  • The wind power generators installed in the Jeju area have already exceeded the supply in the Jeju area and are being thrown away. Accordingly, the government is conducting research on installing a 2MWh-class ESS(energy storage system) through a technology development project to charge wasted power and use it in an electric vehicle charging station. In this paper, in order to stably install a 2MWh class ESS, the electric vehicle charging model and ESS discharge model were modeled and simulated using Matlab Simulink. Through simulation, it was verified that the 2MWh class ESS operates stably in various scenarios.

  • Due to lack of hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen supply compared to the supply of hydrogen vehicles, social phenomena such as 2-hour queues and restrictions on charging capacity are occurring, which negatively affects the spread of hydrogen vehicles. In order to resolve these problems, it is essential to have a strategic operation of the hydrogen charging stations. To establish operational strategies, it is necessary to derive customer demand patterns and characteristics through the analysis of sales data. This study derived the demand patterns and characteristics of customers visiting hydrogen charging stations through data analysis from various perspectives, such as charging volume, charging speed, number of visits, and correlation with external factors, based on the hydrogen sales data of off-site hydrogen charging stations located in domestic residential areas.

  • Fundamental Electric vehicle charge system is urgently needed for commercialization of electric vehicles. Car parking building is equipped with PV system for providing electricity to charge electric vehicles, because it must be charged at least for 30 minutes. In parking lots abroad, electric car charging stations are installed to charge electric cars by the electricity gained from PV systems which are also installed. Also, charge infrastructure construction plans and electric car charging facility support standards are being set and proposed, but there are no cases like abroad of electric car charging stations using PV systems and only electric car charging stations using ordinary electricity are being proposed. Therefore, this paper prepares establishment of domestic electric car charging networks. By researching inside outside solar parking lots and cases of abroad PV system electric car charging stations, and by analysis and comparative analysis of structural systems, structural material, and etc., many cantilever structure and small-size types were installed in PV system electric car charging stations.

  • Even though demand to charge EV(electric vehicles) is increasing, there are some problems to construct EV charging stations and problems from deficient them. Typical problem of EV charging stations is discordance for EV charging station location with its demand. This study investigates methods to determine the optimized location for fast EV charging stations considering charging demand in Seoul. Firstly, variables influencing on determination of determine the optimized location for fast EV charging stations were decided, and then evaluation of weights of the variables and data collection were conducted. Using the weights, location potential scores for each area-cell were calculated and optimized locations for fast EV charging stations were resulted.

  • Hydrogen charging station was invested and supported around the world. In this study, the extent of damage caused by VCE in the charging station handling liquefied hydrogen was calculated, and the human and material damage was estimated through the Probit model. In addition The optimal height of vent stack for low temperature hydrogen was set. The damage range is 8.24m in small scale, 14.10m in medium scale, and 22.38m in large scale based on interest overpressure 6.9kPa. In case of death due to pulmonary hemorrhage, 50m of the small and medium scale and 100m of the large scale were injured. Structural damage was 200m in small scale, 300m in medium scale and 500m in large scale. The optimum height of the vent stack is 4.7 m in small scale, 8.8 m in medium scale and 16.9 m in large scale.

  • With the rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs) industry, EV charging service becomes more and more important. Especially, in the case of suddenly drop of air temperature or open holidays that large-scale EVs seeking for charging devices (CDs) in a short time. In such scenario, inefficient EV charging scheduling algorithm might lead to a bad service quality, for example, long queueing times for EVs and unreasonable idling time for charging devices. To deal with this issue, this paper propose a Deep-Q-Network (DQN) based two-stage scheduling method for the large-scale EVs charging service. Fine-grained states with two delicate neural networks are proposed to optimize the sequencing of EVs and charging station (CS) arrangement. Two efficient algorithms are presented to obtain the optimal EVs charging scheduling scheme for large-scale EVs charging demand. Three case studies show the superiority of our proposal, in terms of a high service quality (minimized average queuing time of EVs and maximized charging performance at both EV and CS sides) and achieve greater scheduling efficiency. The code and data are available at THE CODE AND DATA.

  • To verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, the charges in power demand are analyzed for an AC and DC distribution system for the existing V2G concept and electric vehicle charging stations connected to a Battery Energy Storage System. In addition, since many power-converter-based chargers are operated simultaneously in an EV charging station, the change in the system harmonics when several EV chargers are connected at a single point is analyzed through simulations.

  • In this paper, we develope the navigation system for patrol robots in indoor environment. The proposed system consists of PDA map modelling, a localization algorithm based on a global position sensor and an automatic charging station. For the practical use in security system, the PDA is used to build object map on the given indoor map. And the builded map is downloaded to the mobile robot and used in path planning. The global path planning is performed with a localization sensor and the downloaded map. As a main controller, we use PXA270 based hardware platform in which embedded linux 2.6 is developed. Data handling for various sensors and the localization algorithm are performed in the linux platform. Also, we implemented a local path planning algorithm for object avoidance with ultra sonar sensors. Finally, for the automatic charging, we use an infrared ray system and develop a docking algorithm. The navigation system is experimented with the two-wheeled mobile robot using North-Star localization system.

  • Due to the issue of the sustainability in transportation area, the number of electric vehicles has significantly increased. Most automakers have decided or planned to manufacture the electric vehicles rather than carbon fueled vehicles. However, there are still some problems to figure out for the electric vehicles such as long charging time, driving ranges, supply of charging stations. Since the speed of growing the number of electric vehicles is faster than that of the number of charging stations, there are lack of supplies of charging stations for electric vehicles and imbalances of the location of the charging stations. Thus, the location problem of charging stations is one of important issues for the electric vehicles. Studies have conducted to find the optimal locations for the charging stations. Most studies have formulated the problem with deterministic or hierarchical models. In this paper, we have investigated the fluctuations of locations and the capacity of charging stations. We proposed a mathematical model for the location problem of charging stations with the vehicle routing problem. Numerical examples provide the strategy for the location routing problems of the electric vehicles.

  • In this study, risk assessment was conducted in case of leakage of storage facilities (tube trailer) using the HyKoRAM program developed through international joint research. The high-pressure gas facilities in the hydrogen filling station are divided into four main categories: storage facilities (tube trailers), processing facilities (compressors), compressed gas facilities, and filling facilities (dispensers). Among them, the design specifications of the tube trailer, which is a storage facility, and the surrounding environmental conditions were reflected to construct an accident scenario with previously occurring accidents and potential accidents. Through this, we identify the risks of storage facilities at hydrogen refueling stations and suggest measures to improve the safety of hydrogen charging stations.
