학령기 입원아동의 자아존중감증진 프로그램 개발 및 효과 (Development and Effectiveness Testing of a Program to Promote Self-esteem for Hospitalized School-aged Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a program promoting self-esteem and to determine the effectiveness of the program for hospitalized school-aged children. Method: The sample group consisted of 68 hospitalized children in a University Hospital located in Busan. The experimental group was given the program and feedback was obtained 3 times up until the day of discharge. Data were analyzed using t-test and 2-way ANOVA with the SPSS program package. Result: There was a significant difference between experimental and control groups in self-esteem. Conclusion: It was found that the program promoting self-esteem in school aged children was effective. The program, which was based on learning theory, was shown to be an effective and strong method to promote adjustment in hospitalized school-aged children.

입원아동 어머니의 치료적 놀이 요구 및 어머니가 지각한 간호사의 치료적 놀이 수행정도 (Therapeutic Play Need and the Nurses′s Therapeutic Play Performances Perceived by Hospitalized Children′s Mothers)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify therapeutic play need and the degree of the nurses's therapeutic play performances perceived by hospitalized children's mothers, and then to compare the difference between the degree of the need and perceived performances. The subjects of this study consist of 121 hospitalized children's mothers. A questionaire for this study was 29 item likert type 4 point scale developed on the basis of literature review, hospitalized children's mother interview and researcher's clinical experiences. Data was analyzed by Paired t-test, t-test, ANOVA & Duncan's comparison. Results of this study are summarized as follows : 1. The degree of the therapeutic play need was measured to be high (3.20). The degree of perceived therapeutic play need by five components were followed as : physiologic suffering relief & enhancing play (3.39), growth & development facilitating play (3.26), instructional play (3.24), emotional well-being promoting play (3.18) and providing play tool & environment(2.97). 2.The degree of the nurse's therapeutic play performances perceived by mothers was measured to be low (1.60). The degree of perceived performances of the therapeutic play by the five components were followed as : physiologic suffering relief & enhancing play (1.87), instructional play (1.74), emotional well-being promoting play (1.64), providing play tool & environment (1.44) and growth&development facilitating play (1.42). 3. The difference between the degree of the therapeutic play need and nurese's perfor- mances perceived by hospitalized children's mothers were significant statistically (t= 38.54, p=.0001). Also, five components of therapeutic play were significant statistically (p=.0001). Therapeutic play has unique benefits among health care intervention for children. These findings will help in building of the theoretical framework of therapeutic play and enhancing the quality of nursing care for hospitalized children. Therapeutic play program for hospitalized children according to child growth & development and physiologic status are recommended to be developed.

입원아동 어머니의 진통제 지식과 사용태도 및 교육요구 (Knowledge, Using Attitude and Education Demand of Analgesics on Hospitalized children's Mothers)

  • Purpose: Mothers are primary care taker for hospitalized children and they have an important role for the management of children's pain. This study was purposed to provide basic data needed in constructing the educational contents about pain management for the hospitalized children. Method: The research subjects were 165 mothers of children hospitalized at a general hospital in Busan. The questionnaire were composed of knowledge of, using attitude toward and education demand on analgesics. The data were collected from August 1 to September 30, 2009. Data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 program. Results: The overall mean score of correct answers on knowledge about analgesics was 26.9% and using attitude toward analgesics was $25.55{\pm}4.03$. And demand of education was $3.98{\pm}0.66$. Conclusions: The level of mothers' knowledge about analgesics was very low and using attitude toward analgesics was passive. The hospitalized children's mothers need more knowledge and liberalness attitude toward analgesics. And various and sufficient educational program about analgesics and pain management for hospitalized children's mothers can be contribute to improve the quality of life of them.

일 종합병원 아동병동의 환아 어머니와 간호사의 파트너십이 환아 어머니의 불안과 간호의 질 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Child's Mother and Nurse Partnership on the Anxiety and Perceived Quality of Nursing Care of Hospitalized Child's Mother)

  • 본 연구는 아동병동에 입원한 환아 어머니와 간호사의 파트너십과 환아 어머니의 불안 및 간호의 질 인식을 조사하고 입원아동 어머니의 불안과 간호의 질 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위해 실시된 서술적 조사연구이다. 자료수집은 2015년 9월 21일부터 10월 4일까지 경남 지역의 일개 종합병원 아동병동에 입원 한 환아 어머니를 대상으로 자가보고형 설문지를 사용하여 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 IBM SPSS 18.0을 사용하여 기술통계와 t-검정, ANOVA 및 다중 회귀 분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 입원횟수와 비뇨생식기계 질환 및 기타질환과 환아 어머니와 간호사의 파트너십이 환아 어머니의 불안에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 입원횟수와 환아 어머니와 간호사의 파트너십이 간호의 질 인식에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 입원 아동 어머니의 불안을 낮추고 간호사와의 파트너십 및 간호의 질 향상을 위한 간호 중재 프로그램 개발에 대한 연구와 나아가 아동간호 실무에서 아동의 주 간호 제공자인 어머니와의 긍정적 파트너십 형성과 간호의 질 인식 향상을 위한 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

입원아동을 위한 아동간호학 분야의 유머 중재에 관한 고찰 (A Study of Humor as a Nursing Intervention for Hospitalized Children)

  • Purpose: Humor is an important part of life. Humor has many benefits as an intervention for hospitalized children. Humor is one strategy that pediatric nurses can use to help children cope with illness and hospitalizations. The purposes of the study were to 1) review the definition of humor, 2) identify methods and skills in using humor as an intervention, 3) identify the effects of humor as an intervention, and 4) suggest further research. Method: The design was a descriptive study with literature review. Previous studies were identified by searches of MEDLINE, CHNIAL, PUBMED and ProQuest. Results: Humor has positive physiological, psychological, social and communicative effects on patients and humor has a positive effect on the immune system. Conclusion: The main point identified from this study suggests that humor as a nursing intervention be developed for nurses to use with children who are hospitalized. Further research is needed to develop programs for humor as an intervention for health promotion and disease prevention in children.

입원아동 보호자의 역할과 역할부담감 (Role and Role Burden of Caregivers with Hospitalized Children)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the role and role burden of caregivers with hospitalized children. Methods: The participants included 149 main caregivers from two pediatric hospitals whose children have been hospitalized for at least 2 days at children's hospital. The data were collected from August 1 to september 30, 2013 using self-report questionnaires of checklist type for caregivers' role and Likert scale for role burden. Results: Role for hospitalized children showed that personal hygiene was the highest, and consultation with nurses and doctors was the lowest in total frequency per day. Of the role for the caregivers themselves and family, personal hygiene was the highest, and home management was the lowest. The degree of role burden perceived by hospitalized children's caregivers was the slightly high. Of the categories, emotional burden was the highest and dependent burden was the lowest. There were differences by caregivers' age, children's age, and children's health status. Conclusion: The caregivers performed various roles, especially more frequently on personal hygiene and nutrition for their hospitalized children and themselves and family, and had slightly high role burden. These results may contribute to develop nursing interventions that can help adapt on hospitalization of children and their caregivers.

입원 아동의 자연적 놀이 활동 (Play Activity in Hospitalized Children)

  • Purpose: This study was done to analyze children's play during hospitalization. Method: Data were collected from 36 play situations of hospitalized children, ages 2 to 6, hospitalized at 4 general hospitals, one in each city, Seoul, Suwon, Daejeon and Daegu. All observations were made in pediatric units during free-play periods. Each child was observed for 5 minutes at each observation and observed three times at each play session. Results: Of the children, 83.3% played on the bed. Play partners were mainly mothers. While 75.0% of children actively took part in play activity and 70.0% played with joy, 63.9% of play partners were more passive in the play. The most frequent play material was a small toy. The level of play was early stage of social and cognitive play, and dramatic play was observed in a few children over the age of 3 years. The play activities were conversional play, reflections of therapeutic procedures, imagination, and exploratory play. In the conversional play, children converted hospital equipments into play materials. Conclusion: It is recommended that health care team members should pay attention and actively participate in play of hospitalized children in order to help them have some control over the stress of the situation.

보호자역할증진 프로그램이 입원아동 보호자의 불확실성, 스트레스 및 돌보기 수행에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Caregiver's Role Improvement Program on the Uncertainty, Stress, and Role Performance of Caregivers with Hospitalized Children)

  • Purpose: In this study a caregiver's role improvement program was developed and tested to identify the effect on uncertainty, stress, and role performance of caregivers with hospitalized children. Methods: The design of this study was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group and a non-synchronized design. Thirty-three caregivers were assigned to the experimental group and 33 to the control group. Data were collected from March 5 2016 to April 10 2016. For the experimental treatment, each individual was given on-site education with situated learning (given 30 minutes each, for 2 sessions), and self-repetition learning activities were performed from the e-book. Data were analyzed using t-test, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Results: The level of uncertainty and stress decreased, and role performance level improved for these caregivers with hospitalized children. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that using on-site education through situated learning and self-repetition learning with an e-book as in the caregiver's role improvement program is an effective intervention. Therefore, utilizing the caregiver role improvement program developed in this study is recommended as an effective intervention for caregivers of hospitalized children.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop educational material for parents of hospitalized preschool children who receive nebulizer therapy treatment. The educational material is aimed at providing information on the correct use of nebulizer. Methods: The development of educational material was based on the ADDIE model and consists of an A4-sized leaflet and a video. Results: The leaflet included basic information, procedures, and cautionary information for nebulizer therapy, as well as frequently asked questions. The one minute and fifty second video is accessed via QR code and provides step-by-step instruction on nebulizer therapy. Conclusion: This study recommends that the educational leaflet and video developed for nebulizer therapy use be provided to parents of preschool children hospitalized in the pediatric ward.

입원 환아 어머니의 스트레스와 대처노력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stress and Coping Effort of Hospitalized Children's Mother)

  • Purpose: Assessment of stress and coping effort of hospitalized children's mother are very important factor to support and recover the children. The purpose of this study was to identify the stress and coping effort in mothers whose children are hospitalized. And analyzes the correlation between mother's stress and coping effort on the hospitalized children. Method: This study surveyed 70 mothers whose children are hospitalized. The data was collected for this study at one university hospital in Daejeon from June 1,2007 to July 10, 2007. The instruments used in this study were the mother's stress scale which was developed by Ok-Nam, You(1998), modified by Ho-Jin, Mun(2001), and the mother's coping effort were measured with the Coping Health Inventory for Parents(CHIP) developed by McCubbin and Patterson(1981). The data was analyzed by using SPSS program and include ANOVA, and Pearson's Correlation. Result: The mother's stress was average 2.42 out of a possible 4 points. Type of coping effort was in order of type III(cope with it by understanding medical circumstances)(M=2.73), type I(Cope with it through positive definition)(M=2.43), type II (cope with it by maintaining psychological stability)(M=2.28). Total coping effort according to general character of mothers whose children are hospitalized showed a significant difference in occupation(P<.05). Correlations between mother's stress and total coping effort was r=-.361(P<.05). Conclusion: This study based on nursing of stress and coping effort of hospitalized children's mothers. Pediatric nurses need to establish a stronger communication board and a relationship between medical staff and children's parents so that have supportive information. And to establish a support program that strengthens the coping effort of hospitalized children's mothers.
