급성 크롬산 중독으로 인한 다발성 장기 부전 1례 (A Case of Multi-organ Failure due to Acute Chromic Acid Poisoning)

  • Chromic acid is a strong metal acid and acute poisoning is very rare. However, chromic acid causes serious complications, such as skin injuries, as well as renal and hepatic failure. We report on a case of a 47-year-old male who accidentally had chromic acid spilled over his nose and face. For the first few days, he was treated with ascorbic acid and massive hydration. However, after three days, his condition began to worsen. He was treated with hemodialysis for anuria and acute renal failure, and antibiotics for pneumonia. On day 10 of hospitalization, he expired of multi-organ failure. We suggest firm control and close supervision of chromic acid in the work place, and, considering severe complications of chromic acid, we propose a nearly and aggressive treatment.

염소의 제 1위벽에 있어서 Chromic catgut, Polyglycolic acid 및 Nylon 봉합사에 대한 조직반응 (Tissue Reaction to Chromic catgut, Polyglycolic acid and Nylon Sutures in the Rumen Wall of Goats)

  • The each rumen of six goats was incised and sutured with chromic catgut, polyglycolic acid and nylon. Tissue reaction to each suture materials was observed and comared at the 7th, 14th and 21st post-operative days. The predominent inflammatory cells around suture materials are macrophages, fibroblast and neutrophils. A few lymphocytes was infiltrated around suture materials. Infiltration of neutrophils was rapidly diminished but infiltration of macrophages, fibroblasts and lymphocytes were persisted. The overall grade of tissue reaction varid by suture materials. At the 7th post-operative days, tissue reaction to chromic catgut was most prominant and that of polyglycolic acid and nylon was moderate. At the 14th and 21st postoperative days, tissue reaction to each suture materials was not greatly different.

Two Phase Oxidation of Aldehydes with Chromic Acid

  • The possibility of the two-phase oxidation of an aldehyde to carboxylic acid was studied. Thus the ether solutions of representative aldehydes (2.0M) were treated with 1.5 mole equivalent of chromic acid solution (1.0M) for 30 minutes at room temperature. Of the ten aldehydes tested,m butanal, benzaldehyde, tolualdehyde, o-, m-, p-nitrobenzaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde could be oxidized conveniently to the corresponding carboxylic acid giving an 80-90% yield. But furfural gave only a 30% yield of furoic acid and the oxidation of salicylaldehyde was unsuccessful.

  • 본 연구에서는 시판용 99.8% 금속알루미늄을 정전류 방식을 이용하여 황산, 수산, 인산 및 크롬산 전해조에서 양극산화를 행하여 다공성 알루미나 막을 제조하였다. 양극산화시 전해액의 종류에 따른 반응온도, 전해액의 농도 및 전류밀도에 따라 형성되는 다공성 알루미나 막의 세공직경과 분포, 막의 두께 및 형태와 결정구조를 조사함으로서 각 전해질 용액하에서의 최적 반응조건을 결정하고 우수한 다공성 알루미나 막을 제조하고자 하였다. 황산, 수산전해질하에서는 한외여과(Ultrafiltration)막이, 인산, 크롬산전해질하에서는 정밀여과(Microfiltration)막의 얻어짐을 알수 있었다. 황산, 수산 및 인산 전해조에서 제조된 막의 결정구조는 무정형임을 알 수 있으며, 크롬산 전해조에서 제조된 막은 ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$의 결정구조를 보이고 있다.

알루미늄 6061 합금의 표면 나노 구조물 변화에 따른 방빙 특성 연구 (Anti-Icing Characteristics of Aluminum 6061 Alloys According to Surface Nanostructure)

  • Recently, aluminum 6061 instead of copper alloy is used for cooling heat exchangers used in the internal combustion of engines due to its economic feasibility, lightweight, and excellent thermal conductivity. In this study, aluminum 6061 alloy was anodized with oxalic acid, phosphoric acid, or chromic acid as an anodizing electrolyte at the same concentration of 0.3 M. After the third anodization, FDTS, a material with low surface energy, was coated to compare hydrophobic properties and anti-icing characteristics. Aluminum was converted into an anodization film after anodization on the surface, which was confirmed through Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). Pore distance, interpore distance, anodization film thickness, and solid fraction were measured with a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). For anti-icing, hydrophobic surfaces were anodized with oxalic acid, phosphoric acid, or chromic acid solution. The sample anodized in oxalic acid had the lowest solid fraction. It had the highest contact angle for water droplets and the lowest contact hysteresis angle. The anti-icing contact angle showed a tendency to decrease for specimens in all solutions.

생체내 이식된 흡수성 봉합사들의 물리적 성질 변화와 조직 소견에 관한 연구 (The Mechanical Appearances and Microscopic Tissue Reactions of the Suture Materials in vivo)

  • A comparative study of three absorbable suture materials of chromic catgut, Dexon II (a polyglycolic acid suture with a polycaprolate coating system) and Coated Vicryl (a polyglactin 910 suture with a glycolide-lactide-calcium stearate coating system) was undertaken in terms of tensile strength, breaking elongation, appearances of the suture materials in the subcutaneous layer of rats and of tissue reaction in the intramuscular layer of rats. The initial tensile strength of chromic catgut and the tensile strength after 21 days were about 1.55 kg and 0.19 kg, respectively. Those of Dexon II were about 2.01 kg and 0. 20 kg, respectively. Those of Coated Vicryl were about 2.39 kg and 0.48 kg, respectively. Coated Vicryl showed the highest tensile strength among the three materials during the whole period. On the other hand, Dexon II showed the highest breaking elongation among the three materials during the first week. But the breaking elongation of Dexon II rapidly continuously decreased during the whole period. The appearances of the suture materials in the subcutaneous layer of rats showed that chromic catgut was the fastest among the three materials, whereas it formed comparatively much connective tissue. The intramuscular absorption rate and tissue reaction of Dexon II were similar to those of Coated Vicryl. The intramuscular absorption rate of these was fairly late when compared with chromic catgut. And the tissue reaction appearance of these showed the formation of a granuloma with foreign body giant cells, macrothages and epitheloid cells by the 28th day in the experimental period.

흑크롬 태양광 선택흡수막 제조용 도금액의 개발 및 전기화학적 고찰 (An Electrochemical Study on the New Black Chrome Bath Solution for the Electrodeposited Solar Selective Surface)

  • 태양에너지 이용시스템 개발에 있어서 태양열을 효율적으로 이용하기 위한 태양광의 선택흡수막의 제조시 가장 중요한 것이 선택흡수막의 파장별 광학적 특성이다. 이러한 광학적 특성은 전기도금액의 조성에 따라 달라지고 전기도금 방법의 선택 및 도금조건에 따라 영향을 받게 된다. 본 연구에서는 미국에서 개발되고 가장 널리 사용되는 ChromOnyx 도금액을 근거로 새로이 Chromic acid-Propionic acid 흑크름 도금액을 제조하였으며 액을 구성하고 있는 성분별 전기화학적 역할을 고찰하였다. 실제 전기도금법에 의해 제작된 흑크름 선택 흡수막의 광학적특성에 관한 연구는 다시 상세히 다루어 발표할 예정이다.

Effects of Casein and Protein-free Diets on Endogenous Amino Acid Losses in Pigs

  • Quantification of endogenous amino acid loss at the terminal ileum is an essential means for calculation of the true amino acid digestibility of a feedstuff. Since nitrogen appeared in the determined diet or not could shift the results very much, also, none of digestibility markers could be recovered with 100% rate at the terminal ileum, the objectives of the present study were: (1) to determine endogenous amino acid losses when fed either a casein diet or a protein-free diet and (2) to examine the reliability of chromic oxide or acid insoluble ash in the protein-free diet. Six ileal-cannulated pigs ($65{\pm}1.85 kg$ BW) with a simple T-cannula in the terminal ileum were used in a replicated $3{\times}3$ Latin square designed trial, after allowed a 14 d recuperation period. Each test period ran for 12 days comprised of a 10 d adjustment period and a 2 d collection period. The endogenous AA losses of His, Ile, Lys, Cys, Thr, Val, Trp, Asp, Glu, and Ser from pigs fed the casein diet were significantly higher than those of the protein-free diet (p<0.05). No significant difference was found in the amount of endogenous amino acid loss when determined with the different markers in the protein-free diet (p>0.05). These data suggest that endogenous amino acid loss could be underestimated when a protein-free diet is used. A direct effect of dietary peptides on the endogenous amino acid loss was found when the casein diet was fed. Our results also indicate that acid insoluble ash can be used as an inert marker as an alternative to chromic oxide when measuring endogenous amino acid loss.

ABS 수지상의 도금층 형성을 위한 에칭 방법 연구 (Study of Etching Method for Plating Layer Formation of ABS Resin)

  • In the present study, we successfully developed an eco-friendly chemical etching solution and proper condition for plating on ABS material. The mechanism of forming Ni plating layer on ABS substrate is known as following. In general, the etching solution used for the etching process is a solution of chromic acid and sulfuric acid. The etching solution is given to the surface resulting in elution of butadiene group, so-called anchor effect. Such a rough surface can easily adsorb catalyst resulting in the increase of adhesion between ABS substrate and Ni plating layer. However a use of chromic acid is harmful to environment. It is, therefore, essential to develop a new alternative solution. In the present study, we proposed an eco-friendly etching solution composed of potassium permanganate, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. This solution was testified to observe the surface microstructure and the pore size of electrical Ni plating layer, and the adhesive correlation between deposited layers fabricated by electro Ni plating was confirmed. The result of the present study, the newly developed, eco-friendly etching solution, which is a mixture of potassium permanganate 25 g/L, sulfuric acid 650ml/L and phosphoric acid 250ml/L, has a similar etching effect and adhesion property, compared with the commercially used chromium acid solution in the condition at $70^{\circ}C$ for 5 min.
