HSS-Co와 SM55C 이종 마찰용접재의 피로강도에 관한 연구(2) (A Study on Fatigue Strength in the Friction Welded Joints of HSS-Co to SM55C Carbon Steel(II))

  • The fatigue strength and fracture topography in the friction welded interface of high speed steel (HSS-Co) to SM55C carbon steel have been investigated through the fatigue test, SEM fractograph and EDS (energy dispersive spectrometer) analysis. Three kinds of specimens used in this research are the friction welded joints, HSS-Co and SM55C carbon steel with circumferential notch, saw notch and smooth, respectively. The notch sensitivity factor, .eta. of the friction welded joints is lower than that of the base materials, and that represents a superiority of the joint performance of FRW. Fracture topography of the FRW specimens with a notch showed a cleavage or brittle appearance, while that of the FRW smooth specimen appeared to be ductile. Furthermore, although fatigue crack likely initiated near the weld interface of the FRW smooth specimen, crack propagation continued into the HAZ of SM55C steel. Finally, fatigue fractures of the base materials were associated primarily with the inclusions located at the outer periphery of the specimen.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop defect assessment technology for integrity evaluation of CANDU pressure tubes. In fracture mechanics analysis, three-dimensional and two-dimensional (line-spring model) finite element analyses were performed to obtain the stress intensity factor for axial and circumferential surface cracks. In leak before break (LBB) analysis, heat transfer analyses for through-wall cracks were performed by considering the cooling effect and the LBB application time was computed. It was shown that the analytical results obtained in this study provide less-conservative but accurate solution for defect assessment of CANDU pressure tubes.

  • One of the cylindrical reactor vessels in petrochemical plants was examined by acoustic emission method. The vessel was quiet in view of A.E. activity throughout the pressure range $12-44kg.f/cm^{2}.G$. Above the pressure of $44kg.f/cm^2$, some events were appeared lower than 30 counts. In order to verify the events, other Nondestructive testing methods were performed and a surface crack, 10mm in length and 0.8mm in depth, was found on the outside surface of circumferential weld.

표면균열이 있는 직관에 대한 선형탄성 응력확대계수 유한요소해석 결과의 요소 및 균열형상 민감도 (Element and Crack Geometry Sensitivities of Finite Element Analysis Results of Linear Elastic Stress Intensity Factor for Surface Cracked Straight Pipes)

  • 본 논문에서는 3 차원 유한요소해석을 통해 표면균열이 있는 직관에 내압, 굽힘, 그리고 비틀림의 단일 또는 복합하중이 작용하는 경우의 응력확대계수를 연구하였다. 두 가지 결함평가코드(API-579-1, RCC-MR A16)를 각각 유한요소해석 결과와 비교하여 코드 간의 차이 및 해석의 신뢰성을 확인하였다. 응력확대계수는 적분 경로에 독립적이기 때문에 민감하지 않다고 알려져 있는데 3 차원 유한요소해석을 통해 요소 수에 대한 민감도를 확인하였다. 또한 균열형상의 정의방법에 따른 유한요소해석 결과의 차이와 두 가지 결함평가코드를 사용한 결과의 차이를 확인하였다.

  • SM45C steel rods using generally for machine components were selected and welded by butt-GMA welding method for this study. And then they were studied about characteristics of fatigue behavior and fracture surfaces by rotary bending test. Fatigue strength in weld zone present highly in order of the boundary between deposited metal zone and heat affected zone, deposited metal zone, heat affected zone. The region of infinite life by Haigh diagram present highly in order of the boundary between deposited metal zone and heat affected zone, deposited metal zone, heat affected zone. Fatigue cracks in unnotched specimens of base metal and weld zone introduce simultaneously from extensive out-side of circumferential cross-section and propagate to the other side indicating beach markings and dimples according to consolidation of fatigue cracks. Fatigue cracks in all of notched specimens introduce simultaneously in out-side of circumferential cross-section by high stresses and propagate to center of it indicating beach markings.

항만건설을 위한 케이슨 들고리의 안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety of Lifting Cable for Construction of Coastal Structures)

  • 본 논문은 케이슨의 인양작업중 Fitting Anchor의 취성파괴로 인한 들고리의 붕괴원인을 조사하기 위한 실험적 연구이다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 응력해석을 통하여 들고리의 붕괴메카니즘을 분석하고 이를 실제 붕괴과정과 비교한다. 본 연구에서는 파괴된 강재에 대한 파면해석 뿐만아니라 화학성분시험, 인장시험 및 샤르피 V-노치 충격시험을 실시한다. 그리고 이의 시험 결과를 정상적인 강재에 대한 시험결과와 비교한다. 본 연구의 거시적, 미시적인 방법으로 결함을 관찰한 결과, Fitting Anchor 내부에 원주방향으로 나타난 표면결함은 케이슨의 진수시 발생하는 들고리의 인장응력이 작용하기 전에 발생한 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 균열선단의 응력집중이 발생하여 작용응력보다 큰 응력이 결함에 발생한 것임을 알 수 있다. 또한, 잠재한 결함의 크기가 임계값 이상으로 증가하여 본 연구대상 강재의 응력확대계수가 증가하였을 것으로 판단된다. 그래서 균열선단의 응력확대계수가 본 강재의 파괴인성보다 크게 되어 케이슨의 인양작업중에 취성파괴를 일으킨 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구결과에 따르면 케이슨 들고리의 붕괴는 Fitting Anchor의 취성파괴로 발생한 것으로 사료된다.

  • Failure behaviors of thin cylinder with corrosion are very important for the integrity of boiler and pressure vessel system. In this study, FEM with internal pressure are conducted on 1000 mm diameter (length 3000 mm and thickness, 5.9 mm) SS400 carbon steel. Failure behaviors of locally wall thinned cylinders were calculated by elasto-plastic analysis using finite element method. The elasto-plastic analysis was performed by FE code ANSYS. We simulated various types of local wall thinning that can be occurred at cylinder surface due to corrosion. Locally wall thinned shapes were machined to be different in size along the circumferential or axial direction of straight cylinder. In case of local wall thinned length 30 mm, internal pressure, when the crack initiation and the plastic collapse occur, didn't decrease dramatically even though local wall thinned depth was deep. In 400 mm, the more local wall thinned depth is deep, the more internal pressure decreased dramatically. In degraded materials, crack is easily initiation but plastic collapse was difficult.

High-Temperature Drying of Bamboo Tubes Pretreated with Polyethylen Glycol Solution

  • This study was conducted to develop a new drying technology in order to quickly and massively dry bamboo tubes without crack and check. The bamboo tubes with the diameter of 45 mm - 68 mm had been impregnated in the solution of PEG-1000, and then were dried under room temperature and high temperature, respectively. The cracks occurred on all control specimens while no cracks were found on PEG treated specimens during drying at room temperature due to effect of PEG restraining the circumferential shrinkage of bamboo tube. But the drying period of this method was too long (200 days) compared to 10 hours of kiln drying. During fast high temperature drying, cracks occurred on all control specimens, but no cracks were found on PEG treated specimens, which could be accounted for more solidified PEG due to higher drying temperature and faster drying rate, and the tension set formed on the surface of bamboo tube in the early stage of drying owning to high drying temperature and low relative humidity. Thus, it is advised that PEG treated bamboo tube should be fast dried at high temperature in order to not only prevent crack or check in short drying period but also increase the dimensional stability of the products made of bamboo tubes.

  • 실온 대기 중에서 탄소강배관(STS370)의 피로시험을 행하였다. 배관에는 외부결함을 인공적으로 상정하여, 피로균열진전 및 관통의 거동, 균열형상, 누설 및 파단수명, 균열개구변위를 실험과 이론의 양면으로부터 비교·검토하였다. 특히, 배관의 벽두께 관통후에 있어서의 응력확대계수를 평가하기 위하여 새로운 식을 제안하였다. 피로균열이 관벽을 관통하기 전에 있어서는 판모델에 의한 Newman-Raju의 응력확대계수 평가식을 이용하므로서 aspect비와 누설수명 등 관통전의 피로균열성장거동을 평가할 수 있음을 나타내었다. 또한, 피로균열이 관벽을 관통한 후에 있어서는 본 논문에서 제안한 배관모델에 의한 응력확대계수의 평가식을 이용하여 관통후의 균열형상, 파단수명 및 균열개구변위 등 관통후의 피로균열성장거동을 평가하였다.

가중함수법을 이용한 두꺼운 배관의 응력강도계수 계산 (Calculation of Stress Intensity Factors for a Thick Pipe Using Weight Function Method)

  • An approximate weight function technique using the indirect boundary integral equation has been presented for the analysis of stress intensity foactors(SIFs) of a thick pipe. One-term boundary integral was introduced to represent the crack surface displacement field for the displacement based weight function technique. An explicit closed-form SIF solution applicable to symmetric cracked pipes without any modification of the solution including both circumferential and radial cracks has been derived. The necessary information in the analysis is two or three reference SIFs. In most cases the SIF solution were in good agreement with those available in the literature.
