Objectives : The purpose of this study was to report the clinical results of various medical methods (including Chuna joint mobilization) used to treat a single patient with polyneuritis. Methods : We treated a 46 year-old female patient diagnosed with polyneuritis using various methods, including acupuncture, moxibustion, infrared therapy, herbal medication, Western medication, Chuna manual therapy, and physical therapy. We evaluated the results using the numeric rating scale (NRS), manual muscle test (MMT), active range of motion (ROM), modified barthel index (MBI). Other evaluation scale included Deep tendon reflex and thickness of muscle especially forearm and lower leg. Results : Following treatment using a combination of the above methods, the general overall condition of the patients was significantly improved. Furthermore, the NRS, MMT, MBI, and the active ROM scores were numerically improved. Conclusions : In this case, a single patient with polyneuritis was treated using a combination of Korean and Western medical methods. Although this study provides useful insight into treatment methods, further studies are required to determine the treatment effects of Korean medicine, specifically Chuna manual therapy, in patients with polyneuritis.

Objectives This case study aimed to investigate the effect of complex Korean medicine therapy and fascia Chuna therapy on Osgood-Schlatter disease. Methods Hospitalization treatment was performed on a 13-year-old Osgood-Schlatter patient who visited Woosuk University Korean Medicine Hospital. The patient complained of pain in both the tibial tuberosity and restriction on the range of knee joint movement. The results were evaluated using the visual analogue scale, knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score, and range of motion. Results After treatment, knee pain decreased and range of movement angle improved. Conclusions This study suggests that complex Korean medicine therapy, including myofascial Chuna therapy, are effective in improving the range of motion and improving pain in early Osgood-Schlatter disease. The limitation of this study is that the subject of the study was limited to one case. Further clinical studies are required.

Objectives : This study was peformed to evaluate the effect of Chuna Traction, Correction and conservative treatment. Methods : The patient was diagnosed as cervical bulging disc, protrusion and Uncovertebral joint arthrosis through Cervical spine MRI and treated with conservative treatment(Chuna, Acupunture etc.). We measured Visual Analog Score(VAS) and Range Of Motion(ROM) to evaluate treatment effects. Results and Conclusions : ROM of Cervical spine has improved. VAS score was also decreased.

Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effects of Chuna treatment (Saban-method technique) on acute lumbar sprain patients with limited range of motion(LOM). Methods : Three patients suffered from acute lumbar sprain with LOM, were treated with Chuna therapy(Saban-method technique), acupuncture, herbal medicine, physical therapy and measured by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and ODI(Oswestry Disability Index). Results : After Chuna treatment and oriental medical treatments, we found out a recovery from three patients suffering from acute low back pain with LOM. Conclusions : Through this study, we suggest that Chuna treatment(Saban-method technique) and oriental medical treatments was effective to cure acute lumbar sprain patient with LOM.

The objective of this study is to report the effect of Chuna manipulation and foot orthosis treatment on juvenile, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis by observing four clinical case studies. Pre-and post-treatment, we investigated the changes in Cobb's angle, pelvic height and walking pattern by using the standing full spine X-ray. After application of a Chuna manipulation and foot orthosis treatment, Cobb's angle was reduced in 4 cases. Difference of pelvic height was reduced in 3 cases, and other 1 case was increased rather. And walking balance was improved in the case of measuring walking balance pattern. This study showed that Chuna manipulation and foot orthosis treatment has meaningful effect on juvenile, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and more researches should be followed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the scientific literature demonstrating the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy (CMT) in the treatment of spinal scoliosis. Methods : A literature search was conducted using eight electronic databases to identify all randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) that investigated CMT as a treatment for spinal scoliosis. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the methodological quality of each RCT. Results : Five RCTs met our inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. These studies demonstrated positive results of CMT with respect to the reduction of Cobb's angle, vertebral rotation angle score, bending test score, and efficacy rate compared with brace treatment. Positive results were also assured, in terms of the reduction of Cobb's angle, pulmonary function, and efficacy rate when comparing CMT combined with other therapy with brace treatment, gymnastic training, or traction therapy. Conclusions : This review has identified encouraging and limited evidence of CMT for the treatment of spinal scoliosis. However, to obtain stronger evidence, without the disadvantages of study design and quality, we recommend that treatment effectiveness of CMT for spinal scoliosis is investigated further using a well-designed RCT.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of chuna with and without acupuncture, and compare the effect of both group by VAS (visual analogue scale) and Cox menstrual symptom scale. Methods This study was carried out on 24 dysmenorrhea patients. 24 patients were divided into single treatment group(Group A) and combined treatment group (Group B). Group A treated with chuna. Group B treated with chuna and acupuncture. After performing chuna and acupuncture 8 weeks, we compared both in terms of VAS and Cox menstrual symptom scale. Results 1) Both group A and group B showed significant improvement in abdominal pain and lumbago after treatment. 2) Both group A and group B showed significant improvement in Cox menstrual symptom scale for both frequency and severity after treatment. 3) There were no significant differences between both groups. Conclusions According to above results, we found out that performing chuna with and without acupuncture has effect in terms of VAS and Cox menstrual symptom scale. But, we can't found out difference between single treatment and combined treatment.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare with the effect of general oriental medical treatment with or without ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy for acute ankle sprain. Methods : We investigated 36cases of ankle sprain patients, and devided patients into two groups: One was treated general oriental medical treatment(Control Group) and the other was treated ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy with general oriental medical treatment(Experimental Group). Results : 1. Each Group had significantly decrease in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and significantly increase in Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS) after treatment. 2. Experimental Group was significant differences in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS) compare to Control Group. Conclusions : In this clinical study, general oriental medical treatment with ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy was more effective in reduce ankle sprain pain and improve ankle joint function.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a clinical progress of treatment of fibromyalgia through Traditional Korean medicine treatment. A patient was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by clinical correlation on 2009 in Jeonnam university hospital, he had multi sited pain and severe muscle spasm. Methods : Between 27th march 2014 and 15th April 2014, he was treated with acupuncture, cupping, electro-acupuncture and chuna therapy every day and observed by visual analogue scale and assessment about number of pain site and square of pain. Results : After treated by using above treatment, VAS and assessment about number of pain site and square of pain were improved. Conclusions : Chuna therapy and other Traditional Korean medicine treatment are estimated to be good for fibromyalgia. But more cases are required to prove the effectiveness of chuna therapy on fibromyalgia.

Objectives : To report cases of HIVD of L-Spine successfully treated with Korean medical treatment including Samul-tang(Siwu-tang) Gagam. and Chuna manual treatment. Methods : Three patients diagnosed with HIVD of L-Spine were treated with Korean medical treatment including Samul-tang(Siwu-tang) Gagam and Chuna manual treatment. Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Oswestry low back pain Disablility Index(ODI) scores and EQ-5D were collected before and after treatment for comparison. Results : There was a significant decrease in NRS, ODI scores.And, there was a significant increase EQ-5D. The mean NRS score decresed from 10 to 1.33, ODI from 66.66 to 8.88. Tne mean EQ-5D score incresed from 0.225 to 0.856. Conclusion : The result suggests Korean medical treatment including Samul-tang(Siwu-tang) Gagam and Chuna manual treatment can be an effective treatment on patients with HIVD of L-Spine.
