김치용 배추의 수경재배에 관한 연구 (A study on the hydroponic cultivation of Chinese cabbage for kimchi)

  • Hydroponic cultivation is a technology of raising crops without use of soil. Generally farmers use the method of DFT(deep flow technology)to grow leafy or fruity vegetables; however, systematic and scientific researches are insufficient on this matter. This study investigated the possibility of cultivating Chinese cabbage steadily year long by using the method of DFT. Chinese cabbage was cultivated hydroponically with and without Ge addition, used to prepare kimchi, and the chemical and microbiological characteristics of kimchi were compared. The basic hydroponic cultivation condition was as follows: 30 days after seeding, the raised seeds were moved to a hydroponic bed and given underground water for 3 days so the roots grow normally Standard nutrient solution was provided and the early electric conductivity concentration was maintained between 1.5∼2.5 thickness. The temperature of the solution was maintained between 10 ∼25$^{\circ}C$ to allow the growth of Chinese cabbage. When soil-cultivated, organically cultivated and hydroponically cultivated Chinese cabbages were compared, hydroponically cultivated cabbages were smaller in size and showed less ability to build up and fold leaves into a head, but showed better quality than organically cultivated cabbages. The contents of protein and fat showed no significant differences. The contents of water. Ca, P, Fe, Vitamin A and Niacin were higher in control and Ge-added cabbages compared with soil-grown cabbage. There was no difference between soil-cultivated Chinese cabbage kimchi and hydroponically cultivated Chinese cabbage kimchi.

봄배추 재배방법 및 품종에 따른 생육 및 절임 특성 (Characteristics of Growth and Salting of Chinese Cabbage after Spring Culture Analyzed by Cultivar and Cultivation Method)

  • 김치는 절임 발효 식품으로서 염장이 품질에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인이다. 이러한 영향에 대해 주재료인 배추의 품종 및 재배 방법의 차이를 구명하고자하였다. 배추의 재배방법(노지, 하우스재배) 및 품종(쌈노랭이, 매력, 춘황, 춘광, 고령지 여름, 옥황씨알)에 따른 수확전 요인(생육 특성)과 수확후에 나타나는 절임특성을 조사하고자 구중, 결구지수(크기), 엽수, 엽두께, 삼투몰 농도, 염함량, 탈염률, 경도를 측정하였다. 수확후 생육면에서는 시설내의 하우스에서 재배한 배추가 구중 및 결구크기, 엽두께, 함수량 등 면에서 높은 경향을 보였으며, 품종에 차이는 보이나 전반적으로 노지에서 재배한 배추의 경도, 삼투몰 농도가 높은 경향을 보였다. 배추를 절임시 염함량은 재배방법과 그에 따른 품종에 의해서도 차이가 나타났는데, 탐염률이 낮은 것들에서 염함량이 다소 높은 경향을 보였으며, 삼투몰 농도에서도 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 본 실험의 결과 동일한 품종이라도 재배 방법의 차이에 따라 배추를 절였을 경우 나타나는 특성이 달라질 수 있음을 확인하였다. 배추는 주년 생산작물이므로 봄철뿐만 아니라 앞으로 다른 생산시기도 확인이 필요 할 것으로 생각되며 이러한 재료의 차이에 따라 김치를 담갔을 때 대한 나타나는 고찰이 보다 필요 할 것이다.

Recovery of nitrogen by struvite precipitation from swine wastewater for cultivating Chinese cabbage

  • This study assessed the fertilizing value of struvite deposit recovered from swine wastewater in cultivating Chinese cabbage. Struvite deposit was compared with commercial fertilizers: complex, organic and compost to evaluate the fertilizing effect of struvite deposit. Laboratory pot test obviously presented that the struvite deposit more facilitated the growth of Chinese cabbage than organic and compost fertilizers even though complex fertilizer was the most effective in growing Chinese cabbage. It was revealed that the growth rate of Chinese cabbage was simultaneously controlled by phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Also, the nutrients such as nitrogen (N), P, K, calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) were abundantly observed in the vegetable tissue of struvite pot. Specifically, P was the most abundant component in the vegetable tissue of struvite pot. Meanwhile, the utilization of struvite as a fertilizer led to the lower accumulation of chromium ($Cr^{6+}$) than other pots, except for compost fertilizer pots, and no detection of cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As) and nickel (Ni) in the Chinese cabbage. The experimental results proved that the optimum struvite dosage for the cultivation of Chinese cabbage was 2.0 g struvite/kg soil. On the basis of these findings, it was concluded that the struvite deposits recovered from swine wastewater were effective as a multi-nutrient fertilizer for Chinese cabbage cultivation.

윤작작물 재배에 의한 배추 뿌리혹병 방제 효과 (Effect of Crop Rotation on Control of Clubroot Disease of Chinese Cabbage Caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae)

  • 고랭지의 배추 뿌리혹병 방제에 적합한 윤작작물을 선발하고자 2000년 감자, 옥수수, 콩, 양파, 곰취 등을 뿌리 혹병 이병포장에 재배하면서 뿌리혹병 발생에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 윤작작물들간의 경제성 비교에서는 감자와 양파 재배가 배추 연작에 비해 각각 약 16.9와 14.9배 더 높은 소득을 나타내었다. 윤작작물 재배 후의 토양 내 휴면포자 밀도는 모든 작물에서 $0.3{\sim}1.2{\times}10^3/g$ 토양이었고 배추 연작재배에서는 $89.3{\times}10^3/g$ 토양이었다. 2001년 동일 포장에 배추를 재배한 결과 뿌리혹병 발병도는 배추 연작재배의 77.8%에 비해 양파, 콩, 감자, 옥수수, 곰취 재배에서 각각 4.9, 20.2, 24.4, 25.1, 27.8%로 낮게 나타났다. 윤작작물의 재배기간에 따른 뿌리혹병 방제 효과를 양파, 감자, 콩 등의 작물로 2002년부터 2005년까지 시험하였다. 윤작작물 재배 후의 휴면포자 밀도는 모든 작물에서 2년째 재배까지 감소하였고 3년째 재배에서는 낮은 밀도가 유지되는 반면 배추 연작재배에서는 3년 동안 2.6에서 23.6배까지 증가하였다. 3년간의 윤작작물 재배를 통한 배추의 뿌리혹병 발병도는 감자 재배가 92%에서 4.4%, 콩 재배가 72%에서 10.4%, 양파 재배가72%에서 12.2%를 보이며 크게 감소한 반면 배추 연작재배에서는 100%를 유지하였다. 배추의 수량은 윤작기간이 길어질수록 증가되었으나 연작재배에서는 감소하였으며 3년째에는 연작재배의 배추 포기당 무게 95 g에 비해 감자, 콩, 양파 재배에서는 각각 2,205, 2,493, 2,476 g의 상품성 있는 배추가 생산되었다.

고랭지배추 재배지 토양보전을 위한 동반작물 지면패랭이 (Phlox subulata, Cover Plant for Soil Conservation in Chinese Cabbage-Cultivated Highland)

  • 고랭지 경사밭에서 동반작물의 토양보전효과를 알아보기 위하여 고랭지 배추재배지에 지면패랭이, 긴병꽃풀 등 지피성 동반작물을 배추와 동반정식, 상시피복정식, 배추단독정식 시, 이들에 의한 피복률 변화, 토양 및 양분유실, 잡초억제 정도를 조사하였다. 지면패랭이의 상시피복구는 배추 정식기에서 종료기까지 100%의 피복률을 보였다. 긴병꽃풀은 정식초기 10%의 피복률이 수확기에는 100%에 이르렀으나, 배추와 동시에 정식한 피복구는 약 60%로 배추에 의한 피복률을 크게 상회하지 못하였다. 토양 및 질소유실이 무지피에서는 $20.8ton\;ha^{-1}$, $2.1kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$, 배추단독으로 재배되거나 배추와 동시에 정식된 동반정식처리구에서는 $8.9{\sim}10.5ton\;ha^{-1}$, $1.5{\sim}2.2kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$이었으나 긴병꽃풀이나 지면패랭이 상시피복구에서는 $0.1{\sim}0.2ton\;ha^{-1}$, $0.2{\sim}0.4kg\;NO_3{^-}-N\;ha^{-1}$로 낮아져, 지피작물에 의한 토양 및 비료 유실저감 효과가 매우 높았다. 이들의 피복은 잡초발생을 약 70% 억제하였다. 따라서 지면패랭이의 이용은 잡초발생억제는 물론 토양유실 및 비료유실을 줄일 수 있어 고랭지배추 재배지에서 환경보전에 크게 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Growing plant in potting media without soil is known as Soilless cultivation. This method is used mostly in greenhouse cultivation to increase horticultural commodities production. Peat moss is commonly utilized as potting media substrate because of its characteristic. However, peat moss price is high because of the quantity of peat moss in nature has been decreased. Recently, most of the research is conducted to find the alternative growing medium to cultivate horticulture plant in potting media. Perlite and rice husk ash were mentioned that had a potent as alternative growing media for seasonal plants to increase agriculture production due to the lack of production area. This research aims to determine the growth of in rice husk ash, perlite and peat moss as growing substrates. The method used was the soilless cultivation. The chinese cabbage was planted in the pot with perlite media, rice husk ash media, and peat moss media. The chinese cabbage was measured after 35 days after planting. The result showed that peatmoss was more potentials in chinese cabbage growth performance than rice husk ash and perlite. Peat moss had the significant result of every research parameters such as plant height, plant weight, number of leaves, plant diameter, root length, and root weight. The best alternative for cultivation chinese cabbage without substrate based on this research was peat moss then rice husk ash and perlite.

Comparison of Plant Growth and Glucosinolates of Chinese Cabbage and Kale Crops under Three Cultivation Conditions

  • Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of cultivation conditions on the growth and glucosinolate content of Chinese cabbage and kale. Methods: Chinese cabbage and kale were grown in three different cultivation conditions, including a plant factory, greenhouse, and open field. Samples were collected at two harvesting times (10 d and 20 d after transplanting the seedlings). Nine growth parameters (plant height, plant width, number of leaves, petiole diameter, SPAD readout, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, and plant weight) were measured immediately after harvesting, and the samples were freeze-dried and stored until the glucosinolate content was analyzed. Mean values of the growth parameters and glucosinolate contents were evaluated using Duncan's multiple range tests. Results: The results indicated that the plant parameters of the Chinese cabbage and kale were greater for plants grown in the plant factory and greenhouse. The plant height, width, and weight showed significant differences in the Duncan's multiple range tests at a 5% level. The plant factory also produced greater contents of most of the glucosinolates. Conclusions: Three different cultivation conditions significantly affected the growth and glucosinolate contents of Chinese cabbage and kale. Further study is necessary to investigate other functional components and different vegetable varieties.

중량식 라이시미터에서 물관리에 따른 배추, 옥수수의 적정 및 최소 물 필요량 산정 (Estimation of Optimal and Minimal Water Requirement for Chinese Cabbage and Maize on Water Management using Weighable Lysimeters)

  • 본 연구에서는 중량식 라이시미터를 이용하여 토양 및 물관리 방법에 따라 배추와 옥수수 재배기간 동안 물수지를 평가하였으며, 작물 생산성과 물 부족 상황을 고려하여 작물 수분스트레스 계수와 최소 물 필요량을 산정하였다. 2018 년 배추 재배는 정식 2 주 후 빈번한 강우로 인해 관개가 실시되지 않아 무관개구와 적습관개구의 관개량 차이가 없었으며, 생산량 차이 또한 나타나지 않았다. 2018 년 배추 재배를 제외하고 배추와 옥수수 재배에서 적습관개구가 무관개구보다 생산량이 높게 나타났으며 대체적으로 증발산량 또한 높게 나타났다. 생산량과 증발산량은 밀접한 관련이 있으며 바이오매스 증가에 따라 증산작용이 활발해짐을 알 수 있었다. 작물 수분스트레스 계수는 배추 중기 0.8, 후기 0.8, 옥수수 중기 0.8, 후기 0.5 로 산정되었다. 배추와 옥수수의 최소 물 필요량(2017 년 배추 196.2 mm, 2018 년 옥수수 321.0 mm)은 적정 물 필요량(배추 239.4 mm, 2018 년 옥수수 466.9 mm) 대비 각각 82.0%, 68.8% 수준으로 나타났다. 이러한 산정 결과는 물부족 시기에 최소 관수량을 확보하여 작물 재배를 위한 물관리의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

  • In order to get some basic datas on environmental friendly funtion against soil and water pollution and safe vegetable production by organic farming, chemical characteristics of soils cultivated by the conventional farming, greengouse cultivation and organic farming and acumulation of NO3--N in chinese cabbage and lettuce were analysed. The highest value of NO3--N in 0-30cm subsoil of organic farming was found among the 3 different farming systems, and it was 3.6 and 6.6 times higher than those of conventional farming in chinese cabbage and lettuce respectively. P2O5 also show high accumulation in the rhizosphere of organic farming compared to convnetional farming. The accumulation of NO3--N and P2O5 in the rhizosphere of organic farming were simial to those of greenhouse cultivation. The NO3- accumulation in chinese cabbage and lettuce by organic farming reach 3224ppm in chinese cabbage and 2543ppm in lettuce and it were 4.7 and 6.4 times higher than those of convnetional farming. It is urgently necessary to introduce the basic standard of IFOAM, EU and FAO/WHO Codex on organic agriculture into korean organic agriculture for operation of environmental friendly system and production of safe vegetable in terms of NO3-.

Soil Microbial Community Assessment for the Rhizosphere Soil of Herbicide Resistant Genetically Modified Chinese Cabbage

  • BACKGROUND: Cultivation of genetically modified(GM) crops rapidly has increased in the global agricultural area. Among those, herbicide resistant GM crops are reported to have occupied 89.3 million hectares in 2010. However, cultivation of GM crops in the field evoked the concern of the possibility of gene transfer from transgenic plant into soil microorganisms. In our present study, we have assessed the effects of herbicide-resistant GM Chinese cabbage on the surrounding soil microbial community. METHODS AND RESULTS: The effects of a herbicide-resistant genetically modified (GM) Chinese cabbage on the soil microbial community in its field of growth were assessed using a conventional culture technique and also culture-independent molecular methods. Three replicate field plots were planted with a single GM and four non-GM Chinese cabbages (these included a non-GM counterpart). The soils around these plants were compared using colony counting, denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and a species diversity index assessment during the growing periods. The bacterial, fungal and actinomycetes population densities of the GM Chinese cabbage soils were found to be within the range of those of the non-GM Chinese cabbage soils. The DGGE banding patterns of the GM and non-GM soils were also similar, suggesting that the bacterial community structures were stable within a given month and were unaffected by the presence of a GM plant. The similarities of the bacterial species diversity indices were consistent with this finding. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that soil microbial communities are unaffected by the cultivation of herbicide-resistant GM Chinese cabbage within the experimental time frame.
