  • Prior to being prepared the surveilance method and the surveilance system of chemical hazards, the employer's investigastion of the newly-registered-chemical hazards has been to be under obligation along with legislation of the Hazardous Chemicals Control Act and revision of the Industrial Safety & Health Act in 1990. In order to make up the chemical hazards examining plan and to frame the chemical hazards investigating system about the newly-registered chemicals and the existing hazardous chemicals in worksite environments, the KISCO's chemical hazards surveilance program is methodologically researched and presented.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator.   • In order to prevent chemical accidents caused by human error, a chemical accident prevention and response training program using advanced technology was developed. After designing a virtual process based on the previously built pilot plant, chemical accident response contents were developed. A part of the pilot facility was remodeled for content realization and a remote control function was given. In addition, a DCS program that can control facilities in a virtual environment was developed, and chemical process operator training (OTS) that can finally respond to virtual chemical accidents was developed in conjunction with AR. Through this, trainees can build driving skills by directly operating the device, and by responding to virtual chemical accidents, they can develop emergency response capabilities. If the next-generation OTS like this study is widely distributed in the chemical industry, it is expected to greatly contribute to the prevention of chemical accidents caused by human error.

  • The liquid level in a spherical tank was controlled with a micro-computer and the dynamic behavior of this non-linear system due to the variation of set point was studied. The adaptive control theory was used and the real values of controlled variables were compared with the theoretical values from a mathematical model.

  • Optimal control theories based on the maximum principles have been evolved and applied to distributed parameter systems(DPSs) represented by partial differential equations (PDEs) and integral equations (IEs). This paper intends to show that an optimal control of a tubular reactor described by a one-dimensional partial differential equation was obtained using the distributed parameter control method for parabolic PDEs. In develping an algorithm which implements the calculation, the method of lines (MOL) was adopted through using a package called the DSS/2. For the tubular reactor system chosen for this paper, the optimal control method based on PDEs with the numerical MOL showed to be more efficient than the one based on IEs.

  • A numerical study has been peformed to investigate the flow and mixing characteristics of a chemical injection tank in the chemical and volume control system (CVCS) of Yonggwang 5&6 (YGN 5&6). This study was undertaken to provide a basis for modification of the previous design (YGN 3&4) which gave a lot of difficulties in installation and operation of the chemical injection system during the start-up test because it needs a special reciprocating pump with a high actual head. For the tank of length-to-diameter ratios (L/D) of 1,2 and 3, each with and without a baffle inside, calculation results were obtained by solving the unsteady laminar two-dimensional elliptic forms of governing equations for the mass, momentum and species concentration. Finite-difference method was used to obtain discretized equations, and the SIMPLER solution algorithm, which was developed based on the staggered grid control volume, was employed for the calculation procedure. Results showed that the baffle is very effective in enhancing the mixing in the tank and that a baffle should be installed near the tank entrance in order to 110 chemicals into the reactor coolant system (RCS) within the operating time required.

  • In this paper, the design result of robotic tools and the development of robot control system for chemical coupler assembly are presented. This research aims to eliminate the risk of chemicals exposed to human operators by developing the robotic tools and robot automation system for chemical tank lorry unloading that were done manually. Due to tight tolerance between couplers, even small pose error may result in very large internal force. In order to resolve the problem, the 6-axis compliance device is employed, which can provide not only enough compliance between couplers but also F/T sensing. The 6-axis compliance device having large force and moment capacity is designed. A simple linear gripper with rack-and-pinion is designed to grasp two sizes of couplers. The proposed robot automation system consists of 6-DOF collaborative robot with offset wrist, 6-axis compliance device with F/T sensing, linear gripper, and two robot visions.

  • Though a fully thermally coupled distillation column-an energy efficient distillation system-consumes less energy, it is not widely implemented in practice due to its operational difficulty. A 3-column distillation system having improved operability is proposed here, and its energy saving performance and application related issues are investigated from the implementation result to a practical hexane process. When an energy integration is employed, the proposed system requires 18% less energy than a conventional 2-column system, which is found from the HYSYS simulation. Though more control loops than the 2-column system are required, the proposed system has better controllability of product compositions and the pressure control of the system is easier.

  • This paper describes Web based education technique. We implemented a remote compile system with 8051 micro controller. It implemented the system in this paper so that a learner compiled 8051 control programs to the remote. Most big restriction subject is the control of the hardware in an engineering field even though it implements a remote education system. We download the Java Application to Java Web Start and execute in this system. In this paper the learner controls 8051 executions in Web to the remote and implemented so that we confirmed the action. The supplementary problem will be the construction of a remote education system which offeres existing text and sound information, flash animation.

  • This paper is concerned with the modeling and identification of pH neutralization process as nonlinear chemical system. The pH control has been applied to various chemical processes such as wastewater treatment, chemical, and biochemical industries. But the control of the pH is very difficult due to its highly nonlinear nature which is the titration curve with the steepest slope at the neutralization point. We apply SVM which have become an increasingly popular tool for machine teaming tasks such as classification, regression or detection to model pH process which has strong nonlinearities. Linear and radial basis function kernels are employed and each result has been compared. So SVH based on kernel method have been found to work well. Simulations have shown that the SVM based on the kernel substitution including linear and radial basis function kernel provides a promising alternative to model strong nonlinearities of the pH neutralization but also to control the system.
