  • The properties of a toric variety have strong connection with the combinatorial structure of the corresponding fan and the rela-tions among the generators. Using this fact we have described explic-itly the Chow ring for a Q-factorial toric variety as the Stanley-Reisner ring for the corresponding fan modulo the linear equivalence relation. In this paper we calculate the Chow ring for 3-dimensional Q-factorial toric varieties having one bad isolated singularity.

  • In this paper we will show that the followings ; (1) Let R be a regular local ring of dimension n. Then $A_{n-2}$(R) = 0. (2) Let R be a regular local ring of dimension n and I be an ideal in R of height 3 such that R/I is a Gorenstein ring. Then [I] = 0 in $A_{n-3}$(R). (3) Let R = V[[ $X_1$, $X_2$, …, $X_{5}$ ]]/(p+ $X_1$$^{t1}$ + $X_2$$^{t2}$ + $X_3$$^{t3}$ + $X_4$$^2$+ $X_{5}$ $^2$/), where p $\neq$2, $t_1$, $t_2$, $t_3$ are arbitrary positive integers and V is a complete discrete valuation ring with (p) = mv. Assume that R/m is algebraically closed. Then all the Chow group for R is 0 except the last Chow group.group.oup.

A Study on the Application of Time Distribution Model for Design Storms (설계강우의 시간적 분포모형 적용성 연구)

  • The historical data from 3, 550 event storms during 11 years in Wi-stream basin have been used to investigate the statistical parameter of the time distribution for design storms by the method of Yen-Chow, Huff, Pilgrim-Cordery and Mononobe. The dimensionless value of triangular hyetograph, $a^0$, ranges from 0.44 to 0.50 and trapezoidal hyetograph, $h^0$, value increases as the duration time is getting longer in Yen-Chow method. In the Huff, the second-quartile storms occurred most frequently and third-quartile storms occurred most infrequently. In the Pilgrim-Cordery, the shapes for shorter than 6-hour durations are advanced tendency. However, for longer than 6-hour durations show delayed tendency. In the Mononobe, every one hour rainfall occured Centered Type. The application of these methods for each duration time was tested by using the observed rainfall-runoff data of Wi-stream basin. As a result, the reappearance of hydrographs of triangular hyetograph by Yen-Chow method showed promising, and it was approved to be used for prediction of the ungaged basins.

Lightweight AES-based Whitebox Cryptography for Secure Internet of Things (안전한 사물인터넷을 위한 AES 기반 경량 화이트박스 암호 기법)

  • White-box cryptography can respond to white-box attacks that can access and modify memory by safely hiding keys in the lookup table. However, because the size of lookup tables is large and the speed of encryption is slow, it is difficult to apply them to devices that require real-time while having limited resources, such as IoT(Internet of Things) devices. In this work, we propose a scheme for collecting short-length plaintexts and processing them at once, utilizing the characteristics that white-box ciphers process encryption on a lookup table size basis. As a result of comparing the proposed method, assuming that the table sizes of the Chow and XiaoLai schemes were 720KB(Kilobytes) and 18,000KB, respectively, memory usage reduced by about 29.9% and 1.24% on average in the Chow and XiaoLai schemes. The latency was decreased by about 3.36% and about 2.6% on average in the Chow and XiaoLai schemes, respectively, at a Traffic Load Rate of 15 Mbps(Mega bit per second) or higher.

A Stability Test of the Regression Coefficients for the Linear Models using Chow Test (차우검정을 활용한 선형회귀모형간 유사성 검증)

  • In this research, we tried to check the applicability of a Chow test to the linear models which are generated in the process of transportation planning or traffic flow analyses. The Chow test is a very popular statistical method which is being used to see if the coefficients from two separate linear regression models are equal or not. In order to prove the effectiveness of the Chow test, we found the linear relationships between speed and density under the situations such as driving in daytime and in nighttime on a rainy day. Based on the two months of Joong-Bu Expressway traffic data, we proved that the Chow test is useful to testify the similarity between two linear regression models. And this statistical tool seems to be able to have a very important role in traffic flow analysis or in transportation planning process. Finally, we expect the Chow test be implemented even to the non-linear regression models or to the multi-variate models.

Estimating Quarterly GRDP Using Benchmarking Method (벤치마킹방법을 이용한 분기 GRDP의 추정)

  • Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is regarded as an essential information to understand regional economy. However, GRDP is hardly used for establishment of regional economic plan and related statistical research due to its late and yearly publication. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate quarterly GRDP to grasp the current regional economy faster In this study, considering the comovement between GDP and GRDP for the same industry, reference series are made. Quarterly GRDP is estimated the following two steps; First, preliminary quarterly GRDP is estimated using Chow-Lin's method based on the reference series to eliminate temporal discrepancies. Second, preliminary quarterly GRDP is adjusted using Denton's multivariate method to eliminate contemporaneous discrepancies.

The Effects of Coix Bran on Lipid Metabolism and Glucose Challenge in Hyperlipidemic and Diabetic Rats (율무겨 급여가 고지혈증 및 당뇨유발 백서의 지질대사와 당내성에 미치는 영향)

  • Even though coix (Coix lachryma-jobi L. var. ma-yuen) has many physiological effects, since it has been known to cause sterility, farmers avoid using coix bran as a forage for their livestock. Therefore, as the consumption of coix increases, coix bran, which is a by product of pounding process, becomes a serious issue of environmental problem. Present study examined the physiological effects of coix bran in normal and diabetic rats for its possible use as a functional material. The effects of coix bran supplementation on plasma and hepatic lipid profile were evaluated in rats fed one of the following diet for 12 weeks : chow diet ; chow-bran diet (chow diet+25% coix bran), high fat diet and high fat-bran diet (high fat diet+25% coix bran). Additionally, glucose challenge and lipid metabolism in streptozotocin-diabetic rats were also examined. In normal rats, consumption of coix bran remarkably reduced body weight gain in chow or high fat diet fed rats. Additionally, consumption of coix branreduced blood TG, TC and atherogenic index (26%, 24% and 72%, respectively) in chow diet fed rats. Liver TG and cholesterol concentrations were reduced (43% and 49%, respectively) in high fat fed rats by coix bran supplementation. In diabetic rats, fasting blood glucose level was reduced about 25% by coix bran consumption. Also, glucose challenge pattern was improved and resembled normal pattern : it reaches to peak 15~30 minutes after glucose administration and get back to fasting blood glucose level after 90 minutes. Plasma concentrations of TG were elevated in diabetic rats and were reduced to normal level by coix bran supplementation. Liver TG and cholesterol concentrations were also elevated in diabetic rats and reduced to normal level by consumption of coix bran. These results suggest that coix bran may have beneficial effects on blood lipid and glucose level in normal and diabetic rats.

Determinants of Korea's Trade before and after the 2008 Financial Crisis Activating Augmented Gravity Model (중력모형을 이용한 2008년 금융위기 전후 한국의 교역결정요인 분석)

  • This research analyzes the determinants of Korea's trade using the Gravity model, Chow test and panel data anaysis. According to the pooled panel OLS analysis using the gravity model and Chow-test, Korea's trade patterns before and after the 2008 financial crisis are heterogeneous. Variables of basic gravity model, GDP per capita, distance, and population, identically showed positive and significant correlation with trade volume before and after financial crisis, but also equally showed the decrease in absolute value of coefficient. On the other hands, Overseas Direct Investments(ODI) variable showed the increase in absolute value of coefficient. But TCI was no longer significant. This research is significant in that it is able to show the strategy for the long term growth in Korea's volume of international trade through econometric analysis based on data of 55 trading partner of Korea.

  • This paper presents a new two-stage randomized response model to protect greater privacy of respondents for the sensitive characters. The conditions when the proposed model will be more efficient than Warner model, Liu-Chow's multiple trial model and Mangat-Singh model have been obtained for the case when the respondents are truthful in their answer, and the efficiency of the proposed model is also compared with Warner model, Liu-Chow's multiple trial model and Mangat-Singh model.
