Congenital Chloride Diarrhea in Dizygotic Twins

  • Congenital chloride diarrhea (CLD) is a rare inherited autosomal recessive disorder. Mutations of the solute carrier family 26 member 3 gene cause profuse, chloride ion rich diarrhea, which results in hypochloremia, hyponatremia and metabolic alkalosis with dehydration. If a fetal ultrasound shows bowel dilatation suggestive of bowel obstruction, or if a neonate shows persistent diarrhea and metabolic alkalosis, CLD should be considered in the differential diagnosis. The severity of CLD varies, but early detection and early therapy can prevent complications including growth failure. We report a case of dizygotic twins affected by CLD who had been born to non-consanguineous parents. Both of them showed growth failure, but one of the twins experienced worse clinical course. He showed developmental delay, along with dehydration and severe electrolyte imbalance. He was diagnosed with CLD first at 6-month age, and then the other one was also diagnosed with CLD.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경이란 생활 속에 존재하는 컴퓨팅 자원들을 이용해 사용자가 언제 어디에서든 편리한 서비스를 제공받을 수 있는 환경을 의미한다. 유비쿼터스 환경에 존재하는 수없이 많고 다양한 컴퓨팅 자원들을 사용자가 최적으로 사용하기 위해서는 사용자가 어떤 상황에 있으며 이때 어떤 자원이 사용자의 현 상황에서 가장 적절한지를 판단하는 것이 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이를 위하여 사용자가 현재 존재하는 유비쿼터스 공간에서 사용자의 상황을 인식하고 사용 가능한 최적의 자원들을 공유할 수 있도록 추천해주는 상황 기반 디바이스 추천 시스템을 제안한다. 우리의 추천 시스템은 상황에 따른 사용자 개개인의 특성이 고려된 사용자의 개인정보 및 규칙들을 이용하여 사용자의 상황에 최적의 디바이스를 추론한다. 향후 제안한 서비스 추론 방법은 유비쿼터스 환경에서 더 나은 개인화 서비스 시스템의 개발 및 운용을 효과적으로 지원할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

SET7-mediated TIP60 methylation is essential for DNA double-strand break repair

  • The repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) by homologous recombination (HR) is crucial for maintaining genomic integrity and is involved in numerous fundamental biological processes. Post-translational modifications by proteins play an important role in regulating DNA repair. Here, we report that the methyltransferase SET7 regulates HR-mediated DSB repair by methylating TIP60, a histone acetyltransferase and tumor suppressor involved in gene expression and protein stability. We show that SET7 targets TIP60 for methylation at K137, which facilitates DSB repair by promoting HR and determines cell viability against DNA damage. Interestingly, TIP60 demethylation is catalyzed by LSD1, which affects HR efficiency. Taken together, our findings reveal the importance of TIP60 methylation status by SET7 and LSD1 in the DSB repair pathway.

  • In this paper, the simulation of the effects of variation of rotor resistance of induction motor for the performance of vector control is presented. Especially, this paper considered the effects as a difference variation of the rotor resistance between slip calculator and induction motor.

  • The quaternary ammonium cephalosporin derivatives were prepared with various pyridines substituted at the 3 or/and 4 position. Their in vitro antibacterial activities were determined and substituent effect on pyridine nucleus was studied. Preparation of substituted pyridines are also described.
