This study examines the emerging global city-regions theory and suggests its implications for regional development policy in Korea. Global city-regions defined as an economic and political organization of metropolitan regions or a new scale of urban organization with polycentric structure, is appreciated as a new regionalist model of development in the globalization era. In Korea, the application of global city-regions model is required particularly for strengthening the international competitiveness of metropolitan areas except the capital region including Seoul, and resolving inequalities between the capital region and non-capital regions. However, Institutional revolution including consolidation of Shi(metropolitan area) and Do(province), and devolution should be preceded above all things to develop metropolitan cities such as Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon toward global city-regions.
The Purpose of this study is to analyze of Specialization and Diversity of Rural Amenity Resources Planning. It will be performed analysis of the degree of specialization and diversity in each city and district of Chungcheongnam-do Province. Specialization and diversity indices were calculated by separately category of rural amenity resources into natural, cultural, and societal resources. The results of calculating the specialization degree of rural amenity resources based on a location index showed that eleven regions (Asan City, Buyeo District, Gyeryong City, Gongju City, Nonsan City, Boryeong City, Seocheon District, Seosan City, Seajong District, Cheongyang District and Yesan City) specialized in natural resources; four regions (Geumsan District and Hongseong Distriect) specialized in cultural resources; and six regions (Dangjin District, Cheonan City) specialized in societal resources. Examining resource specialization degrees by regions, there was a high number of regions specialized in natural and societal resources while those specialized in cultural resources were the rarest. Examining the calculation results for the tendency of resource specialization degree by areas showed that, with natural and cultural resources specialized regions, the average specialization degree showed a clear distinction with a 2.19 natural resource specialization degree and a 2.05 societal resource degree; However, in contrast, areas specialized in cultural resources-with an average degree of 1.52-were judged as not being especially more specialized than the average degree of Chungcheongnam-do Province. Also, there was seen a great gap between regions with high diversity and regions with low diversity of rural amenities, and measures to solve this difference is required.

This study, by focusing on the concept of accessibility to the central city, analyses its importance for understanding baward regions and aims to investigate a new spatial strategy for developing backward regions in Korea. The study investigates the EU accessibility case study and formulates the methodological framework for the analysis, which is applied to the case of Jeonnam-do and Gyeongbuk-do in order to evaluate the backwardness of the regions in terms of the accessibility to the central city. Finally, this paper discusses a new spatial strategy for developing backward regions based on the concept of the accessibility to the central city, which includes the creative expansion of rural public services and promoting efficient delivery system, improving public and private service provision through the accessibility to the central city and securing long-term development potential through investing in regional human capital.
A survey was conducted to 890 radiological technologists working at 44 general hospitals of 16 cities and provinces across the county to determine their stress level according to regions divided into the capital city, metropolitan areas and small- and medium-sized cities. For this purpose, such factors as their working environment, role playing, job conflict and job burden were compared and analyzed according to the regions. The findings may be summed up as follows: 1. In terms of working environment, radiological technologists in the capital city were found to have the least stress(23.46), followed by those in metropolitan areas(24.53) and small- and medium-sized cities(24.85). There was a significant difference according to the regions as for the item 'worry about influence of radioactive contamination(genetic, decisive and plausible)(P<0.001). 2. As for role playing, radiological technologists in small-and medium-sized cities appeared to receive the highest stress(l8.25) followed by metropolitan areas(l7. 71) and the capital city(l6.69). There was a statistically significant difference(P<0.001) according to the regions 3. Regarding job conflict, those who work in small- and medium-sized cities turned out to get the highest stress(15.66) compared to those in metropolitan areas(15.35) and the capital city(l4.44). In terms of job autonomy, there was no significant result from the survey in spite of the difference between metropolitan areas(14.87), small- and medium-sized cities(l4.79) and the capital city(l4.66). 4. Little difference was detected according to the regions as far as the job burden(excessive or too little) was concerned. But their was a significant regional difference in tenns of patient-related factors with the capital city(11.50), small- and medium-sized cities(l0.75), and metropolitan areas(1.63)(P<0.001).
The technologies of information communication regions are progressing in rapidly. These technologies in today are used in various industry regions. We called it smart fusion. There are various regions such as smart car, smart green city, and smart TV, smart medical industries. Therefore, we described trends and future of smart green city in this paper.
Recently, research on city gas demand is increasing by reflecting the characteristics of each region. The similarity of the social structure of the adjacent region and the density of the supply infrastructure induce spatial correlation with the clustering that has a microscopic relationship between regions. Accordingly, as a result of analyzing the spatial correlation after dividing the demand for city gas for civilian use into a total of 54 regions based on the jurisdiction of 34 city gas companies, it was confirmed that there was a positive spatial correlation from a global and local perspective. In this study, the demand for city gas for civilian use for 54 regions from January 2014 to December 2022 was composed of panel data, and the spatial panel regression analysis and the general panel regression analysis were compared, and it was found that the spatial error model (SEM) was the most suitable model. This presents policy and practical implications by confirming that the demand for city gas for civilian use in one region has a significant relationship with the adjacent region.
The purpose of this study is to present the direction for effective public environment design by becoming aware of the social, cultural and historical values that are inherent to the specific regions once again. Concept of regions' sense of identity, regions' resources and regionality were identified as a means based on the basic cityscape plan and guideline for public design. Sample city was analyzed by extracting the regionality elements, and the results are as follows. First, appropriateness of the direction for the public environment design based on the regional identity was confirmed. The need to establish regional identity in the cityscape plan is specified when it comes to the basic goal, strategy and direction. Second, public environment design should be planned within the context of the cityscape. It is necessary to improve with integrated plan by setting up the consistent goal, direction and detailed guideline based on the basic concept of cityscape plan. Third, 'design city' requires the development of the unique design and planned techniques based on the harmony with the existing resources. It is necessary to uncover the powerful design elements that are exclusive to specific regions, and to search for differentiation and visualization to form consensus. Public environment based on regional identity will improve if the above mentioned research results are used as the basic data when it comes to the implementation of public environment design.

Culture is an indispensable element in modern society in improving the quality of life for city dwellers and stimulating the urbanization. The conspicuous emergence of cultural cities, which is a new paradigm, can be understood in that context. Global cities are pursuing cultural cities, and autonomous regions in Korea are also pushing ahead with the urbanization which combines cultural elements. Specifically, Nam-gu of Incheon has set an example of successful cultural city for other autonomous regions. The cultural environmental policy of Nam-gu is deemed to have retained the infrastructure, cultural urban landscape and living space, and a plenty of contents. The real significance of cultural city lies in the pursuit of sustainable urban development as a culture-friendly city. For that, the direction of cultural environmental city has to be firmly set, and related law and system should be strengthened. Above all, it is critical to pursue human-oriented cultural city by showing citizens what roles they have to play, setting the right direction, and improving the partnership.
For recent years, there have been considerable changes in the employment rate of the service industry and its relative ratio. These changes vary depending on the region whether it is Seoul metropolitan region or not. According to main results of this article, the average of employment rate in the service industry has been highest in the Seoul metropolitan region. And the changes by period of the employment-rate in the service industry have increased continuously for all the time in the Seoul metropolitan region whereas they have varied in other regions. Also the relative ratio of employment rate in the service industry to total employment rate has been more higher in Seoul metropolitan region and Gangwon region than other regions, and also the changes by period of the relative ratio have more increased in these two regions than other regions. Finally, comparing metropolitan city regions with do regions for the average of employment rate in the service industry or the relative ratio of it, they have more higher in metropolitan city regions than do regions, whereas the changes by period of them have varied with each other regions.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify differences in characteristics of the people who frequently drink alone between those in old-city regions and those in other regions in Busan, focusing on socio-demographic factors and the level of drinking according to the types of stress. Methods: The analysis confirmed the differences based on Busan Social Statistics Data in 2012, 2014, and 2016. Frequencies by each variable were presented, and ${\chi}^2$ and logistic regression analysis were also used in the analysis. Results: The residents of Busan showed higher odds ratios of "frequent drinking alone" when they felt considerably higher-than-normal levels of stress. In addition, in the residents of old-city regions, the odds ratios of those who frequently drank alone were not different between people who could easily relieve stress, who experienced economic stress, or who had relationship stress and people who did not. However, higher odds ratios of frequently drinking alone were reported when such participants felt some stress related to work, family, relationships, and so on. Conclusions: Interventions for the appropriate relief of stress caused by different reasons, as well as other stress-relieving methods, should be implemented for the people's benefits.
