The importance of NPC's role in computer games is increasing. An NPC must perform its tasks by perceiving obstacles and other characters and by moving through them. It has been proposed to plan a natural-looking path against fixed obstacles by using a generalized visibility graph. In this paper we develop the execution module for an NPC to move efficiently along the path planned on the generalized visibility graph. The planned path consists of line segments and arc segments, so we define steering behaviors such as linear behaviors, circular behaviors, and an arriving behavior for NPC's movements to be realistic and utilize them during execution. The execution module also includes the collision detection capability to be able to detect dynamic obstacles and uses a decision tree to react differently according to the detected obstacles. The execution module is tested through the simulation based on the example scenario in which an NPC interferes the other moving NPC.

An insole type local shear force measurement system was developed and local shear stresses in the foot were measured during level walking. The shear force transducer based on the magneto-resistive principle, was a rigid 3-layer circular disc. Sensor calibrations with a specially designed calibration device showed that it provided relatively linear sensor outputs. Shear transducers were mounted on the locations of four metatarsal heads and heel in the insole. Sensor outputs were amplified, decorded in the bluetooth transmission part and then transferred to PC. In order to evaluate the developed system, both shear and plantar pressure measurements, synchronized with the three-dimensional motion analysis system, were performed on twelve young healthy male subjects, walking at their comfortable speeds. The maximum peak pressure during gait was 5.00kPa/B.W at the heel. The time when large local shear stresses were acted correlated well with the time of fast COP movements. The anteroposterior shear was dominant near the COP trajectory, but the mediolateral shear was noted away from the COP trajectory. The vector sum of shear stresses revealed a strong correlation with COP movement velocity. The present study will be helpful to select the material and to design of foot orthoses and orthopedic shoes for diabetic neuropathy or Hansen disease.

Schwannomas are well-differentiated solitary benign tumors that originate from the schwann cells of the nerve sheath. They can readily occur in the head and neck regions, but the schwannoma originating from the infraorbital nerve is extremely rare and usually painless, slow-growing, and without specific symptoms. The author experienced a rare case of infraorbital schwannoma, which was completely removed through the intraoral approach. A 20-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for a painless, solid and circular mass located on the right infraorbital region. The eyeball movement and visual field were normal. There was no globe displacement or proptosis. Preoperative computed tomography demonstrated $13{\times}10{\times}5mm$-sized soft tissue mass. On March 2011, the mass was removed through an intraoral approach. On histopathological examination, the gross specimen consisted of a smooth, well-encapsulated and light yellowish solid mass, measuring $12{\times}7{\times}5mm$. Microscopically, it presented a typical manifestation of schwannoma with Antoni A area with Verocay body, and Antoni B area on H&E stain. The result of the immunohistochemical staining was positive for the S-100 protein. The patient had hypoesthesia of the nasal septum and vestibule in the postoperative period, and this finding confirmed that the internal nasal branch of infraorbital nerve was the nerve in which the schwannoma originated. Infraorbital schwannomas are very rare and must be included in the differential diagnosis of the orbital masses inferior to the eyeball. In the case of early diagnosis, the small-sized infraorbital schwannomas can be completely removed without any scar through an intraoral approach.
Sea urchins are hugely destructive of marine forest ecosystems. This study aimed to determine the behavioral response of purple sea Urchins Heliocodaris crassispina to food and an electrical stimulus and to investigate the attraction radius of these stimuli, with an eye to the development of technology for controlling sea urchin numbers. Ten purple sea urchins, housed in circular acrylic tank, were tested against various attractant stimuli. In addition, an experiment was conducted with 200 purple sea urchins in a large water tank to observe movement patterns and the attractiveness of various stimuli. In the smaller experiment, eight out of 10 sea urchins were attracted to food, and these attractive effects were maintained in all except one of the affected urchins. However, the attractant effects of the electrical stimulus were maintained in only three sea urchins. The results of the larger experiment indicated that differences in the attractant power of food and an electrical stimulus were 54%-78%, and approximately 5-15% of sea urchins were attracted by the electrical stimulus.

Positioning systems have been actively researched and developed over the past few years and have been used in many applications. This paper presents a method to determine a location in a large space using a sensor system consisting of an accelerometer and a single-axis gyroscope. In particular, to consider usability, a sensor device was loosely worn on the waist so that the experimental data could be used in practical applications. Based on the experimental results of circular tracks with radiuses of 1m and 3m, in this paper, an algorithm using the threshold of rotation angle was proposed and applied to the experimental results. A tracking experiment was performed on the grid-pattern track model. For raw sensor data, the average deviation between the final tracking point and the target point was approximately 15.2 m, which could be reduced to approximately 4.0 m using an algorithm applying the rotation angle threshold.

It has been reported that the failure of Carsington Dam in Eng1and occured due to the existence of a thin yellow clay layer which was not identified during the design work, and due to pre-existing shears of the clay layer. The slope stability analyses during the design work, which utilized traditional circular arc type failure method and neglected the existence of the clay layer, showed a safety factor of 1.4. However, the post-failure analyses which utilized translational failure mode considering the clay layer and the pre-existing shear deformation revealed the reduction of safety factor to unity. The post-failure analysis assumed 10。 inclination of the horizontal forces onto each slice based on the results of finite element analyses. In this paper, Bishop's simplified method, Janbu method, and Morgenstern-Price method were used for the comparison of both circular and translational failure analysis methods. The effects of the pre-existing shears and subsquent movement were also considered by varying the soil strength parameters and the pore pressure ratio according to the given soi1 parameters. The results showed factor of safefy 1.387 by Bishop's simplified method(STABL) which assumed circular arc failure surface and disregarding yellow clay layer and pre-failure material properties. Also the results showed factor of safety 1.093 by Janbu method(STABL) and 0.969 by Morgenstern-Price method(MALE) which assumed wedge failure surface and considerd yellow clay layer using post failure material properties. In addition, dam behavior was simulated by Cam-Clay model FEM program. The effects of pore pressure changes with loading and consolidation, and strength reduction near or at failure were also considered based on properly assumed stress-strain relationship and pore pressure characteristics. The results showed that the failure was initiated at the yellow clay layer and propagated through other zones by showing that stress and displacement were concentrated at the yel1ow clay layer.
Twenty-four yearling Boer$\times$Spanish goats were used in a crossover design experiment to determine effects of tethering on forage selection, intake and digestibility, grazing behavior and energy expenditure (EE) with forage high in nutritive value and low to moderate in mass. Objectives were to determine if tethered goats could be used as a model for study of unrestrained animals and to characterize tethering as a production practice. Four 0.72-ha pastures of wheat (Triticum aestivum) and berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrium) were grazed in December and January. Each pasture hosted six animals, three with free movement and three attached to a 4.11-m tether for access to a circular area of $53.1m^2$. Tethering areas were moved each day. One animal of each treatment and pasture was used to determine forage selection, fecal output or grazing behavior and EE; therefore, there were eight observations per treatment. Mass of forage DM before grazing in Tethered areas averaged 1,280 and 1,130 kg/ha in periods 1 and 2, respectively. The CP concentration in ingesta was greater ((p<0.05) 239 and 209 g/kg; SE = 8.0) and the NDF level was lower (p<0.05) for Free vs. Tethered animals (503 and 538 g/kg; SE = 12.0); in vitro true DM digestion was similar between treatments (0.808 and 0.807 for Free and Tethered, respectively; SE = 0.0096). Intakes of DM (1,013 and 968 g/d; SE = 78.6), NDF (511 and 521 g/d; SE = 39.9) and ME (10.9 and 10.7 MJ/d; SE = 0.90) were similar between treatments, but CP intake was greater (p<0.05) for Free vs. Tethered animals (241 and 203 g/d; SE = 17.2). There were small treatment differences in in vivo apparent digestibility of OM ((p<0.05) 0.780 and 0.814; SE = 0.0049), CP ((p<0.05) 0.800 and 0.817; SE = 0.0067) and NDF ((p<0.09) 0.777 and 0.760 for Free and Tethered, respectively; SE = 0.0078). There were no treatment effects on time spent ruminating or grazing (346 and 347 min/d for Free and Tethered, respectively; SE = 42.5), but EE was considerably greater (p<0.05) for Free vs. Tethered animals (571 and 489 kJ/kg $BW^{0.75}$; SE = 8.9). In conclusion, with forage of high nutritive value and low to moderate in mass, tethering can offer a production advantage over free grazing of less energy used for activity despite similar grazing time. With forage removal considerably less than that available for grazing, effects of tethering on chemical composition of selected forage were small and less than needed to markedly affect digestion. Tethering may offer a means of studying some aspects of grazing by ruminants, but would not seem suitable for energy metabolism.
The magnetic field due to a current is one of the core concepts in electromagnetism which has been taught in secondary science education. In addition, it is a representative example of using visual representations to explain the relation between invisible physical quantities; current and magnetic field. In this study we investigated middle school students' representational competence into three components; interpretation, construction, and application of visual representations. According to the analysis, more than 75 % of the respondents interpreted the meaning of the arrows for current and magnetic field correctly. However, half of them confused the movement of electric charges with the direction of magnetic field. Over 60 % of the students constructed the magnetic field representation as circular closed curves, but many of them could not express the density of field lines properly. In application of visual representations, more than half failed to draw the direction of compass needle correctly. The scores were in order of interpretation, construction and application. There were also significant correlations among three components of representational competence. More attention and research on students' representational competence and effective use of visual representations is needed to better support science learning and teaching.

Hemisphere type Luneberg lens antenna with a reflector(frequency : 9.375 GHz, -3 dB beam width 6$^{\circ}$, diameter 30.3 cm(about 10 A), which is miniaturized and lightweightized by attaching a reflector on a section of half the Luneberg lens antenna, is designed and fabricated on the basis of Luneberg lens antenna from which easy beam pointing is acquired only by movement of 1st radiator. Measurement shows -3dB beamwidth is 6.1$^{\circ}$ in case of E-plane and 5.5$^{\circ}$ in case of H-plane. These are good agreements with expected value. Gain of this antenna is 26dBi(Aperture efficiency for uniform distribution : $\pi$ = 44.97%) which is greater than that of 1st radiator(Rectangular microstrip antenna) by 20.4 dB. And, after calculating the approximated pattern of the 1st radiator, far-field pattern, whose source is the second aperture source farmed from the approximated pattern of the 1st radiator is computed. Comparing this far-field pattern with the expected pattern, a (relatively) good agreement is observed. Circular polarization Luneberg lens antenna is also manufactured by making 1st radiator so that it has the characteristics of LHCP and RHCP radiation. The results are as followings : -3 dB beamwidth 5.8$^{\circ}$ , side lobe level -15.3 dB, isolation between LHCP and RHCP radiation 2543, axial ratio 2 dB bandwidth about 1.4 GHz(14.9%).
The extent and direction of movement of removable partial dentures during function are influenced by the nature of the supporting structures and and the design of the prosthesis. Since forces are transmitted to the abutment teeth through occlusal rests, guide planes and direct retainers during functional movements, proper design based on the avaialble research data will maintain the health of abutment teeth and their supporting structures. The purpose of this in vitro study is evaluating stress distribution clinically around the abutment teeth prepared following 4-type clasping systems for unilateral free-end removable partial dentures. Three-Dimensional Photoelastic Stress Analysis method was used because it shows a visual display of stresses of the simulated abutment teeth and residual ridges and reveals stress concentration that can be read at any given points in terms of direction and magnitude. For this study, the author fabricated 4 mandibular photoelastic epoxy models missing left 1st and End molar. Epoxy models were duplicated and 4 unilateral removable partial dentures were construe- ted in accordance with 4-type direct retainers. Unilateral free-end removable partial dentures were positioned on their own models. 6kg force was loaded on the every removable partial dentures of the epoxy model on the central fossa of mandibular left 1st molar vertically by the loading device. After the stress was frozen in a stress freezing furnace, 6 specimens of 6-mm thickness were made from every epoxy model and examined with the circular polariscope. The results were as follows : 1. Generally I-bar clasp revealed the most favorable stress distribution around the abutment teeth. 2. At the end portion of the free-end ridge, Back action clasp showed the highest stress concentration at the bucco-lingual and top portions of the residual alveolar ridge. 3. At the distal area of the abutment teeth, Akers clasp and Roach clasp showed higher stress concentration bucco-lingually and apically than the others. 4. To the abutment tooth, I-bar clasp showed the least stress distribution bucco-lingually but the others showed irregular stress distribution. 5. At the mesial area of the abutment teeth, the order of effective stress distribution was I-bar clasp, Back-action clasp, Akers clasp and Roach clasp. There was big difference of stress distribution between them. 6. At the right 2nd premolar and 1st molar, the stress concentration of Akers clasp was a little high but that of I-bar clasp was low.
