Aural archival description has been rarely discussed, although it is one of the important process in managing and using aural archives. Aural archives not being cataloged are difficult to access; moreover they require tools and a lot of time to search appropriate records. This study concerning characteristics of archival description and aural archives analyzed rules for aural archival description in United Kingdom, Canada and United States of America Comparing and analyzing rules, a rules for aural archival description in Korea was proposed and arranged into eight areas modified from seven areas of ISAD(G). This study focused on developing rules for description covering all aspects of aural archives in Korea. The rules for aural archival description will offer a base of Korean Rules for Archival Description and building aural archival databases.

With the increase in private and community archives to record various different shapes and forms of societies, the establishment of archives for social minorities has heightened. In line with these changes, this study analyzed the Korean queer archives "Queerarch," which focus on records and archives on sexual minorities. This study examined the current status of the archives of Queerarch, and grasped the characteristics of the queer archives and the problems of archival description elements. The current archival description elements used in Queerarch do not fully reflect the characteristics of the queer archives and the multilayer description method. To solve these problems, this study proposed a metadata schema that includes archival description elements that are based on archival description standards such as the General International Standard Archival Description (ISAD (G)), Manual of Archival Description (MAD), Rules for Archival Description (RAD), and others.

In the image acquisition tests of image sensors and modules, how to compare pixel values, how to digitize "defect", and how to determine "fault" are extremely varied from test equipments. Therefore, setup of test equipments for image acquisition characteristics should be customized for target devices under test. In general, test procedures are delivered as technical documents in not standardized but arbitrary formats. So test equipment should be manually programmed fitting individual setup condition. This costs huge time and effort and has high risk of human error. In this paper, the standardized description method is proposed to apply to almost all existing tests where various tests are described in a single framework.

Old maps of Dokdo are records with the physical specificities of a map while also holding historical meanings and evidencial values as ancient writings. Therefore more detail and meaningful descriptions are needed than other general records. However, in comparison to the high interest in these maps, there is a lack of systematic and integrative descriptions. Hence, this study aimed to propose the description elements of the old maps of Dokdo holding evidential values. For this purpose, first, literature reviews and the characteristics of the old maps of Dokdo were analyzed. Next, for determining description elements using institutions that possess old maps of Dokdo, case studies were conducted in 12 domestic and foreign institutions and compared the rules of ISAD(G). The final description elements were suggested by reflecting on the evaluation of five experts in old maps. Fifty description elements in a total of 8 areas - identity areas, context areas, content and structure areas, conditions of access and use areas, allied materials areas, note areas, description control areas, and other areas were proposed.

An improved nonparametric tool description based on successive refined nonparametric patches is proposed and the related criterion for refinement is also discussed. In the proposed scheme any required order of tool surface conformity can be achieved by employing successive refinements according to the suggested criterion. By using the suggested adaptive tool refinement technique based on the nonparametric patch tool description the locally refined nonparametric tool surface with economic memory size and sufficient accuracy as well as with favorable characteristics for contact treatment can be obtained directly from the parametric patch related with commercial CAD system. Computation is carried out for a chosen complex sheet forming example of an actual autobody panel in order to verify the validity and the efficiency of the developed tool surface description.

In this paper, we propose visual Impairment descriptions for MPEG-21 digital item adaptation. The proposed visual impairment descriptions include low vision impairment and color vision deficiency. It is symptom-based description so that the description is systematic enough to sufficiently describe user's any kind of visual impairment characteristics and easy enough to describe for any user with visual impairment. In this paper, we performed some experiments with the proposed description in MPEG-21 digital item adaptation. The experiments showed that the proposed description Is effective to adapt visual resources In digital item for users with visual impairment and to give enhanced visual accessibility to them.

The aim of this study is to propose the introduction of narrative description as an improvement to describing archives, thereby enhancing the user experience of archives. To achieve this, the study identifies the specific forms and positions of narrative elements in archives and analyzes the interaction between archival description and narrative elements. It also examines cases where narrative description has been applied in digital archives to analyze their purposes and identify the various types and characteristics of narrative description for the improvement of description and considering factors that should be taken into account when implementing narrative descriptions. Theoretical research explores the concept and role of narrative and analyzes how it is manifested in describing archives. Case studies investigate the types of narrative description in digital archives and explore their roles. Narrative description emphasizes that it can facilitate implementation by establishing the narrative identity of archivists as context constructors, conducting extensive and deep research on records, and planning collaborations with experts. However, due to the lack of concrete implementation plans for narrative description in the practical archives, further research is needed to develop models of narrative description and prepare various examples of narrative applications.

In order to manage repair and maintenance efficiently in the mobile environment, the system structure to manage service as a policy and the policy description language are needed. This research defined the structure of PEP, which is the executioner of policy in the IETF policy framework, and proposed the policy description language which can be carried out under the PEP structure. The proposed policy description language derived demand matters based on documentary data and the characteristics of mobile and the policy information model was designed with the three stage approaches and was defined as policy description language. The three stage approaches are made up of the policy domain that decides the scope to which the policy applies, the policy rules which distinguish the kinds of policy application and control, and policy grammar which contextualizes the policy structure. In order to verify the efficiency of the policy description language, scenarios are defined with the policy description language and verified it by using policy tool and proved the expansive nature by comparing and analyzing other policy description language.

A male Spheropistha melanosoma Yaginuma, 1957 from Korea in the family Theridiidae Sundevall, 1833 is described with measurements and morphological photos of the diagnostic characteristics. This species was collected with a sweep net around arable lands in a mountainous mixed forest during the investigation of spider fauna on Ulleungdo Island in 2019.

Due to the challenging physical access of data and the abstraction of the old map, the study of the old map, which is owned by overseas collections, is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to include more detailed and professional characteristics in the bibliography or description elements, and to provide information that is helpful for the study of the old map through many ways. In this study, the elements of the old map based upon the system of the Haejushinbon were analyzed and added to the description elements of the old map for studying the Korean old map system. Fifty six description elements in 8 areas from the analysis were applied to 「Yeongyeondo」 in the French National Library, a major old map located overseas that was not well known in Korea. In conclusion, additional description elements of the old map were proposed to enhance accessibility and utilization of old map research.
