Initially, SNS have been used as the form of networking between user's groups. Currently SNS has been developed towards multiple purposes and platforms such as the promotion and the advertising of a company. There are many SNSs including QQ, Weibo, and Wechat and so on in China. However, the use of companies in terms of advertising and information sharing with the customers do not meet the trend in China. Especially, there were little researches for Chinese travel agencies how to utilize SNS for attracting new customers and making them contribute to the firm's performance. In this study, we try to investigate the impact of the firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS on the performance of Chinese travel agencies. Based on Top 100 China travel agencies in 2009, we analyzed the relationships between firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS, and firm's performances in 2013. We expect that our study can contribute to the increasing academic and practical needs on the empirical evidence of the impacts of the SNS utilizations on the firm's performance.

  • Purpose: Our purpose in this study is to compare the SERVQUAL, SERVPERF, and non-difference score measures and to find out which one is better for measuring the service quality of the multiplex cinema service. We also aim to analyze the structural relationships between service quality, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Methodology: For the study, we collected data from respondents who have used the multiplex cinema services and conducted an empirical test. SPSS 18.0 was used for descriptive frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis, AMOS 18.0 was used for structural equation modeling analysis of causal relationships among variables introduced in research hypotheses. Results: The main results of this study are as follows. First, we found that the non-difference score measure provided a much better model than did other service-measuring models (SERVQUAL, SERVPERF) in Korean and Chinese multiplex cinema. Second, two service-quality factors (Korea-tangibles and assurance vs. China-tangibles and empathy) between the multiplex cinema service quality factors significantly influenced customer satisfaction, which had a significant effect on customer loyalty in Korean and Chinese multiplex cinema. Conclusions: Based on the results, the authors discuss the implications and limitations of this study and future research directions at the end of the paper.

  • This paper uses social network theory and the internationalization process model (IPM) to determine how external network linkages influence the location choices of multinational enterprise from emerging economies (EMNEs); specifically, whether past alliance experience influences location choices and its impact on the subsequent entry of MNEs from emerging economies. This paper applies survival analysis using initial and secondary investments from 2,000 Chinese A-share listed companies that entered 90 countries between 1997 and 2018 to analyze both the initial and subsequent entries of Chinese outward foreign direct investments (OFDIs) in major host countries. The findings indicate that an MNE's previous experience with a company from a particular country will increase the likelihood of an initial investment in that country. Previous alliance experience may accelerate the foreign investment process of EMNE and stimulate firms making a commitment to a position in a foreign network, regardless of cultural distance and stage of internationalization. Alliance before initial investment may increase the likelihood and speed of entering a host country as wholly owned subsidiaries and that network linkages not only significantly influence the internationalization process of small and medium-sized enterprises, as indicated by the IPM, but also that of large listed firms.

Currently, China is the world's largest electric vehicle producer, and several global and local companies are adapting to the transition environment of the electric vehicle industry and carrying out various activities. To analyze the causes and environmental characteristics of this transition, we analyzed the activities of the Chinese government, automobile companies, and companies in forward and backward linked industries, which are major actors in the production network. As a result, with full support from the Chinese government, functional changes of existing actors and an increase in the entry of new actors resulted in a transition to an electric vehicle industry space accompanied by new values.

  • Purpose - This study examines the impact of company ownership nature and of the dual role of CEO and board chair on R & D investment intensity, as well as the moderating effect of this dual role. Most previous research focused on the impact of the dual role of CEO and board chair on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach - This study uses A-share companies listed on the Shenzhen and Shanghai stock exchanges in China from 2008 to 2017. The univariate and the multivariate regression analysis were hired In order to analyze the data. Findings - The results show that there is a significant negative relationship between state-owned companies and R & D investment intensity. In addition, there is a significant positive relationship between the dual role and R & D investment intensity. The effect of state ownership on R & D investment intensity is more negative when CEO-board chair duality exists. This means that in case of state-owned companies, if CEO serves as the board chair, the propensity to invest in R&D is further reduced. Research implications or Originality - This is a pioneering study that considers the joint effect of state-owned companies and dual role on R & D investment intensity in the Chinese economy.
