  • This paper analysis Daesoon thoughts of three essence Sung, Kyoung, Sin in the traditional confucianism emphasis in the distinct ethical implications of religious meaning. Daesoon thoughts basically background on the supreme god sangje of religious faith. Here's sangje is as Daesoonjinrihoe religious order of the supreme god, to achieve the human religious daeyeoksa come world ingyeoksin which means gangjeungsan. Thus, Daesunjinri start come world gangjeungsan which is believe sangje, as Tenet. Faith and purpose degree all around having religious denomination, see based on the attitude of religious faith. So Daesunjinri of tenet doctrine that corresponds to the three essence which is Sung, Kyoung, Sin of understand also need to explanation is based on religious attitude. Three essence is three important truth or meaning of three important clause, to possess all the religious attitude of Christian said. Always said to hearty funeral of hearts (誠), the fear of spirits and honor the Emperor(敬), one strong gangjeungsan do not doubt believed that the Emperor(信) is that. Thus in the text, Daesoon thoughts of Sung, Kyoung. Sin as by analyzing the religious dimension, Daesunjinri is to achieve the tenet doctrine.   • This study attempted to find a Christian religious alternative to the seriousness of the problem of low birth rate which has become a national and social problem, and its alternative. Korea is a low birth rate country. The phenomenon of low birth rate and childbirth avoidance is a reality that not only are national problems but also Korean churches are experiencing serious problems, and will continue to affect them. It will affect the church in four major ways. First, is a sharp decline in the number of members. Second, is the decline of Sunday schools. Third, various family problems and generational conflicts will arise. And it brings problems such as a crisis of faith among members. Young people living today have an unconventional attitude toward marriage, childbirth, and parenting. But for Christians, childbirth is a way of living in that God blessed us to "be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth." In other words, childbirth must be recognized as a blessing from God, not a human decision. Therefore, we must know how precious the fetus is in front of God and that it is a precious life. Thus, we should be interested in how to nurture the life God has given. To do so the church's role is education is to shape the value of life from a biblical perspective. Therefore the church needs to see how the Christian faith of young and married couples who are about to marry, give birth, and raise children, affects the childbirth and rearing of children. And it is necessary to study what the role of church and Christian education is to solve the problem of low birth rate and to suggest alternatives. For this study, we will first identify the factors of low birth rate. Then we will confirm childbirth and the blessing of God through the Bible. Finally, the role of the church in low birth rate and educational alternatives will be presented.

A Study on a Philosophical Foundation of Intergenerational Christian Education : The Significance of Reciprocity and Participation (세대통합 기독교교육의 철학적 토대에 관한 연구 : 호혜성과 참여를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore implications for intergenerational Christian education in Korean churches and families that struggle with "generational fragmentations" focusing on the conception of reciprocity and participation. For the faith community in Korea, "generational fragmentations" does not merely mean communication gaps or the disconnection between generations but also the absence of reciprocity and communal participation as a genuine intergenerational community of faith. With this phenomenon in mind, this study explores the concept of "intergenerationality" in education, focusing on reciprocity and participation. Next, this study examines the concepts of reciprocity and participation found in John Dewey's seminal works, Democracy and Education and Experience and Education based on his ideas of democracy and experience in relation to intergenerational Christian education for the Korean church and families. The present paper then attempts to find implications for intergenerational Christian education in the Korean church and family, showing the importance of an intergenerational community of faith with reciprocity and communal participation, and communal spiritual journey with children and adults.

Towards Intercultural Christian Education: A Christian Educational Response to Multicultural Phenomenon in the South Korean Context (상호문화적 기독교교육: 한국의 다문화현상에 대한 기독교교육적 응답)

  • In South Korea which has become a multicultural society, ethnic and cultural others have suffered from discrimination against them and isolation from society. Multicultural policies and multicultural public education have simply focused on the assimilation of cultural others without providing opportunities to build a reciprocal relationship between Kor eans and cultural others. Noting this reality, this paper proposes intercultural Christian education as a prophetic and educational role of faith communities in society. Intercultural education, intercultural theology, Miroslav Volf's drama of embrace, and Sang-Jin Park's theory of the ecosystem of Christian education offer theoretical foundations for intercultural Christian education. Based on these foundations, the paper discusses the definition and goal of intercultural Christian education and argues for the roles of intercultural Christian education to help Christ ians "SEE" the self, the other, and the community through self-reflection, embrace, and ecological transformation. As intercultural Christian education pursues to nurture Christians to have a respectful and hospitable mindset toward cultural others, such education will help faith communities seek a multi-colored kingdom of God.

Reconceptualization of Catechesis for Forming Holistic Faith (통전적 신앙형성을 위한 교리교육의 재개념화)

  • This essay aims to seek an alternative model of catechesis, as this form of education faces various challenges from the Korean Church especially during COVID-19 pandemic. For a long time, catechesis in the Korean Church narrowly focused on the act of producing Christians who would be loyal to the local church, rather than focusing on nurturing members loyal to Christ, an issue that has been problematized in recent publications on catechesis. Thus, the loss of social trust in the Korean Church and the decline of its public image exemplify how this type of catechesis as disciple-making for local church's benefit, mostly nurtures a vertical dimension of faith. The current teaching and learning method mostly employs a unilateral transfer of doctrine from the teacher to the learner and emphasizes the memorization of doctrine. This type of instruction renders the catechesis as the most lackluster and outdated form of Christian education. This essay aims to reconceptualize the traditional model of catechesis. This essay first critically evaluates current situations of catechesis and presents several alternative meanings on the concept of doctrine. Then it explores the theories of catechesis through different models posed by Christian educators such as John Westerhoff III and Richard Osmer. The final section is devoted to presenting an alternative form of catechesis that focuses on seeking holistic faith.

Study on the Application of Christian Education by Zeraim, Jewish Talmud (유대교 탈무드 제라임(Zeraim)의 기독교교육 적용방안에 대한 연구)

  • In the 21st century, Our Korean churches should be reborn and truly restored in the situation korean churches have been criticized socially and adversely affected Christian missions. In this situation, the researcher analyzed the Zeraim(Agriculture) of the Jewish scripture Talmud as an alternative to solving the problems of the Korean church. In order to achieve the purpose of this research, the background of the emergence of Talmud, the main contents of Talmud Zeraim, and the application of Talmud Zeraim's Christian education were divided and analyzed. Through the Jewish Talmud Zeraim, five possibilities of application were suggested to solve the problems of Korean churches. First, it is a Christian education for a blessed life. Second, it is a Christian education that pursues social justice, life, and integrity of creation. Third, it is Christian education for a life that appreciates God's grace. Fourth, it is a Christian education for realizing the commandments and practicing the teachings. Fifth, it is a Christian education that pursues conventional spirituality. Researchers believe that the mission and direction of Christian education without losing their identity and faith under the numerous hardships in history should be found in the faith and life of Jews who have regained their traditional spirituality centered on the law (Torah) and Talmud which are the God's words. From now on, the Korean church should boldly clear up its mistakes and move on to education that humbly accepts the sounds of social criticism and can make a fresh recovery.

Analysis of influence and factors of Christian characters (기독교인성의 영향력과 요인들에 대한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the Christian characters of Korean church members. In addition, this study also examined the virtues and measurement index of Christian characters, general factors of church members and relationship between 9 virtues of Christian characters of church members and related influences. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted with one to one interview through the assistance of church officials. The results based on the survey showed no significant differences in Christian characters according to the personal factors and church factors. However, it was identified that the church satisfaction among the church factors affected the Christian character. In order to improve the negative image of Korean church through this study, this study tries to show the relationship with Christian characters and the importance of Christian characters in the church and to suggest the necessity of education. This study seeks to review the correlation that the faith of Korean Christians, their status and title within the church, length of year they've had faith and their satisfaction with church life have with their well-rounded character as a Christian, what factors or values affect the personality of Christians in Korean chruches, and what programs or action steps can be taken to provide the most optimal and feasible way to promote a better well-rounded character in Korean Christians.

Understanding of Resilience and Its Application through Small Group Activities in Christian Universities (자아탄력성의 이해와 기독교대학에서의 소그룹 활동을 통한 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the correlation between elements of resilience and small group activities in the university, and to explore small group activities as a protective and a positive factor in controlling the stress of college students. As the first part of the study, positive roles of resilience to the stress of college students and the elements that promote the efficiency of resilience are analyzed. The study precedent in detail and four elements of resilience are presented as following; optimistic realism, vitality, ability to control emotion, and interpersonal ability, addressing the faith in God is one of the strong positive factors for developing resilience. Then, this study deals with how the four elements of resilience relates to the characteristics of small group activities. In conclusion, this study suggests Christian universities to develop small group activities because they can develop each of the four elements of resilience of college students. Christian universities have a missional duty and the responsibility to help college students experience real happiness in their lives. Therefore, if Christian universities understand the effectiveness of resilience of college students and find out the correlation between resilience and faith, they can help students not only to live a positive life in their generation, but also to experience the authentic happiness.

The Study on the Application Plan of democratic citizenship education for Christian Education in the era of Climate Crisis (기후 위기 시대에 기독교 교육을 위한 민주시민교육의 적용방안)

  • The climate crisis threatens Earth's ecosystems and biodiversity. In particular, it can be said that the cause of the global crisis began with human greed. An educational alternative is needed to change the Christian worldview that causes greed. The purpose of this study is to find ways to apply democratic citizenship education to Christian education as an alternative to overcome the climate crisis. The contents of the study to achieve the purpose were first the essence of Christian citizenship education was examined by dividing it into citizenship education, democratic citizenship education, and Christian citizenship education. Second, The model of democratic citizenship education was established by defining its goals, content, methods, and directions within the context of Christian citizenship education. Third, the application plan of Christian education for democratic citizenship education was classified into 7 categories and proposed; environmental education to overcome the climate crisis, ethical education to restore the public role of the church, education to form God's character, education to realize the village education community, education that promotes Christ's peace and Christ education that fosters consideration for multicultural individuals, and literacy education to prevent the negative impacts of digital media culture. Next, the plan to apply democratic citizenship education to Christian education is, first, to reduce human greed and restore God's creation order through environmental education that can overcome the climate crisis. Second, through ethics education to restore the church's public nature, it is necessary to restore the church's role for the church's moral empathy and publicity. Third, through the education that forms the God's character, it is necessary to form a mature character of faith in which personality and faith are harmonious and balanced. Fourth, schools, villages, and churches form a community through education that realizes a village education community so that the members of the village can obtain educational results. Fifth, through education that aims for the peace of the God Christians should be able to live as Christian democratic citizens who achieve peace in the kingdom of God. Sixth, through education that considers multicultural people, faith education that helps them overcome discrimination, exclusion, and hatred toward multicultural people with the love of Jesus Christ and seek a life of coexistence. Seventh, through literacy education that prevents the harmful effects of digital media culture, personal ability to read and write in media should ultimately be improved to the ability to practice socially.

Effects of Religious Activities and Faith Attitudes on Depression and Ego-Integrity of the Elderly (노인의 종교활동과 신앙태도가 우울 및 자아통합감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the differences of the religious activities, faith attitudes, depression and ego-integrity by the elderly's demographic characteristics. In addition, this study analyzed the effects of the elderly's religious activities and faith attitudes on depression and ego-integrity. The survey was conducted from May 4 to 25, 2013 among the aged 60 or older with Christian faith in the Seoul metropolitan areas. And 408 responses were used in the data analysis. As a summary of the results, first, there were partially differences in religious activities, faith attitudes, depression, and ego-integrity by the elderly's demographic characteristics. Second, the subjective religious activities and faith attitudes had a negative effect on depression factor, and all factors of the religious activities had a negative effect on anti-vitality factor of the elderly. Third, the subjective religious activities had a positive effect on the attitude about life and acceptance of death, and the organizational religious activities had a positive effect on the acceptance of aging. Also, all factors of the religious activities had a positive effect on the satisfaction of the present life.
