Two dominant components of polar motion are the Chandler and the annual components. Recently, the existence of 500-day period component in the Earth's polar motion has been manifested. But its existence is not clear on Fourier spectrum. One cause of difficulty involved here is that the amplitudes of the two main components are slightly variable in time by certain amounts (Chandler: 0.15~0.28 arcsec, annual: 0.09~0.15 arcsec). A residual polar motion time series excluding the two main components for a time span between 1962 Jan and 2010 Nov from IERS C04 time series dataset was constructed by least square fitting. For faithful fitting, 43 time segments of 6.8 year length (each starts on January 1st of successive years) were separately acquired and later combined together. The period of dominant peak in the spectrum of this residual polar motion time series is 490 days. Next peaks have their periods as semi-annual, 300~330 days, ~560 days, 670 days, and 1360 days.

The sorption behavior of Cs(I), Sr(II), and U(VI) on representative single minerals(oxide and clay) and rocks were comparatively studied by using batch type sorption experiment. The effects of pH, ionic strength and the sorption mechanism were also discussed. It was found that mineral structure played as a main factor governing the sorption characteristics of Cs(I), Sr(II). The sorption of Cs(I) and Sr(II) on minerals showed ionic strength-dependency, which is a indirect sign of weak binding between metal cation and mineral surfaces. However, the sorption behavior of U(VI) was quite different compared with that of Cs(I), and Sr(II). Fe-oxide minerals showed strong tendency for U(VI) sorption, dominating the sorption in the composite/mixture systems. The surface characteristics which arise from mineral structure, and the affinity of metal ions to the sorption sites of minerals are the key to understand the role of minerals in the radionuclide sorption.

In this study, the simulation of rolling contact fatigue based on stress analysis is conducted under Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication state. To predict a crack initiation life accurately, it is necessary to calculate contact stress and subsurface stresses accurately. Contact stresses are obtained by contact analysis of a semi-infinile solid based on the use of influence functions and the subsurface stress field is obtained using rectangular patch solutions. And a numerical algorithm using Newton-Rapson method was constructed to calculate the Elastohydrodynamic lubrication pressure. Based on these stress values, several multiaxial high-cycle fatigue criteria are used and the critical loads corresponding to fatigue limits are calculated.

Page-oriented holographic data storage (HDS) is very sensitive to the tilt error. Therefore, tilt error should be measured and compensated. Especially, mechanical tilt measurement method cannot cope with tilt error measurement because photopolymer medium has shrinkage problem. Therefore, the method to solve this problem is using the reconstructed image which can represent both tilt and shrinkage effect. In this paper, we suggest disc tilt measurement algorithm using image pattern of retrieval data.

This paper presents an AMBA-based IP that can perform the deblocking filtering operations required in the H.264 video compression. The deblocking filter circuit was optimized for area and performance. The AHB wrapper was added to the circuit to interface with the AMBA-based platform. The AMBA-compliant operation of the proposed IP was verified on the platform board with Xilinx Virtex2 XC2V600 FPGA and ARM9 processor.

PZT thin films(3500 ) have been prepared onto $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates with a RF magnetron sputtering system using PB1.05(Zr0.52,Ti0.48)O3 ceramic target. We used two-step annealing techniques. As the RTA times and temperatures were increased, crystallization of PZT thin films were enhanced. The ferroelectric characteristics of PZT capacitors fabricated at $700^{\circ}C$ for 60 seconds were like these remanent polarization were $12.1 \muC/cm^2$, coercive field were 110 kV/cm, leakage current density were $4.1\times10-7 A/cm^2,\; \varepsilonr=442,$ and remanent polarization were decreased by 22% after 1010 cycles, respectively.

A quality of a refrigeration cycle and a reliability of a compressor can be reduced if a refrigerant including excessive lubricating oil is exhausted from the compressor. Thus, the analysis of the oil behavior inside the compressor is required to prevent the problem. A tested rotary compressor with visualization windows has been manufactured in this study to investigate the oil behavior using developed visualization techniques. The oil behaviors at various operating conditions have been quantified to obtain the relationship with the outlet pressure inside the compressor. Also, the effect of the operating conditions on the quantity of the exhausted oil from the rotary compressor has been investigated using the visualization technique.

가정용 LPG 저압조정기의 사용수명을 평가하기 위하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 실험결과에 의하면 조정압력과 폐쇄압력은 사용경과 7년부터의 조정 기에서 표준값을 현저하게 벗어나는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이들 결과로부터 LPG 저압조정기는 약 6년 정도의 사용수명을 갖고 있는 것으로 평가된다.
