There has been a growing interest in firms' environmental sustainability activities to improve environmental practices in their supply chain. This study aims to deal with supplier evaluation of firm's green supply chain management (GSCM) criteria with incomplete information. Nevertheless, the suitable supplier is a key strategic direction in eliminating environmental impact on supply chain management for manufacturing firms. The firm's GSCM criteria and supplier selection need to be unified as a system to improve the firm's performance.

In this study, we report simulation results of single-panel LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon). Reflective LCOS microdisplays are widely used in various projection and near-eye application. For one panel system, liquid crystal response time is an important variable. The panel must switch fast enough to support the display of Field color sequential with high field rates. In order to have fast response and good contrast, a vertical alignment (VA) cell was used in this study. With suitable selection on LC parameters like temperature, viscosity, elastic constant and birefringence, it is possible to get response time of around 2ms from a 2.0 um-thick vertical alignment cell. This result also indicates an ease of production control on 2.0 um cells than 1.0 um cells.

Although the human genome has been nearly completely sequenced, the functions and the roles of the vast majority of the genes, and the influences of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in these genes are not entirely known. A modified mutation detection method was developed for large-scale cloning of the possible SNPs between tumor and normal cells for facilitating the identification of genetic factors that associated with cancer formation and progression. The method involves hybridization of restriction enzyme-cut chromosomal DNA, cleavage and modification of the sites of differences by enzymes, and differential cloning of sequence variations with a designed vector. Experimental validations of the presence and location of sequence variations in the isolated clones by PCR and DNA sequencing support the capability of this method in identifying sequence differences between tumor cells and normal cells.

The demand of Small Self-generating System (SSS) including Small Cogeneration System (SCS) is constantly increasing with the need of electricity and/or thermal in office, hospital, hotel, and small factory, etc. It is especially recommended to operate SCS in the heat-following mode to maximize the efficiency of generator. In case of the heat-following mode SCS has got to be connected to distribution system so as to send surplus power to the utility or receive the short power from utility. But the interconnection of SSS with distribution system causes a few problems such as the bad power quality, and low security. If SSS is not promptly disconnected after faults occur (Islanding of SSS), it can not only damage equipment of utility and adjacent customers but also endanger life of human due to overvoltage or overcurrent. In this paper it has been deeply discussed if interconnection of engine self-generator/control system satisfies the protective requirement for SSS or not. 500 kW engine generator running in the Jodo island has been used to perform the analysis of interconnection.

The purpose of this paper is to present a new algorithm for extracting the consensus pattern, or motif from sequence belonging to the same family. Two methods are considered for feature interval partitioning based on equal probability and equal width interval partitioning. C2H2 zinc finger protein and epidermal growth factor protein sequences are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for motif extraction. For two protein families, the equal width interval partitioning method performs better than the equal probability interval partitioning method.

Evaluation of the implementation and performance of a firm's green supply chain management (GSCM) is an ongoing process. Balanced scorecard is a multi-criteria evaluation concept that highlights implementation and performance measures. The literature on the framework is abundant literature but scarce on how to build a hierarchical framework under uncertainty with dependence relations. Hence, this study proposes a hybrid approach, which includes applied interpretive structural modeling to build a hierarchical structure and uses the analytic network process to analyze the dependence relations. Additionally, this study applies the fuzzy set theory to determine linguistic preferences. Twenty dependence criteria are evaluated for a GSCM implemented firm in Taiwan. The result shows that the financial aspect and life cycle assessment are the most important performance and weighted criteria.

Radio occultation technique has been used in planetary science to obtain reliable and accurate temperature profiles of the other planets' atmosphere for decades. It relies on the fact that radio waves are bent and delayed due to the gradient of atmospheric refractivity along-ray-path. With the advent of Global Positioning System (GPS), it becomes possible to retrieve the refractivity and temperature profiles of the Earth's atmosphere from the occultation data. We have developed a retrieval algorithm and compared the results of our algorithm with the data of CHAMP to verify the accuracy of our algorithm is good enough. In our algorithm, there are some smoothing steps when retrieving. We analysis the data of FORMOSAT-3 and compare the results with and without smoothing and the results of TACC to see is there any phenomenon deleted after smoothing.

A low-stress organic polymer membrane is proposed as a deformable mirror that can be incorporated into a cellular phone camera to achieve auto focusing without motor-type moving parts. It is demonstrated that our fabricated device has an optical power of 20 diopters and can switch focus in 14 ms. The surface roughness of the organic membrane is measured around 15 nm, less than ${\lambda}$/20 of the visible light. With curve fitting, we found that the actuated membrane is almost parabolic in shape, which leads to less aberration than spherical surfaces. It is suitable for reflective-optics systems.

This paper presents a single-stage ZVT full-bridge AC/DC converter for aerospace applications. The detailed operating principle and design consideration of this soft-switched converter are analyzed and described. The proposed circuit topology and control scheme are proposed to exhibit optimum performances (i.e. high power factor, high efficiency, ring-free and low EMI features). A laboratory prototype, 500W 5V/100A AC/DC converter was implemented. The simulation and experimental waveforms verify the feasibility of the proposed design.

This paper presents a high-frequency electronic ballast for HID lamps. A new fixed frequency dimming method with low EMI features is developed in this research. The proposed electronic ballast has the advantages of high power density, simple circuit and low EMI features. The circuit operating principle and design procedures are described in detail. A laboratory prototype was built and tested. The simulation and experimental waveforms verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
