Korea traditional dresses are making news everyday through popular media and a number of exhibitions and fashion shows that have been held as a way to activate the use of the hanbok. This study intends to examine the current status of handbook brands and analyze the aesthetic characteristics of the hanbok. This study defined the terms related with the hanbok and examined the chronological changes in the hanbok through a literature review, an examination of the aesthetic characteristics of Korean traditional clothing, and an analysis of the aesthetic characteristics by dividing currently available hanbok brands in to the traditional hanbok. According to the results of the study, hanbok brands were divided into Traditional Hanbok, Life Hanbok, and New Hanbok. The Traditional Hanbok brands represented traditional beauty, the beauty of formality, symbolic beauty, and the beauty of nature. The Life Hanbok brands represented symbolic beauty, natural beauty, the beauty of blending, and the proportional beauty. The New Hanbok brands represented natural beauty, unproportaional beauty, the beauty of line, and the beauty of moderation. Therefore the New Hanboks gave changes to the traditional clothing and the unique clothing of our nation. Its formative elements coexist according to their characteristics.
This study examined the types of retro marketing of fashion brands and explored the difference in retro characteristics and nostalgic emotions. Additionally, the effects of retro characteristics on nostalgic emotions and the influence of nostalgic emotions on brand attitude were examined. A total of 33 fashion brands, including eight designer brands, 10 sports and outdoor brands, 11 casual brands, and four SPA brands were investigated to categorize the retro marketing types. An online survey was also conducted of respondents in their 20s to 50s, and a total of 363 responses were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. The results were as follows. First, the retro marketing of fashion brands was categorized into four types including brand heritage marketing, retro design marketing, retro emotional experience-oriented marketing, and brand collaboration marketing. The four retro marketing types showed differences in retro characteristics and nostalgic emotions. Second, the retro characteristics consisted of four dimensions including familiarity, attractiveness, uniqueness, and historicity. Nostalgic emotions consisted of four dimensions including sadness, longingness, comfort, and pleasure. Third, the results showed that familiarity and attractiveness had significant effects on comfort and pleasure, while uniqueness and historicity had significant effects on longingness. Fourth, the results showed that longingness, comfort, and pleasure had positive effects on brand attitude, whereas sadness had a negative effect on brand attitude.

Most luxury fashion brands have a strong brand identity and the product design characteristics of a brand are critical factors that influence brand identity. The design of products influence brand identity and play an important role in the choice by consumers in which brand to purchase. This study investigates the impact design characteristics of luxury brands on brand attitudes as well as purchase intentions in the examination of the differences in the impact influence by product category and consumer characteristics. The product design of brands was evaluated and measured by innovative and traditional characteristics. The product categories were divided into apparel, bags, shoes, and accessories. The consumer characteristics used in this study are fashion involvement, age, income, and the amount of money used for purchasing fashion products. Sample brands, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, and Gucci, were extracted from the Intel-brand's Luxury Brand Ranking 2008 and pilot tested for appropriateness. The data collected from 120 luxury consumers and 92 samples were statistically analyzed with SPSS 15.0, reliability test, factor analysis, ANOVA, frequency test, regression, and t-test. The findings are as follow. First, luxury brands were divided into two groups by innovative design characteristics and traditional design characteristics; innovative design characteristics show a significant influence on brand attitude and purchase intention. Second, only fashion related behavior factors among consumer characteristics became moderators when design characteristics influenced brand attitude and purchase intention. Third, the differences in purchase intention affected by design characteristics were found in bags, shoes, and accessories category. It is necessary for luxury brands to focus on innovative design characteristics and to specify the different needs of consumers through fashion related behavioral factors. This research will be useful to luxury brands in designing products and planning marketing strategies by offering specific information for luxury brand consumers.
This study was designed to make a proposal of a classifying model of Korean fashion brands as the first step in a long-term research plan developing a globalization roadmap for Korean fashion industry. On the basis of ownership advantages of a brand which included firm level attributes and brand level characteristics, fashion brands were classified into eight types. The proposed model was expected to provide an efficient and meaningful framework in developing global strategies both for academic and practical purposes. The model proposed four major categories of fashion brands including manufacturer brands, designer brands, retailer brands, and non-brands. Manufacturer brands were further classified into three groups of conglomerate fashion brands, fashion brands, and sports-specialized brands. Non-brands included small/very small-sized manufacturer non-brands, small/very small-sized non-brands, and OEM/ODM exporters. The classifying dimensions, brand type characteristics, and the globalization approach were discussed. Methods to test the reliability and validity of classifying were also discussed in the text.
The purpose of this study is to identify the SPA(Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel) characteristics and product supply process of Korean casual apparel brands. The research was conducted by questionnaire surveys to 63 casual apparel brands. SPA characteristics of each brand were measured with four SPA characteristic indices: short product supply cycle, spacious retail floor, single brand retail store, and low product price compared to the quality of the product. The 63 apparel brands were grouped by SPA index score. The brands belonged to group H had high index score and brands in group L had low index score. The results of this study showed that the most of the casual apparel brands' products were sold at department stores, especially the brands belonged to group L greatly depended on department stores. Few apparel brands have spacious retail floor. The retail product price of the brands belonged to group H was low price while the product price of the brands belonged to group L was in the medium-high price. The supply time of the new products was short in general. The most brands supplied new styles to the retail floor within 1 to 3 weeks. The information technology was heavily used. The brands belonged to group H highly used information technology including bar codes system, pas data analysis, and inventory control system. The current style trends were analyzed with street fashion and feedback from the shop managers.

This study presented the characteristics of a mobile fashion shopping mall as perceived by those in charge of fashion brands, clarified the effect of the characteristics on the intention 'Of introduction, and indicated the differences in the intention of introduction according to the characteristics of brands. This study surveyed individuals in charge of fashion & clothing brands. It utilized SPSS 12.0 program for data analysis and performed frequency analysis, validity analysis, reliability analysis, multi regression analysis, ANOVA, and hierarchical adjustment regression analysis. A summary of the results of this study are as follows: First, the results of the factor analysis are shown to clarify the characteristics of mobile fashion shopping mall; four factors such as facility/usefulness, instant accessibility, personalization, and playfulness were also represented. Second, it showed that facility/usefulness, instant accessibility and personalization generate a positive influence on the intention of introduction. Of the factors, facility/usefulness displayed the highest influence. Third, regarding the effect of the characteristics of a mobile fashion shopping mall on the intention of introduction according to the characteristics of brands (in the case of women's wear) the intention of introduction is strong as instant accessibility and facility/usefulness is highly recognized. Lastly, there is a difference in the intention of introduction according to the characteristics of brands. According to items, casual wear shows the highest intention of introduction as followed by women's wear and sportswear. According to age, brands targeting a 24-29 year old group show a higher intention. Companies with average sales of 50 billion won to 750 billion won (or more) for three years showed a high intention. In addition, the possibility of introduction as a new distribution line was investigated.
Generation MZ has emerged as a significant consumer segment and trendsetter in the fashion market of South Korea. Fashion designer brands have become popular among this generation by offering a range of fashion content on social network services (SNS) based on fresh and trendy designs. Despite the growing market share of fashion designer brands in the industry, previous research has mainly focused on brand personality in line with the characteristics of traditional fashion brands. Therefore, this study aims to derive brand personality and SNS characteristics of fashion designer brands based on previous research and investigate the influence of these factors on brand preference and behavioral intention. Moreover, it examines how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the consumer type (i.e., innovative type vs. price-sensitive type). Based on an online survey of 256 Korean adults with experience in fashion designer brands, this study identified the influencing mechanisms on purchase intention and word-of-mouth intention. This study contributes to empirical investigations of consumer brand preference and behavior intention in fashion designer brands through the brand equity model. It also offers insight into developing a segmented brand strategy by considering the variations in the influence mechanism of behavioral intention across different consumer types.
The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics and recent trends of Korean herbal medicine cosmetics brand logos and to shed light on the identities of herbal medicine cosmetics in Korea. Ultimately this study aims to seek ways to develop strategic global brands distinguished from other brands, and providing the basic data for such development. In order to investigate the characteristics of brand logos, the researcher of this study chose 11 Korean Herbal Medicine Cosmetics Brands marketed today and collected information related to the brands from their websites. The visual characteristics of the logos currently used by Korean herbal medicine cosmetics can be summarized as follows. Most brand logos include marks consisting of Chinese letters written in calligraphy styles to represent the brand information of'Korean herbal medicine.' As for colors, most brands use mostly black and gold to present luxurious images, or convey strong impressions through stark contrast between black, red and white, hoping to distinguish themselves from other cosmetic products. An analysis of the linguistic characteristics of herbal medicine cosmetics in South Korea revealed that most brands use associative and freestanding brand names which suggest that the user's appearance will improve by using the products they represent. Using such names that convey oriental purity and mysterious meanings, trying to capture the deepest beauty with the best quality, the brands construct brand images that are luxurious and high-class. Most of the brands currently used by Korean herbal medicine cosmetics employ components that emphasize the functional aspect of Korean herbal medicine cosmetics. To secure the status of world-class brands, however, it is imperative to conduct research on brand logos capable of establishing identities distinguished from others.
The purpose of this research is to study the types of name spectrum and their characteristics of domestic men's wear brands focusing on formal and casual wear and also examine the differences based on the type of brands' product and brand style. Total 184 of men's wear brands, which were consisted of 66 formal wear brands and 84 casual wear brands, were selected from '2009 Korea Fashion Yearbook'. For data analysis, quantitatively evaluated the frequency and qualitatively evaluated the image of brand product and the meaning of brand name. The result as follows; 1. The domestic fashion brands for men's wear appeared to have four types of name spectrum. The descriptive name was the most frequently showed, and followed by arbitrary, suggestive, and coined name. For formal wear brands, four types of name spectrum were appeared in the order of descriptive, suggestive, coined, and arbitrary name. In casual wear brands, three types of name spectrum were appeared in the order of descriptive, arbitrary, and suggestive name. 2. The characteristics of men's brand name according to their name spectrum was as follows.; In the descriptive brand names, person's name was used the most and some ascribed the characteristics, feature or geographic location of the product. The suggestive brand names contained images and symbols of the product and also implied the relevant benefit information in a particular product context. In the arbitrary brand name, they imply the various meanings according to the product and are made up of either coined or natural. For the coined name, some bear the ideology or symbolized the characteristics of product itself. 3. The descriptive name spectrum showed the most in domestic menswear brands, regardless of the brand type. Except this, there were differences in the type and the frequency of name spectrum depending on the brand type.
This study selected fashion brands claiming to advocate feminism to analyze their characteristics and female images. For the study's data, online foreign feminist fashion brands were sifted from March 2017 to January 2018 and 28 clothing brands were selected. The study's results show that feminist fashion brands aim at the demassification and individualization of fashion products to be more inclusive of individuals' physical characteristics and diversity. Additionally, feminist brands entice consumption through communication and participation in online communities and through the value of social coexistence. The essential female image produced by feminist fashion brands deconstructs a socially idealized female image and expresses a sense of self-body positivity. In turn, the concept of self-body positivity is communicated through natural images of independent women with distinct identities based on differences in race, culture, and sexual orientation. Moreover, feminist fashion brands produce social images featuring independent women using active wear to engage in social activities. Casual wear is also used to reflect active women, while mannish looks and power suits express women's social status and professional abilities. Ultimately, these offer functionally active and rational images, combined with female images featuring long hair and makeup. Yet another type of female image seeks to create a new vision of women as diverse due to their various cultures, countries of origin, races, and individual tastes. These new images express women's physical differences, distinct identities, and diversity while simultaneously deconstructing pre-existing forms of clothing.
