  • Color conversion technology using unique color conversion film for OLED back light was developed to achieve renovative performance for high- end display. It can reduce the production cost more than 20% due to cheaper cost for blue OLED and conversion film and also has a free chromaticity control capability for 10% raising color gamut with respect to LCD color filter. The OLED BLU by color conversion technology also shows excellent performances such as chromaticity stability. White efficiency using PLF + Blue OLED is 17cd/A@4.4V, CIExy(0.29, 0.31).

  • The still image and video of the same scene taken under various condition show different color, and the most important factor of capture condition is scene illuminant. The average color of contents is determined along the color temperature of scene illuminant, the method for conversion of scene illuminant chromaticity is needed. In this paper, the method for converting the scene illuminant chromaticity from arbitrary correlated color temperature to another arbitrary one is proposed. Conventional method only defines several set of color temperature conversion that can be evaluated as representative ones. The proposed method has the merit of calculating the conversion function directly from arbitrary color temperature to another one.

  • Yellow phosphor dispersed color conversion glasses are promising phosphor materials for white LED applications because of their good thermal durability, chemical stability, and anti-ultraviolet property. Six color conversion glasses were prepared with high Tg and low Tg specimens of glass. Luminous efficacy, luminance, CIE (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage) chromaticity, CCT (Correlated Color Temperature), and CRI (Color Rendering Index) of the color conversion glasses were analyzed according to the PL spectrum. Color conversion glasses with high Tg glass frit, sintered at higher temperature, showed better luminous properties than did color conversion glasses with low Tg glass frit. The characteristics of the color conversion glass depended on the glass composition rather than on the sintering temperature. The XRD peaks of the YAG phosphor disappeared in the color conversion glass with major components of $B_2O_3$-ZnO-$SiO_2$-CaO and, in the XRD results, new crystalline peaks of $BaSi_2O_5$ appeared in the color conversion glass with major components of $Bi_2O_3$-ZnO-$B_2O_3$-MgO. The characteristics of CIE chromaticity, CCT, and the CRI of low Tg color conversion glasses showed worse color properties than those of high Tg color conversion glasses. However, these color characteristics of low Tg glasses were improved by thickness variation. So color conversion glasses with good characteristics of both luminous and color properties were attained.

  • In this Paper, we propose the color-temperature conversion method using an one-dimensional illuminant chromaticity. It also presents the design and the implementation of the proposed method. The performance of the method is compared with that of two-dimensional conversion method in Robertson's algorithm based on calculated color temperatures. The proposed method is demonstrated experimentally for color temperatures in the range of 3,000OK to 25,000OK with the Xilinx Virtex-E FPGA XCV2000E-6BG560.

  • Picture Quality Improvement Systems(PQIS) have been developed for user's needs with the development of display technology. Most PQIS change the all input data, so there were some color distortion. In order to compensate such problems, the PQIS using Skin Protection Algorithm(SPA) have been proposed. But the PQIS using SPA is performed simplex color emphasis, as a result occurred color saturation and decoloration. In this paper, we proposed the modified PQIS using SPA on CIE 1976 u'v' chromaticity coordinate. The modified method operated chromaticity extension and reduction at the same time about brightness value to prevent the saturation and decoloration. We evaluated by comparing the conventional method with the proposed method of RGB Gamut variation rate using 42 test image.

  • In this paper, we propose the color-temperature conversion system with compensated X-chromaticity coordinate. It uses a linear regression to improve the error of color-temperatue calculation in conventional systems. It also extend the color-temperature range from 1,667K to 25,000K to Provide a wider color-temperature range. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method by comparing the performance of the proposed method with those of the Robertson's and the existing methods. The proposed method is experimetally verified by displaying the results on a TV system through the Xilinx FPGA XCV2000E-BG560.

  • In this paper, we desire to design real time image processing system to change a various chromaticity in HDTV that has 1344*806 resolution and requires a high-speed 65MHz operation. In order to change the image chromaticity, it is necessary to calculate the color temperature of the image. Conventional way of calculating the temperature uses 2-D algorithm [1] that requires bulky hardware. This paper propose a one-dimensional color-temperature conversion that reduces the hardware complexity while keeping the performance of the 2-D algorithm. The proposed method is realized by using the Xilinx Virtex FPGA XCV 2000E-6BG560.

  • A phosphor-conversion white light source is demonstrated using an InGaN-based blue laser diode (LD) and a yellow-emitting phosphor excited by the blue LD. The photometric and colorimetric properties of this blue-LD-based white light source are characterized. When injection current of the LD is 100 mA, luminous flux and luminous efficiency of the white light are found to be over 5 lm and 10 lm/W, respectively. When injection current is >90 mA, luminance is estimated to be larger than 10 Mcd/$cm^2$. In addition, color characteristics of the white light such as chromaticity coordinates, a correlated color temperature, and a color rendering index are found to be quite stable as current and temperature of the LD varies. The demonstrated LD-based white light source is expected to be used in high-brightness illumination applications with good color stability.

  • An efficient color compensation method is proposed to reduce the color difference between the camera based inspection system and the colorimeter based inspection system in a plasma display panel production line. The color compensation matrix can be constructed by using the relationship between RGB to XYZ conversion matrices, which are obtained by the RGB primaries and reference white chromaticity coordinates. Experimental results show that the non-contact color inspection system using the proposed color compensation method satisfactorily compensates the chromaticity coordinates acquired by the area color CCD camera to be matched to those measured by the colorimeter for various test color.
