This experimental investigation was conducted to examine the behaviour of eight one-third scale columns made of high-strength concrete (HSC). The columns were subjected to a constant axial load corresponding to 30 per cent of the column axial load capacity and a cyclic horizontal load-inducing reversed bending moment. The variables studied in this research are the volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement, tie configuration and tie yield strength. Columns with 42 per cent higher amounts of transverse reinforcement than that required by seismic provisions of ACI 318-02 showed ductile behaviour. Relationships between the calculated damage index and the observed damage such as initial crack, spalling of concrete, buckling of longitudinal bar, and crushing of concrete are propose.

Voltage sags are known as a serious problem causing mal-operation of equipment like computers, process controllers and adjustable-speed drives. In this paper, characterization of voltage sag and an overview of methods used in the mitigation of voltage sags are presented. Moreover a fast detection method for voltage disturbances is explored. The algorithm is based on the theory that allows a set of three-phase voltages be converted the d-q value. The utility input voltages are sensed and then converted to some quantities in the d-q transformation. And the difference between reference value and input value are showed that some disturbances happened in the system.

The wavelet transform can apply various lengths of windows according to the amount of signal frequencies. So characteristics of nonstationary disturbances were found to be more closely monitored by the wavelet transform. In this paper, the wavelet transform is applied to the algorithm for monitoring various power quality disturbances. And personal computer monitoring system was developed.

This paper deals with force characteristic analysis of linear switched reluctance motor using dynamic simulation. First, we calculated flux density of linear switched reluctance motor according to position. Second, analyzed normal force from flux density of linear switched reluctance motor according to position. Also, analysis result compares with data that is derived through a finite element analysis, and proved validity. However, linear switched reluctance motor has non linear characteristic, hence, analysis of propulsion force do not easy using analytical method. Therefore, we presented dynamic characteristic analysis model which is consisted at motor and sensor signal part, etc., and substitute circuit constant that get using magnetic equivalent circuit method, we confirmed propulsion force.

Hypertonicity imposes a great deal of stress to cells since it causes rise in cellular ionic strength, which can be reduced by the accumulation of compatible osmolytes. TonEBP plays a central role in the cellular accumulation of compatible osmolytes via transcriptional stimulation of membrane transporters and aldose reductase. Alternatively spliced forms of TonEBP mRNA have previously been reported and two of them showed different transcriptional activity. In the present study, isoform-specific antibodies were produced to confirm the translation of the spliced mRNA to protein. TonEBP was immunoprecipitated by using anti-TonEBP antibody and then immunoblotted using anti-TonEBP or isoform specific antibodies to find out the expression profile of TonEBP isoforms in basal or stimulated condition. From these results, we conclude that all TonEBP isoforms are expressed in mammalian cells and their expression patterns are not same in every cells.

This study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of honeybee (Apis mellifera) disease in cheonan and asan area. From September to November in 2012, 33 samples were collected from 33 apiculture farms in the regions and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was conducted. Among 33 samples, prevalence rate was 42% in Sac Brood Virus (SBV), 52% in Nosema, 21% in American foulbrood (AFB), 70% in European foulbrood (EFB), 97% in Stonebrood, 3% in Chalkbrood. The result indicate that stonebrood was most prevalent disease in apiculture farms in cheonan and asan area.

In this work, we have fabricated inverted staggered ZnO TFTs with 1-${\mu}m$ resolution channel length by micro contact printing (${\mu}$-CP) method. Patterning of micro scale source/drain electrodes without etching is successfully achieved by micro contact printing method by using silver ink and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) stamp. And the time dependent characteristics of the sheet resistance show that Ag inklayer could be used as source and drain electrodes for ZnO TFTs.

This study was carried out to evaluate the status of the groundwater quality for paddy fields irrigation in Korea. Water samples were collected at 130 sites throughout the country. Samples were collected at three seasons - April, July and October - in 2000. According to our survey, the groundwater was found to be suitable for irrigation purpose. Average EC was shown 0.286 dS/m. Nitrate-nitrogen and $Cl^-$ concentration was 5.6 mg/L, 32.95 mg/L which satisfied the Korean Standards for Irrigation Water. Nitrate-nitrogen concentration in each province was shown as following orders: Jeju (11.17 mg/L) > Chungnam (8.16 mg/L) > Gyeongbuk (6.64 mg/L) > Gyounggi (5.91 mg/L) > Chungnam (4.95 mg/L) > Gyeongnam (3.91 mg/L) > Jeonbuk (3.50 mg/L) > Jeonnam (3.27 mg/L) > Gangwon (2.91 mg/L). The concentration by sampling seasons were October (6.62 mg/L) > July (5.88 mg/L) > April (4.78 mg/L). As the soil of Jeju Province is usually derived from volcanic ash soils mainly used for upland drops, it may influence the nitrate-nitrogen concentration of groundwater. The amount of rainfall also influence the water quality. But the $COD_{Cr}$ were shown April (3.17 mg/L) > July (2.91 mg/L) > October (2.40 mg/L), it is highly related in the basal dose of organic matter fertilizers. This study demonstrated that groundwater quality was suitable for irrigation, but continuous monitoring is recommended for agricultural policy and developing OECD agricultural environment indicators.
