  • Recently, Plastic optical products are widely used. Injection molding process has advantages of low cost and high productivity. However, it remains a residual birefringence and residual stress by difference cooling. The present study focused on measuring birefringence in optical plastic parts using interference color pattern. The main idea of an analysis comes from chromatic aberration which is caused by difference light wavelengths. As a result, a complete system measuring the high order 2-D birefringence pattern was built. Further investigation is under way to improve the accuracy of birefringence measurement system by diode laser.

Performance Analysis of Chromatic Dispersion Compensation of a Chirped Fiber Grating on a Differential Phase-shift-keyed Transmission

  • The properties of the chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) as a chromatic dispersion compensator in differential phase-shift-keyed (DPSK) transmission are analyzed. Comparisons of a performance of a CFBG in between DPSK and On-Off Key (OOK) are shown by simulations using the commercial numerical modeling software, $OptSim^{TM}$. In the simulation, we compared the performance of the CFBG when they were used in the RZ-OOK 40 Gbps and the RZ-DPSK 40 Gbps transmission. The simulation results show the performance of an overall transmission with a CFBG in DPSK is inferior to the case of OOK, although DPSK generally has a 3 dB higher SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) than OOK.

An Electronic Domain Chromatic Dispersion Monitoring Scheme Insensitive to OSNR Using Kurtosis

  • In this paper we present an electronic domain solution for chromatic dispersion (CD) monitoring algorithm based on the estimated time domain channel in electronic domain using channel estimation methods. The proposed scheme utilizes kurtosis as a CD measurement, directly computed from the estimated inter-symbol-interference (ISI) channel due to the CD distortion. Hence, the proposed scheme exhibits robust performance under OSNR variation, in contrast to the existing electronic domain approach based on minimum mean squared error (MMSE) fractionally-spaced equalizer taps [1]. The simulation results verify the CD monitoring ability of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, the Augmented graph Es(τ) of the inverse graph Gs(τ) of a cyclic group (τ,◦) was studied. The Augmented inverse graph was constructed by applying the method of Mycielski's construction. The dimension of Augmented inverse graph and different properties of the graph were investigated. Later the chromatic number of Augmented inverse graph was discussed and the relation between the maximum degree of the graph and the chromatic number was established. In the Mycielski's construction, the properties of the key node 'u' in Es (τ) were established based on cardinality of the cyclic group (τ,◦) and also proved that the Augmented inverse graph Es(τ) was a triangle free graph.

  • TV와 PC 모니터와 같은 컬러 디스플레이 장치 사용하는 실제 시환경은 표준 시환경과 상당히 다르다. 주위 시환경의 휘도와 색도의 변화에 따라 인간 시각계는 색 순응이 일어나게 되고, 사용자는 디스플레이 상에 재현된 측색적으로 동일한 색을 서로 다르게 느끼게 된다. 따라서 디스플레이에 재현된 색이 표준 시환경 하에서의 원래 색과 동일하게 재현하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 동일한 휘도 조건에서 주위 조명광의 색도 변화에 따른 색 순응 모델을 제안한다. 제안한 색 순응 모델은 주위 시환경의 휘도 조건과 색도에 따라 시 세포의 L, M, 및 S 에 대한 감도의 이득을 모두 비선형 함수로 구한다. 그리고 제안한 색 순응 모델의 최적 이득 계수 값은 Breneman 색 순응 실험의 대응색 데이터들로부터 구한다. 제안한 색 순응 모델과 기존 모델들의 성능을 평가해 본 결과, 제안 방식의 색 순응 모델이 기존의 모델에 비해서 전 휘도 조건에서 매우 우수한 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다. 또한, 실제 시환경하에서 제안한 색 순응 모델을 이용하여 재현한 대응색이 표준 시환경 하에서의 원래의 색과 동일하게 보이는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we proposed a digital watermarking for color still image using the characteristics of human visual system and the achromatic block information. We use a binary watermark signal and insert watermark signal in the chromatic component region of YCrCb color space. In order to extract the watermark signal, we extracted the watermark signal by presuming that modified pattern of chromatic saturation without using original an image. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking method has a good performance to embed watermark signal and extract one.

  • Giving a planar graph G, let $x^'_l(G)$ and $x^{''}_l(G)$ denote the list edge chromatic number and list total chromatic number of G respectively. It is proved that if a planar graph G without 6-cycles with chord, then $x^'_l(G){\leq}{\Delta}(G)+1$ and $x^{''}_l(G){\leq}{\Delta}(G)+2$ where ${\Delta}(G){\geq}6$.

  • In this paper, we introduce the arrangement of hyperplanes and the graph theory. In particular, we explain how to study the 4-color problem by using characteristic polynomials of the arrangement of hyperplanes. The 4-color problem was appeared in 1852 at first and Appel and Haken proved it by using computer in 1976. The arrangement of hyperplanes induced from a graph is called a graphic arrangement. Graphic arrangement is a subarrangement of Braid arrangement. Thus the chromatic function of a graph is equal to the characteristic polynomial of a graphic arrangement. If we use this result, we can apply the theory of the arrangement of hyperplanes to the study for the chromatic functions.

  • In this paper, The Influence of chromatic fiber dispersion on the transmission distance of MMW(millimeter-wave) link is analyzed and discussed. It is shown that dispersion significantly limits the transmission distance in intensity modulated direct detection and heterodyne links operating in the above 20㎓ frequency region by inducing a carrier to noise penalty on the transmitted signal. We analyze and discuss the influence of dispersion induced CNR(Carrier to Noise Ratio) penalty for direct detection and heterodyne method from simulation.
