  • Hydroforming is a forming process enabling circular metal tubes to be produced in complex cross sections along curved axial paths. This forming process is widely used to manufacture parts in automotive industry. This paper presents bending and forming results to following angle of weld line positions. These compare to good bending, bad bending and without weld line model case. And then this result of after forming compare to each forming cases. The purpose of this paper is found that adaptive weld line position for bended final shape.

  • Hydroforming is a metal forming process that enables circular metal tubes to be formed in to the parts with the complex cross section along the curved axial direction. Recently this hydroforming process is largely used for the production of the automotive parts. This paper presents the results of tube bending and hydroforming simulations in cases of the varying weld line positions of the tube. Ten cases of prebending and hydroforming simulations are carried out to find the optiaml weld line position.

  • Hydroforming is a forming process enabling circular metal tubes to be produced in complex cross sections along curved axial paths With the availability of advanced machine design and control They offer advantages over stamped sheet metal in lower tooling cost and structural mass The technology is relatively new so that there is no large knowledge base to assist the fundamentals of tube hydroforming technology. The purpose of this paper is found that adaptive bending condition and contact condition for bended part has uniform thickness distribution.

  • Acoustic characteristics of water sediment were experimentally studied in laboratory. Water saturated sand sediment less than the grain size of 0.5 mm diameter is uniformly distributed in an acryl box (100 mm×100mm×42mm) with material thickness 1 mm. Pores in the acryl box are modeled as the structure of cylindrical pore tubes (diameter 3 mm and length 42 mm) filled with water. Cylindrical pore tubes have porosities 0%, 5%, 11%, 18% and 26 % controlled by the tube numbers. Transmitted acoustic waves through sand sediment specimen are analyzed as the functions of porosity and frequency from 0.3 MHz to 4 MHz. Transmitted acoustic waves are mixed with the first-kind wave from whole specimen and the second-kind wane from cylindrical pore tubes. For the center frequency 1 MHz, the first kind wave is dominant but for the center frequency 2.25 MHz, the second kind wave is dominant. In the case of the first-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient decreases and the sound speed decreases to the sound speed of water. As the frequency increases, the transmission coefficient decreases but the sound speed is almost constant. In the case of the second-kind wave, as the porosity increases, the transmission coefficient increases but the sound speed is almost constant. The transmission coefficient and the sound speed are almost constant as a function of frequency.

  • This paper presents the results of an experiment comparing the current circular CFT columns and circular CFT columns that were additionally confined by carbon fiber sheets (CFS) under axial loading. The main experimental parameters are the numbers of CFS layers and the diameter-to-thickness ratio. 10 specimens were prepared according to the experimental parameter plans, and axial compression tests were conducted. From the tests, the failure procedure, load-axial deformation curve, maximum axial strength, and deformation capacity of the CFT columns and confined CFT columns were compared. The test results showed that the maximum axial strengths of CFT columns additionally confined by CFS are increased higher than those of the current CFT columns, and that local buckling can be delayed due to the confinement effect of CFS.

  • The HANARO, a multi-purpose research reactor of 30 MWth, open-tank-in-pool type, has been under normal operation since its initial criticality in February, 1995. The HANARO is composed of inlet plenum, grid plate, core channel with flow tubes and chimney. The reactor core channel is located at about twelve m (12 m) depth of the reactor pool and cold by the upward flow that the coolant enters the lower inlet of the plenum, rises up through the grid plate and the core channel and exit through the outlet of chimney. A guide tube is extended from the reactor core to the top of the reactor chimney for easily un/loading a target under the reactor normal operation. But active coolant through the core can be Quickly raised up to the top of the chimney through the guide tube by jet flow. This paper is described an analytical analysis to study the flow behavior through the guide tube under reactor normal operation and unloading the target. As results, it was conformed through the analysis results that the flow rate, about fourteen kilogram per second (14 kg/s) suppressed the guide tube jet and met the design cooling flow rate in a circular flow tube, and that the fission moly target cooling flow rate met the minimum flow rate to cool the target.

  • This paper presents the theoretical analysis of a flow driven by surface tension and gravity in an inclined circular tube. A governing equation is developed for describing the displacement of a non-Newtonian fluid(Power-law model) that continuously flows into a circular tube owing to surface tension, which represents a second-order, nonlinear, non-homogeneous, and ordinary differential form. It was found that quantitatively, the theoretical predictions of the governing equation were in excellent agreement with the solutions of the equation for horizontal tubes and the past experimental data. In addition, the predictions compared very well with the results of the force balance equation for steady.

  • An experiment was carried out to investigate the mechanical behaviour of the circular hollow section reinforced concrete member with internal corrugated steel tube. A specimen, 50cm in diameter and 340cm in length, was made and tested by 3 points bending. The test load was increased slowly (quasi static) to the failure or unacceptable deformation. During the test, lateral displacement at mid point and longitudinal displacement of extreme fiber on compressive and tensile side of the specimen were measured. The measured data were analysed and compared with calculated results for the equivalent member without inserted corrugated steel tube. The comparison shows that the flexural strength and ductility of hollow section reinforced concrete members can be improved by inserting corrugated steel tubes inside.

  • Steady, laminar, forced convection flow and heat transfer in the entrance region of an internally finned circular duct with a finite thermal conductivity has been analyzed numerically. The problem under investigation is a three-dimensional boundary layer problem, and is solved by employing a marching-type procedure which involves solution of a series of 2-dimensional elliptic problems in the cross-stream plane. Two types of inlet hydrodynamic conditions are considered : (a) uniform velocity flow and (b) fully developed flow. From the above inlet conditions, the effects of the fin height(h), fin number(N) and conductivity ratio($k_r$) on the flow and thermal characteristics are investigated. The numerical results show that the height and number of fins, and ratio of the solid to fluid thermal conductivity have pronounced effect on the solution. Considering pressure drop, optimized dimensionless fin height is 0.4.
