This study aims to measure effects of cause-related marketing by using consumer's preference of cause-related marketing product as a dependent variable. One of main factors influence on preference of cause-related marketing product is a product type. Previous research has shown that hedonic product is more effective for cause-related marketing than utilitarian product. The result was largely explained by the logic of guilt. However, there were conflicting results. In addition, the level of guilt may vary depending on the consumer characteristics or the market environment. Therefore, this study focuses on the impact of product type on the effect of cause-related marketing. For the Korean and Chinese markets, this study examines the effect of interactions between countries and product type. The result was significant. Specifically, there was a difference in preference of cause-related marketing product between Korean and Chinese consumers by product type. Based on the findings, implications and limitations of this study and future research directions were presented.
Both industrial interest and academic research are increasingly focusing on the need to institute a business environment whereby Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assumes a major role. It is suggested that four kinds of responsibilities constitute total CSR: economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities. Consumers tend to obtain positive perceptions toward the companies which collectively or partially fulfill these responsibilities. Moreover, the company image transfer process is the influence of consumer attitudes toward certain brands on overall evaluation of the company. To understand the image transfer process, we examine the influence of CSR level evaluation on overall brand evaluation in China, where active competitions among global brands exist.
Purpose: Social influence has a decisive role in shaping a person's cognition and behavior. Chinese face consciousness, including moral component, is an important part of Chinese traditional culture, which influences people to implement moral behavior. With both eye-tracking technology and traditional questionnaire, this research aims to explore people's moral psychology and the psychological processing mechanisms of Chinese face consciousness, as well as the impact of Chinese face consciousness on the preference for the ecological product. Method and Data: 75 college and MBA students' eye movement data were collected when they read different kinds of moral materials, as well as data from the subsequent questionnaires. To test the hypothesis, ANOVA analysis and Heat Map analysis were performed. Besides, the PROCESS of bootstrap was used to test mediation effect. Findings: The results reveal that: 1. Compared to the moral-situation reading, when subjects read immoral situations, they need more processing time due to the moral dissonance and cognitive load. 2. Compared to the control condition, when threatened moral self is primed, subjects prefer to choose ecological product. 3. Protective face orientation is the mediator between threatened moral self and preference to ecological product. Key Contributions: First, this study broadens the use of eye-tracking technology in marketing and demonstrates a better understanding of the relationship between morality and consumer behavior in a more scientific way. Second, this study not only distinguishes the meanings between "protective face orientation" and "acquisitive face orientation", but also innovatively validates that when moral self is threatened, consumers tend to choose ecological product as moral compensation in order to protect their face. It can shed light on the promotion of ecological product in practical applications.
In a long-run, a price reduction of shine muscat that is one type of grapes is expected due to an increase of cultivated area. To come up with this problem, expanding exports of shine muscat considering that domestic demand is restricted in Korea. This study investigates the China consumers preference for shine muscat from Korea since exports to China have increased a lot after the quarantine agreement in 2015. Specifically, this paper analyzes a probability of shine muscat exports to China based on willingness to pay (WTP). Moreover, we derive long-run and short-run export strategies for Korean shine muscat. Our results show that a probability of exports to China is high. However, this probability is lowered at the sample of consumers who have the experience of tasted shine muscat. Considering the relative important characteristic for buying shine muscat at the sample of eating experienced consumers in China is sweetness, there is a need to develop cultivation technologies for enhancing sweetness to attain a sustainable development in the grape sector of Korea.

This study investigated the effects of 'K-POP' preference on purchase intention of Korean products. Especially, it revealed the mediating role between the participation intention of Korean culture event and the purchase intention of Korean products. Further, we examined the difference in the path relation according to the use-behavior of Korean wave contents. In this proposed model, we can see 'K-POP' preference had a positive effect on participation intention of Korean culture event, but it was not significant for purchase intention of common products. The participation in Korean culture event had significant effects on the purchase intention of Korean culture products and the purchase intention of common products. However, the purchase intention of Korean culture products had no significant effects on the purchase intention of common products. Thus, our finding showed that higher preference of 'K-POP' did not make cause purchase intention of common products. Further, the higher the preference of 'K-POP' was, the higher the participation intension of Korean culture event was and, as a result, the purchase intention of common products got higher. In addition, path analysis results according to the media usage behaviors show that Chinese consumer who uses the internet and has a higher preference of 'K-POP' had a positive effect on the purchase intention of common products. Furthermore, it has a positive effect on both purchase intension of Korean culture products and purchase intension of common products. In case of Chinese consumer who use the television, radio and newspapers, K-POP preference had no significant effect on the purchase intension of common products.

The purpose of this study was to propose effective marketing communication strategies for overseas Korean restaurants through a multilateral comparison analysis of American, Chinese, and Japanese consumers' attitudes towards communication media and Korean restaurants. The survey was written in English, Chinese, and Japanese, with guideline for surveyors, and conducted using both online and offline methods. Samples were collected from five major cities - Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai, which are the foothold for the globalization of Korean food. When it comes to attitudes towards communication media, word-of-mouth showed a high mean value, indicating it as the most useful and reliable media recognized by consumers who visited Korean restaurants. Furthermore, the necessity of recognizing the importance of visual communication in the physical environment of Korean restaurants and specialized websites, featuring restaurants and gourmet food, was observed. Consumers in all three nations chose word-of-mouth as the most useful and reliable media for learning about Korean restaurants. In addition, American consumers highly depended on signage and restaurant exteriors. Chinese consumers highly recognized the usefulness and reliability of offline media, such as newspapers, magazines, and events, while Japanese consumers considered online media, such as gourmet websites, blogs and social networks, as useful and reliable sources. A significantly positive attitude and high value was observed in all who had visited Korean restaurants. American and Japanese consumers had a significantly higher rate of intention to visit Korean restaurants in the future and to tell others about their satisfaction with Korean restaurants. Meanwhile, the average rate of prior preference for Korean restaurants (when choosing restaurants) was the lowest in all three countries. This study is useful for both the Korean government and food enterprises abroad to plan and develop marketing communication strategies properly for overseas Korean restaurants.

This study was intended to investigate the Makgeolli drinking behavior through a survey and the sensory properties and preference of fresh and sterilized Makgeolli through sensory evaluation focusing on the Chinese students in Korea, becoming potential consumers of Makgeolli. The survey was conducted from October 9th to October 30th, 2013, and then 117 copies were adopted for the analyses. The results are as follows. 71.8% of the subjects liked Makgeolli, 56.4% drank 5-6 times a week, and 25.7% drank more than 2 bottles at a time. 61.5% of the subjects had purchasing experience. The routes of collecting information about Makgeolli were acquaintances(66.7%) and media sources(28.2%). In the sensory evaluation, sterilized Makgeolli(BS) that has a fresh odor, sweet and sour taste, cooling sensation, and good aftertaste got the best score in the overall acceptability, and fresh Makgeolli(KD) that has a strong nuruk odor, turbidity, bitter taste, and heavy mouthfeel got the lowest score in the overall acceptability. These results show that sweet, fresh, and refreshing Makgeolli suits Chinese's taste and word of mouth marketing through the expansion of tasting events would promote Makgeolli consumption in the Chinese market.
With the growing preference among Chinese consumers for purchasing beauty products through social media networks (SNS), influencer marketing has recently emerged as a crucial strategy for maximizing word-of-mouth effects. This study aims to ascertain the impact of SNS beauty influencers' characteristics on trustworthiness and consumers' intentions to engage in word-of-mouth promotion. Furthermore, the study seeks to explore the moderating role of consumer involvement in the relationship between SNS beauty influencer characteristics and the trust consumers place in them. As part of an empirical analysis, an online survey was administered to 259 Chinese female consumers who had previously purchased beauty products through influencers on SNS. The data gathered were scrutinized by conducting multiple and hierarchical regression analysis to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicated that the attributes of "expertise,"' "intimacy," and "homogeneity" in SNS beauty influencers significantly affect influencer trust, whereas "charm" does not have a significant impact. Moreover, consumer involvement was found to moderate the relationship between SNS beauty influencer characteristics (expertise, intimacy, charm, and homogeneity) and influencer trust. Additionally, influencer trust positively influenced the intention to engage in word-of-mouth activities. These findings signify that leveraging influencers possessing qualities such as expertise, intimacy, and homogeneity can help enhance product exposure, popularity, and sales of the beauty industry. This study contributes valuable insights into the strategic utilization of influencer characteristics in the beauty industry and digital marketing, highlighting their pivotalrole in consumer engagement and the success of marketing strategies.
