have built 50W ACL ZVS-FC and ACL HS-FC, in which the switching frequency is 200kHz, and test it. The experimental results show that both types of operation have nearly same characteristics.

  • An active-clamp current-fed push-pull converter for the step-up application is proposed. The proposed converter is composed of active-clamp circuits and a voltage doubler rectifier. Thus, the voltage stress of the main switches is reduced and the output diodes are clamped to output voltage. Moreover, the output diodes can achieve zero current switching (ZCS) by the series resonance between resonant capacitors and leakage inductances. The prototype is designed for 350V/1.5kW with input voltage range $30{\sim}60V$. The theoretical analysis and experimental results are presented.

  • In this study, an efficient clamp is proposed to reduce the switch voltage stress of a forward converter. The proposed clamp consists of a conventional LC snubber, a tertiary winding, and a diode. When the switch is turned OFF, the magnetizing inductor energy of the transformer is recovered directly into the flyback output, which is the tertiary winding and diode network, instead of circulating in the LC snubber. Therefore, switch voltage stress and circulating current caused by the magnetizing inductor energy are reduced. This condition improves the efficiency of the forward converter with limited switch voltage stress. A theoretical analysis and the design guidelines of the proposed converter are provided. Experimental results are also reported.

  • This paper presents the analyzed results of dynamic characteristics including steady state characteristics of the boost input type ZVS converter using the active clamp circuit by the state space averaging method. From the results, it can be seen that the converter has the 5th order transfer functions and the stable closed loop characteristic is obtained by using the compensated error amplifier with 2-pole and 1-zero. The validity of all analyzed results are verified by measurement.

  • The research sees the catenary dropper clamp using a test equipment which is using actual sample in the field. This test helps the quality improvement of material. For raising the reliability of data, classified it by type and tests especially in the multiple sample but it was under testing in the sample of decimal at circumstance. From the accuracy side of research data it was insufficient because the dropper clamp was in small quantity but it contributes in quality of material improvement. The quality of material data which it gets with spectroscopic was not accurate so hereafter it needs to follow wet analysis and precise analysis to join in the test which is detailed comes to accomplish with the data accuracy.

Effect of Er2O3 Content on Nonlinear Properties and Impulse Clamping Characteristics of Pr/Co/Cr/Al Co-doped Zinc Oxide Ceramics

  • The microstructure, nonlinear properties, and impulse clamping characteristics of Pr/Co/Cr/Al co-doped zinc oxide ceramics were investigated with various contents of $Er_2O_3$. Increasing $Er_2O_3$ content increased the density of the sintered pellets from 5.69 to $5.83g/cm^3$, and decreased the average grain size from 10.6 to $6.5{\mu}m$. With increased $Er_2O_3$ content, the breakdown field increased from 2318 to 4205 V/cm, and the nonlinear coefficient increased from 19.4 to 40.2. The clamp characteristics were improved with the increase of the content of $Er_2O_3$. The varistors doped with 2.0 mol% exhibited the best clamp characteristics, in which the clamp voltage ratio was 1.40-1.73 at 1-50 A in an impulse current.

  • In this paper, a DC and small-signal AC modeling for the active-clamp, ful1-bridge boost converter is described. Based on the operation principle, the ac part of the converter can be replaced by a dc counterpart. Then, a conceptual equivalent circuit is derived by rearranging the switches. The equivalent circuit for this converter consists of CCM(Continuous conduction mode) boost and DCM(Discontinuous conduction mode) buck converter. The analyses for the equivalent CCM boost and DCM buck converter are done using the model of PWM switch. The theoretical modeling results are confirmed through experiment or SIMPLIS simulation.

  • This paper presents a new ZVS single phase bridgeless (Power Factor Correction) PFC, using an active clamp to achieve zero-voltage-switching for all main switches and diodes. Since the presented PFC uses a bridgeless rectifier, most of the time, only two semiconductor components are in the main current path, instead of three in conventional single-switch configurations. This property significantly reduces the conduction losses,. Moreover, zero voltage switching removes switching loss of all main switches and diodes. Also, auxiliary switch turns on zero current condition. The presented converter needs just a simple non-isolated gate drive circuitry to drive all switches. The eight stages of each switching period and the design considerations and a control strategy are explained. Finally, the converter operation is verified by simulation and experimental results.
